A thrilling--and iconic play on the classic Mr. & Mrs. Smith. One that has me laughing and loving it.
Savannah Wilde is a very powerful witch who is ready to settle down with the love of her life, Griffin. One problem: Savy is an agent with C.R.O.N.E. (Covert Response to Occult Nightmares by Enchantresses; an organization tasked with protecting magical beings just like her) and Griffin? He's an agent with the HUNTERS, an organization founded upon…. witch hunting.
Things get a bit complicated, seeing as the one job these two lovers have? killing the other.
The result of this hilarious set up is a warm hearted, fast paced adventure with all the best tropes. (secret agents, zany sidekicks, lovers to enemies to lovers again, etc.) Bisexual representation, and a fast paced, fun read made this romance reader, doubly happy.

I definitely enjoyed reading this book, it had a Mr and Mrs Smith vibe in a Witchy theme. Enemies to lovers romance that I could not put down. It was a quick read and entertaining from the beginning.

I really enjoyed this spin on the Mr. and Mrs. Smith movie. This is a witchy and magical retelling, and a really interesting turn of events when it comes to the enemies to lovers trope; in fact, you could really call this is a lovers to enemies to lovers book? I don't think that's been done before, at least not like this, and it's both refreshing and highly entertaining. While these two are supposed to be enemies, as defined by the ways in which they grew up and what they were told, it's evident that theya re the furthest thing from rivals. They go on a journey where they discover that the things they have been told their whole lives might have been lies, and a road to discovering whether love is really something that conquers all. This was so much fun to read and I thoroughly enjoyed not only the romance, but the plot, the humor, the banter and yes, the smut as well. The cover is also so beautiful! I really loved this book and would recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the digital ARC of this book.

This book follows Savannah who is a powerful witch that is dead set of never getting married. Until a surprise whirlwind romance occurs that sets her up to marry the love of her life. She has a secret to be kept from him, but she’s not the only one with one. In comes Griffin.. he’s an agent for an organization that is used to take witches down and other supernatural threats. And he can’t wait to marry savvy as well, not knowing that she herself is a witch. Their wedding day comes and both of their identities have been exposed to each other and they’re both tasked with killing each other from their superiors. But they discover a secret that could take down both agencies and can team up to do so.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning! I kept wanting to read more and more. I loved the dual timelines, reading about when they first met and then back to present day. The romance was adorable and had me rooting for them since page 1. There’s spice, but not an overwhelming amount to where you lose the plot line in it, and the characters are witty and funny! Gwenda bond is definitely an author I will auto buy from!

A witchy take on Mr. and Mrs. Smith, you will love this fast paced rom-com!
Savvy and Griffin are excited to celebrate the happiest day of their lives and get married, even though they only met a year ago, they both just "knew". The only problem is, they are both hiding something.
Savvy is a witch and Griffin is a H.U.N.T.E.R. They are basically on opposite teams and have a long history of being enemies. When both of their leaders show up at the wedding, everything falls apart and Savvy and Griffin doubt what they thought they had. When both sides put out a hit on the other and order Griffin and Savvy to take each other out, they have to choose sides. Will they trust their instincts and believe in love? Or blindly follow orders and do what they are told?
Fans of magic will love this one!

A huge thank you to Gwenda Bond, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC and share my thoughts on it with all of you.

Savvy is a powerful witch, a fact that she must hide from her soon-to-be husband, Griffin. But all is not as it seems when it comes to light that Savvy isn't the only one with secrets to keep.

This story was an entertaining, quick read and would make an excellent palate cleanser if you've just finished a longer series and want something light-hearted. There's enemies to lovers tension, and both Savvy and Griffin are total cinnamon rolls. If you liked the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith and you enjoy fluffy, low-stakes, paranormal romance, this book is for you.

I enjoyed this light-hearted romantic comedy about a couple who falls in love but discovers that they are on opposing sides of the magical world. She's a witch and he's a hunter and they're supposed to be enemies. Or at least that's what they've been taught their whole lives.
They do some investigating and discover that their leaders aren't who they say they are and it causes a whole lot of chaos in the magical world.
Savvy was told that she wasn't supposed to fall in love and get married, so it surprises her when she meets Griffin and they fall deeply in love.
But will their love stay strong through the struggles of their worlds colliding?

Savvah and Griffin are madly in love and set to tie the knot. But as the wedding day arrives, they find that they are actually born enemies. Can they survive the bride and groom factions that are calling for an end to the coupling? Or will they find common ground and be able o change the future for not only themselves, but their respective communities?

A good read that was enjoyable and quick.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Mr. & Mrs. Witch.

I was instantly drawn to the premise; a magical remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith? Count me in.

This started off well, a wedding between our main protagonists that ends poorly, but even with the supernatural world building (which I enjoyed), Mr. & Mrs. Witch was too romance-y for me.

The main issue for me was how I couldn't connect to Savvy or Griffin. I didn't dislike them. I just didn't care about them.

The author offers flashbacks into how they met, how their relationship developed, and this was typical chick lit romance.

There are plenty of scenes of magic and fighting off the bad guys, but the biggest plot thread, the bounty on Savvy and Griffin's head, the conspiracy between the Butcher and Circe, their deepest, darkest secrets is quickly revealed, Savvy and Griffin lay down their terms, and everyone just goes along with it?

I didn't buy it.

Also, I enjoy and appreciate a good sex scene as much as the next person but I could have done without them here.

I guess the author wanted to show Savvy and Griffin's sexual chemistry but it disrupted the narrative and took me out of the magical world the author was building.

Savvy and Griffin were like horny teenagers hooking up while everyone else cooled their heels and waited for them to be finished.

The author describes repetitively about what a goddess Savvy is (Griffin's nickname for her, how she's so tall and striking, how Griffin is a tall, nerdy drink of water (how Savvy describes him), over and over.

I understand this is a romance but still...chill We get it. They're gorgeous, horny, and in love. Let's move on.

Despite the high stakes of the narrative, the tone of the writing lacked urgency and suspense.

Everything is quickly wrapped up, everyone falls into place, there is no pushback from the hunters or witches or anyone else. Everyone falls into line because...Savvy and Griffin are natural leaders?

I found it difficult that Savvy and Griffin are so powerful and so good at what they do when nothing about their characters indicate it. They're not dumb; they're just a regular witch and hunter doing their jobs. That's all.

I really wanted to like this more but I do appreciate the opportunity to read this early.

Its Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but add magic. Mr. & Mrs. Witch was so much fun to read. I wasn't sure how this premise would end up working, but it does and its such a fun escape.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced digital copy.

Ok, I am in love with Gwenda Bond at this point. Her writing is so similar to how I think that it’s freaky. So when I had the opportunity to get an advanced copy of Mr & Mrs Witch (courtesy of NetGalley), I jumped on it!

I love this book! Yes, it’s similar to the movie Mr & Mrs Smith, but I don’t think it’s a ripoff of the movie. It’s got its own originality and the characters are lovely. There are twists and turns, and the development - both character and story-wise are wonderful. Definitely a favorite of the year!

I received an ARC of Mr. & Mrs. Witch, by Gwenda Bond in exchange for my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the writing style, the characters, the plot, everything worked together to make this not only a fun escape to read, but it pulled me in and I couldn't put it down! I loved the witchcraft angle and the familiars, as they made the book so fun to familiar,.
Savannah Wilde, Savvy, is doing something unheard of, something her mother warned her against, she is marrying a man...a human man. You see, Savvy is a witch, operating as a public relations consultant, when she meets Griffin, an antiquities professor, (or is he?). Their relationship progresses, they fall in love, and they are getting married.
On the day of the wedding, a surprise guest is seated on the groom's side, a guest who absolutely shouldn't be there. It has to be a fluke, there is no way that Griffin could know about this guest, but he does. When things come to light, Savvy and Griffin learn that they both had been keeping secrets, huge secrets. Deal breaking secrets, the wedding is off! When they both learn the true extent of deception, they must come together to fight, or risk their very lives!

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I completely got behind the Mr. & Mrs. Smith retelling and thought the authors storyline and take on it was fresh and unique. I also loved a couple of the plot twists placed within and character developments.

Where I didn’t quite follow was the development of the magical realm, all the different tangents built were too much for the length of the book for me. Additionally, a some points I was a little confused on who was speaking within the setting dialogue and had to use a fair amount of context. Lastly, I found the context that everyone else in their lives just went off of word of mouth from our main characters as to the deceit that played out and feel like if Griffin expected tangible proof wouldn’t most of them feel the same way?

I think this general premise would have made a good series, where characters could be introduced and explained with a bit more time and base to develop them on. I genuinely loved the idea of the familiar feeling a sense of family to them both especially without intial friend support on both sides.

I absolutely ate this one up in two sittings. It was really a magical Mr and Mrs. Smith.
Savvy and Griffin find out on their wedding day that they belong to rival magical factions and because of this, they have been ordered to take each other out. Before that can happen, they are surprised that they are public enemy no. 1 and so they basically have to team up to avoid the mercenaries sent after them.
This was such a fun, fast paced read. The action was constant, the characters were engaging and interesting, and the plot moved along nicely.
If you liked the movie Mr and Mrs. Smith, give this one a read.

This was such a charming rendition of Mr. and Mrs. Smith that starts with a bang and doesn't let up! I think this may be my favorite of Gwenda Bond's books so far! Highly recommend.

If you are a romance reader who is at all a fan of fantasy genres, don’t skip this book! Seriously, the cover is hideous, but the story is top notch. I couldn’t decide if I was more interested in the “spy thriller/secret agent” aspect, or the romance. The blend of genres is on point, without going too far.

The story is a bit of Mr. And Mrs. Jones mixed in with witches, witch hunters and our modern world. There is enough info about this realm or take on witchcraft that you understand the universe, but not so much that you forget that you’re here for a love story. I would have happily read more about the big climactic battle with the bad guys. I thought it was tied up a little too quickly. But, again, romance novel. Not action thriller.

And I really want to read more about Diego. That side character needs a story of his own.

I don't know what I expected but it wasn't this. Started out great but I slowly lost interest with every page. I wasn't a fan of the 'before' chapters. And the romance felt so oddly out of place, for some reason?

I wanted so much to love this one. So disappointing.
