A romance and detective story in one, after a one night stand Sofia meets Ian again when his son gets mixed up in the spiked drugs being sold in her school, as a chemistry teacher she wants to get to the bottom of who is putting her students at risk, Ian introduces her to Brontë Security services, they dig out and solve the issue, and when Sophia is kidnapped Ian and his team turn up to save the day and his girl. Nice start to a new series.

I am a fan of Leslie North and for the most part, her books are hits with me although I have had a couple that missed the mark for me. This one is a hit. I really enjoyed the story of Ian and Sofia. We got a pretty good idea of the two of them and I bought into their quickly falling in love. While there is an unplanned pregnancy thrown in, it was not a main focus of the story which is different. Ian's teenage son, Gavin, could have been fleshed out more, but still an understandable character. I really enjoyed this. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

The focus of this book was split between Ian and Sofia's relationship and The drug problem at the school that Sofia works at. I like the balance between the two. The story flowed great and kept me intrigued throughout. This is an awesome start to the Bronte Security Services series. .

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing a free copy in exchange of an honest review. The blurb is pretty straightforward. It’s about a former SEAL, Ian and a high school chemistry teacher, Sofia who met and had a one night stand and then boom she’s pregnant. What’s worse is that she is his son’s teacher. I’ve read the author’s previous works before but I think I like this one the most. The writing has gotten better and the stereotypes of “sheikhs” aren’t here though. The characters seem more realistic than her other characters. My gripe is that some of the slang(?) seems odd and that the story seems short. I like that it wasn’t too instalove but I feel like the story could have been expanded more.
