Another book about the deep sea fish, learning to share with his friends! Great moral story for kids, especially young kids. Very beautiful pictures to go along with it.

A wonderful collection of the Rainbow Fish stories! I grew up with the original story, and to be able to share these stories with a new generation of young readers is so much fun.

I'll be honest...I seen The Rainbow Fish and thought "how does a 90s baby scroll on by and not request to review this book?" Instant feeling of nostalgia; I loved Rainbow Fish as a child and now my children love it too. I shared this book with my 2 and 4 year old sons and they asked for it again and again. We are definitely purchasing a copy for our home library. I hadn't realized the author had put out other editions of The Rainbow Fish until I read this and went looking on Goodreads-there are several books in this series that I'll be purchasing to share with my children and maybe, hopefully, someday they'll share their love of Rainbow Fish with their own children!

This is an anthology of Rainbow Fish stories that is perfect for parents to use as bedtime stories or for preschool or early elementary teachers to use in the classroom. It begins with the original "Rainbow Fish" story where Rainbow Fish learns to share his sparkly scales. Next are two stories about making new friends and not being afraid of the unknown. The first one is about a blue whale and the second is about ocean life in the deep sea. There is a story about how to play fairly and not be a sore loser and finally, a sweet goodnight story with Rainbow Fish and his mother. At the end of the book are fun activities such as a maze, dot-to-dot, coloring page, cookie recipe, and craft instructions.

I enjoyed the stories in this book and think it would make a great gift for young children.

Thank you to #NetGalley for an eARC of #TheRainbowFishandHisFriends by #MarcusPfister - 5 stars

This compilation of the Rainbow Fish books brought a smile to my face and the children I nanny. The illustrations are beautiful and the stories are very meaningful.
The 2 and 4 year olds that I nanny loved looking at the illustrations and hearing about Rainbow Fish and his friends. The 4 year old was especially interested in the stories but the 2 year olds attention was kept by the colorful pictures. The stories help prompt us into conversations about sharing and friendship.
I highly recommend this wonderful book! I am grateful to NorthSouth Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read a digital copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

The Rainbow Fish and His Friends by Marcus Pfister is a collection of five Rainbow Fish stories (The Rainbow Fish; Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale; Rainbow Fish Discovers the Deep Sea; You Can’t Win Them All, Rainbow Fish; and Good Night, Little Rainbow Fish) that is a perfect read for any Rainbow Fish fan. I enjoyed all of the stories in the Rainbow Fish and His Friends and believe the stories teach children good life skills. This book would be perfect for any reading setting. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

I loved this so much! I read the original Rainbow Fish when I was a kid and it was so nostalgic to be able to revisit it. The illustrations are just as gorgeous as ever and I can't wait to share this with my own children. I also love that there are some fun activitives included in the book!

It was so special to take a story I read as a child and curl up to introduce my own child to it. It is simultaneously nostalgic in its familiarity and brand new in seeing it through the fresh eyes of a new reader.

The illustrations are engaging and as well-received by younger, newer audiences as they were in 1992. Our most loved was the addition of the Big Blue Whale story, as it brings in a very nice message about not judging someone you don't know.

I feel like the original story struggles to keep up with a positive "sharing is caring" message and comes across a lot more like the Rainbow Fish is giving away every part of themselves they like in order to please a group of acquaintances. it was not the same, endearing story I remembered and my 6 year-old said she felt bad that Rainbow Fish was sad, that she didn't want him to have to get rid of himself.

Overall, I think the collection is gorgeous on each page and the story would serve well in any classroom or personal library. There is ample opportunity to have a cozy, quality time reading and can also open the door to introductory conversations.

This glittery collection is five of the better Rainbow Fish books, all collected in one anniversary volume – the fish was thirty in 2022, hence this celebratory compilation. It certainly gave me a chance to catch up with the series, not having had much experience of it before now.

The first story is ultimately a daft one about not being too proud and selfish, with a Rainbow Fish begged by all the other fish for a scale off its back, until he’s only got one left. Yes he’s been friendly and kind and generous and is amongst the friends he couldn’t get when seeming greedy, but he’s hardly going to get anywhere with one scale, is he now? “...and the Big Blue Whale” has the friends of the Rainbow Fish take against having to share their krill with a big whale, but when bad words are said from prejudice things get nasty. It’s up to our hero to be diplomatic. “...Discovers the Deep Sea” is what happens when the last special scale the Rainbow Fish has sinks to the bottom of the deepest canyon, and all the luminescent creatures down below, that the other fish thought must be horrid monsters, turn out to be friendly and helpful.

“You Can’t Win Them All...” – Rainbow Fish throws his toys out the pram when he can’t find anyone at hide and seek, only to be found in a fishy flash. Can kind words save the day? (Answer – yes.) And “Goodnight, Little Rainbow Fish” is a look back into the childhood of our hero, when he needs – and gets – assurance from his mother about just how safe and happy she’ll keep him.

All told they remain gorgeous stories, full of fine sentiment, if a little too well-intentioned to be sensible at first. Artwork is definitely on the strong side, filling the pages with full spreads of aquatic landscape, and peppering other pages with tiny details of the larger images to liven everything up. In the end, it’s a good thing to get past the cockamamie fantasy of the first tale, and enjoy the rest of the series.

Did anyone else read Rainbow Fish to their kids growing up? I have such fond memories of that book so when I saw this one, it was a given that I needed it.

This brings back all the love and memories of my time spent sharing the earlier book with my kiddos and I can't wait to share this one with my grandbabies. Such breaktaking and beautiful illustrations! I also love that this isn't just one story but many, and that they teach great lessons about sharing and conflict resolution.

I need a hard copy of this for each of my grandbabies now LOL. I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a review copy. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.

Thank you NetGalley, publisher, and author for a chance to read "The Rainbow Fish and His Friends". In exchange for an honest review.

I grew up with "The Rainbow Fish" in the 90's, and it's such a treat to read the original story with the accompanying short stories. The illustrations still hold their original charm from my memory. Each short story in the collection showcases amazing details of the designs. I can't wait to see this book in person. Overall, it's nice to see all five stories packed into the same book.

Rainbow Fish was one of my favourite books as a child. I can remember seeing the rainbow scales glitter on the page. Reading this new addition to the story was like traveling back in time. This gave me a piece of my childhood and I loved it.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book

This is a lovely book, I enjoyed reading what was like a picture book series combined into one book. The messages will teach or remind all readers young and old of important lessons and the illustrations through were really pretty.

I grew up on the Rainbow Fish stories and I'm so excited to share this edition with my nephew. Having 5 books in one makes it easier to take the stories on the go without having a ton of books I have to keep track of.
