I'm always looking for new ways to enjoy "carbs" but as many don't agree with me, in a keto way. This book provided me with heaps of options, easy to follow instructions and appealing images to inspire me to try the recipes out!

Keto Carbs Cookbook for Beginners offers a lot of yummy looking Leto friendly recipes. I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet, but they look easy enough to follow and I look forward to trying them. I am not Keto, but have had to try many different diets at different times for stomach problems and appreciate these recipes and cookbooks like this. I do wish there would have been more pictures accompanying the recipes so the reader could see the final outcome. Overall this is a well put together cookbook with a lot of recipes to try.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book!

This was definitely a cookbook for Keto beginners. While the recipes are incredibly easy to make and read, I really wished there was a little more spin and creativity than the basic keto cookbooks have.

Flove the cover!!! So you can clearly see that eating keto is not a hardship and the author of this cookbook goes out of the way to prove it to you! From bagels, muffins, pizza and almost any other food a diet would restrict you to have. You can eat it and lose weight!

What did I like? The book really needs more pictures!!! I’ll eat almost anything but I’d like to drool over an awesome picture as well. Everything you shouldn’t eat on a diet is here so no hardship. You may have to stretch out that budget on some extra cooking supplies though. I’m excited to try a few of these recipes!

Would I recommend or buy? This book would look great on my shelf! If your new to keto this is a great beginner cookbook. If your like me and need to cut back some these recipes sound great! I definitely enjoyed my sneak peek!

I voluntarily left this opinion after getting an exclusive sneak peek at the contents!

The ketogenic lifestyle is popular with good reason. Author of Keto Carbs Cookbook for Beginners Lolita Carrico explains the benefits, basic information on the keto lifestyle, ketosis, macronutrients (fats, proteins and carbs), carb swaps, meal plans and recipes. Starting the keto lifestyle can be difficult as I can attest to. But it can be done and deliciously, too. As the title suggests, this book is particularly written for those starting out. However, it can be a good refresher for those of us who have been keto for awhile.

Recipes I am excited to either get back to or are different variations on those I know include Baked Donut Bites with Jelly (looks fabulous!), Cinnamon Coffee Cake (would be lovely with homemade keto ice cream!), Sesame Crackers (I recently discovered that avocado oil makes especially good crackers), Margherita Pizza Chips, Soft-Baked Pretzels with Spicy Mustard Dip, Baked Chipotle Avocado Fries, Crispy Chicken Tenders (have yet to try tenders with suggested oat fiber...great idea), Italian Zucchini Noodles, Garlic and Herb Baked Shrimp with Cauliflower Rice, Blondies and Peanut Butter Cake Bars. Can't wait to try this version of Salted Caramel Cupcakes, Everything Bagels and Garlic Breadsticks. Tomorrow my plan is to make the Basic Sandwich Bread, something anyone with celiac like me and/or keto craves. I made the 90-Second Bread which is an awesome go to when you need a vehicle for your sandwich or toast or pizza bun. It doesn't compete with bread but is a pleasant surprise and quick substitute.

The only drawback is a lack of photos to correspond with recipes which new to keto would find helpful. I like that there are a few new ideas and trending recipes are also included (cloud bread, fathead dough, donuts). This book is a great starting point and is written in an easy-to-understand format. The recipes are simple, too.

My sincere thank you to Callisto Media and NetGalley for the privilege of reading from this book. I am inspired to add ideas to my repertoire!

Keto Carbs Cookbook for Beginners is a low carb cookbook with recipes developed and curated by Lolita Carrico. Released 5th July 2022 by Callisto on their Rockridge imprint, it's 287 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.

This is a beginner friendly introduction to keto with a special emphasis on recipes which will satisfy carb lovers. The intro chapter covers the basics of the keto lifestyle/diet, including a basic primer on ketosis, macronutrients, tips, ingredients, tools, supplies, how-to. The following chapters include the recipes arranged roughly by category: breakfast, chips & snacks, pizza & handhelds, pasta & noodles, rice casseroles & bakes, desserts & sweets, and breads.

Ingredient measurements are supplied in Imperial (American) standard measurements only. There is an included conversion table with metric measures in the appendices The nutritional information: fat, carbs, protein, fiber content, etc are listed for the recipes as well as serving sizes. Extra tips or recipe alternatives are listed in the recipes along with labels such as egg-free, nut-free, vegetarian, etc. The recipes themselves are fairly straightforward and are made for the most part with easily sourced ingredients (not all though, sweeteners for example, will likely need to be sourced from specialists). The sweeteners used often include erythritol, so people who have IBS or other inflammatory issues might need to proceed with caution.

The photography is not abundant; about 80% of the recipes are not illustrated, but the photographs which are included are clear and well done. I wish there had been more photographs and serving suggestions, but I do understand that extra photography increases the price of book projects very quickly and I didn't find the lack crippling.

This is a large collection of recipes and even allowing for the fact that some of them are very similar to others in the same category, this will keep keto-cooks going for ages. Many of these can also easily be adapted to non-keto cooking.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes
