This book is beautifully written and illustrated. I will be buying and recommending this one for years to come. The approach to feelings and allowing children the healthy attitude to acknowledge what they feel is much-needed.

YES 👏🏻 THIS 👏🏻 BOOK 👏🏻

I absolutely love this book so much. Books that focus on allowing children (& adults, especially males) to express and really feel their emotions are much needed in this world. The way in which Karamo allows his child to feel his emotions and guides his child to express them on their own terms is so beautiful.

AND the addition of resources and activities to help children in expressing them in a healthy way makes this our new FAVE book. I cannot wait to purchase this for myself & our local libraries. We will be SCREAMING our recommendation of this book from the rooftops because every child needs this book (& honestly so do their parents, caregivers & educators).

Thank you so so so much NetGalley & Zando Projects for allowing us to read this advanced copy! And a special thank you to Karamo Brown and Jason “Rachel” Brown for writing this book— it’s going to help so many people!

As a long time fan of the Queer Eye franchise, and of the wise and charismatic Karamo Brown, I was thrilled to sit down and read this book with my 6-year-old daughter. The illustrations are extremely engaging and visually lovely. The images of the father and son were filled with joy, love, and understanding all conveyed so gently within in the pages.

I found the way they spoke to one another to be so validating and refreshing. My daughter was really interested in discussing how a thought turns into a feeling which turns into a behavior. This was a highlight for us because it did what we hope books will do, open the door for a deeper discussion that enriches our emotional understanding of each other.

It's impressive when such a short book is able to resonate so quickly. When Karamo's son is feeling scared, he asks "What would make you feel safe right now?", and I immediately added that to my arsenal of gentle parenting to use with my own child.

This fabulous book discusses the importance of feelings and what to do when feelings get overwhelming. In the context of a walk through the park which quickly becomes a scary thunderstorm, Karamo and his son discuss happy, sad, angry and scared. Karamo reminds his son (and the reader) that all feelings are valid and gives his son some strategies to use to help calm himself when the feelings get to be too much. There are great lessons to help anxious children and help validate all feelings. I would highly recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the age 3-9 range. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

This is a wonderful book for young children. It shows a father and child outside enjoying time together on a beautiful day. They talk about what makes them happy and what they like to do when they are happy. A storm approaches and the child feels scared. The father guides the child on accepting all feelings and how to deal with being scared. This book is beautifully illustrated. It shows the connection between thoughts and feelings and the importance of recognizing our uncomfortable feelings. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy in return for my honest opinion.

A very sweet picture book about feelings and how to not let them overwhelm us when they aren't all happy and joyful. This is a really great book to explain more in depth ways to help children (and adults) shift their racing thoughts.

An excellent book on the fact of impermanence and how mindful awareness can help one to embrace and enjoy the process of change, even if it comes with difficulty.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

This was a sweet book about feelings! I especially liked the use of deep breathing to help calm down and process your feelings. The emotional resources at the end were a very nice addition to the story.

This is a wonderful picture book. The illustrations do a really good job going along with the feelings of our character. We see him experience differing feelings and his dad helping him work through it.
I really liked how vibrant the illustrations are!
I liked all the resources at the end too.
A great book to share and read together.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Kids feel a lot of emotions, and sometimes it's hard to understand why they feel different things. This book does an excellent example of showing how situations can cause emotions and what our reactions mean! I loved this book, and think it's a great resource.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zando Projects for the opportunity to read, rate , and honestly review this ARC.

I loved this book for many reasons. One was the representation it will offer to my black students. Another is normalizing talking about feelings and some of the ways we can work though negative ones.

This will definitely be a read for my class as soon as it is published. Thank you!
