This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review…mystery and intrigue…characters are just not likable…the story is like a television show…
Thriller fans who are all about the plot twists are going to love this one! There's enough character development to feel you have a good sense of who these people are, and it's a quick moving story right from the start. Norah and her best friend leave the HS prom and fall prey to a serial killer known as Hansel (the bread crumb dropping psycho). Norah survives, but Hansel eludes capture. Ten years later Norah comes back to the small town after her father dies. Once again, a friend is killed and the cat and mouse game begins! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an early copy.
Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture, and Jessica Payne for the copy of The Lucky One. This is an incredible read. I love a strong main female character and Norah exceeded my hopes. Norah has become an MMA fighter so she is prepared if she ever gets kidnapped again.Ten years ago she escaped a serial killer, but when she finally returns home has the killer returned too? Is she being watched and followed? Is she safe with high school friends?
The tension keeps ratcheting up until the stunning, breathtaking conclusion
The writing is riveting and kept me glued to the pages. Put this book on your TBR and while you are waiting for the release date, Read Make Me Disappear, her debut novel.
This book!! 👩🏼🍳💋
I read this book in the matter of a day. Jessica’s writing drew me in from the first sentence. It had serial killers, unsolved murders and a little romance.
It kept me guessing on who was the killer through out the book. I did not guess and boy was I surprised!!
Norah is a bad ass main character that every book need she saws that you don’t need a man to save the day. She’ll kick anyones ass.
Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, a serial killer, and quite a few shocking twists! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I will definitely recommend reading this book! It was well worth reading! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Another great book by Jessica Payne! She really knows how to draw the reader in and hold their attention. Norah and her friend were taken by a serial killer on prom night. Norah managed to escape. Now years later, she is back home to bury her father and then serial killer strikes again. This book was nicely done in the present and the past. I honestly never had a solid guess as to who the killer was. Great book!. Got a little long in the end for me though.
Ten years ago Norah and her friend August were driving home from a dance and were taken by a serial killer named Hansel. August was not lucky enough to escape, but Norah was given a second chance. She is now living in L.A. and is a sought after MMA coach. She gets news of her father's death and has to travel back to Kansas and that's when things take a turn and her past begins to haunt her again.
THE LUCKY ONE is my second book by Jessica Payne. It was fast-paced and an exciting ride. I liked the short chapters and the flashbacks to the kidnapping from ten years earlier. I did figure out the ending, but it didn't take away my overall enjoyment of the story. I highly recommend this one.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
