Very repetitive, with all three characters repeating most of the same event but from their own perspective. What was irritating was that both the husband and the best friend felt toxic, especially the best friend. Right when the book was getting good, it ended.
What did I just read?! This one fell flat, and I have to say I did not enjoy this book. Felt like the same story was told three times and there was no big twist or revelation.
This was an interesting plot and one that some will relate to. When your best friend and spouse don't like each other. It gets sticky. It's definitely a good lesson to be careful who you vent to!
This book just confused me. In theory I liked the premise but found the characters unlikeable and lost interest fairly quickly in the book
The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje-Williams is a sharp and witty exploration of the tensions within a love triangle involving a married couple and the husband's best friend. Told in alternating perspectives, the novel delves into the intricate dynamics of friendship, loyalty, and marriage as the three characters navigate their shifting relationships. Through biting dialogue and clever observations, Agbaje-Williams creates a story filled with humor and simmering tension, where unspoken rivalries and unacknowledged feelings bubble to the surface.
The strength of The Three of Us lies in its razor-sharp portrayal of human behavior, particularly how small resentments and power plays can undermine even the closest relationships. Agbaje-Williams offers a fresh, modern take on the complexities of intimacy and connection, making this novel a quick yet insightful read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Group Putnam for giving me an advanced copy of this book.
This book is like that ex that you keep giving a chance, but he effs it up each time. He has absolutely no redeeming qualities (and I mean none), but your brain keeps pulling you back to him.
This book got on my nerves lol. In the worst way. It was very messy so I really didn’t want to put it down, but it annoyed me. All of the characters were ANNOYING! Temu— I mean Temi definitely gave me a Single White Female vibes. The husband gave me, he got no play in high school and now has a pretty wife so he’s going to be a super simp to keep her. I honestly don’t see a man— or anyone, but especially a man— putting up with his wife’s and Temu’s (idc idc, thats her name) co-dependent relationship.
By the end of the book I was tired, but not much happened, just three nutty buddies talking and drinking. But I kept waiting for something to happen. And at the end of the book, still nothing. Then it had the nerve to end with a MOTHERF&$@in cliff hanger, like I would want to read another book about these fools!
Chile… 2.5/5. I guess I read it quickly, but that’s not saying much
This book was middle of the road. I did not enjoy reading the same events in each of the perspectives.
I approached "The Three of Us" expecting nuanced relationships and intense conflicts among its characters, but the narrative struggled to fulfill its potential. Set around a wealthy Nigerian-descended couple in London and their disruptive friend, Temi, the novel unfolds through each character's perspective over a tense day. However, the book's segmented structure felt repetitive, failing to fully explore the intriguing dynamics, particularly the animosity between Temi and the husband. The characters, especially the husband and wife, lacked depth and clarity in their motivations, hindering genuine connection. The unconventional writing style, lacking dialogue punctuation, further disrupted the narrative flow. Ultimately, while the novel hinted at compelling themes of identity and relationships, it faltered with unresolved plotlines and undeveloped characters, leaving a feeling of unmet promise. While i gave it a 3 here its more of a 2.5
The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje-Williams is a perfect fit for readers who crave a witty and challenging exploration of the complexities of marriage, friendship, and self-discovery, and will delight in the sharp humor and relatable characters that navigate the intricate dance of relationships with humor and heart.
I did enjoy this book, but I also thought it was weird. I thought I knew what was going to happen and I was wrong! I would recommend this book. I was surprised at the twist, I wasn't expecting that!

Clever set up but failed at execution. I could hardly finish it it was that bad for me. I am sure others enjoyed it judging by the ratings!
This is a quick, short read that was interesting, but I really hated all three characters. They were so selfish and self absorbed but claimed to love the others. I love that it brought out all the emotions in me!
Good read! Kept me on my toes the whole time. I love mystery and thrillers and this is like a perfect down to earth version, if you’re on the fence give it a try!
I did not get the point to this book at all. It was a quick read and that’s a great thing. Other than that I do not know that I would recommend this.
Here I am, shocking everyone, a lover. Friends of mine who are reading this review, look me in the digital eyes, I liked this book enough to finish it even though absolutely no dialogue had quotation marks to set it apart*.
I really loved the three distinct voices - and the three unlikeable characters. And. Don’t get me wrong, you will not like these characters. I really liked that the ending for this was up in the air
*A brief pause to beg lit fic authors to stop removing quotation marks
This was witty and thought-provoking. I liked how it was told from all three perspectives, though I didn’t necessarily enjoy reading it.
I feel like this book is wasted potential in a big way - i was so interested in the characters and what was going to happen, and nothing ever did. I also didn't particularly like the characters very much? they all brought out the worst in each other and it didn't seem like anyone liked anyone. I wanted more from this book.
I liked this a lot! A quick interesting read that honestly just left me wanting more. I want to know what happens next! An interesting situation for sure.
The three of us explores the various dynamics in a different relationship one is a part of. It’s a short book and is super easy to through. We explore a woman and her friend and their relationship; woman and her husbands and the husband and the friends relationship. You know that there is going to be drama, deceit and emotions as you go in. But the story grasps your attention in a weird way leaving you wanting more.
