Leah Parker's Letters and Lyrics is a nice romance..
Alternating between present and past, the writing does a great job building the romance between these two.
Both characters have a lot in their pasts that complicated everything.
Hollis is now famous, but longing to correct the mistakes of his past. Throughout this tale, the two try to reconnect, but have to deal with their ups and downs, throughout many obstacles.
In the end, I really liked this book . I enjoy the writing style and the storyline, The author did a great job keeping me turning the pages.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Lily and Hollis. They meet in high school. They dated then broke up after graduation. Hollis went on to be a rock star and Lily is a veterinarian. They meet again at a concert and realized they still had an attraction. They both had issues but together worked them out and fell in love
Thank you to NetGalley and Leah Parker for an e-ARC of their novel in exchange for a review. This book was released on Aug. 5, 2022.
I confess I find it very hard to read books whos main character has my name.
I did get very into the book, I love long books because they give me more to read. My heart fluttered on multiple occasions. Also I live in Boston and love reading about the city.

I really couldn't get into the writing. It felt juvenile and chaotic. The flashbacks to the past are the worst. It's a bit of a train wreck really...
Hollis and Lily were high school sweethearts but broke up ten years ago. After rough few years, Hollis got into a band and is now world famous. Lily stayed back, went to college and after a bad relationship, she is focused on work. When he comes back home they ran into each other again and sparks fly. But giving a second chance it's hard, especially when everything is on the line.
The story is a dual point of view, with lots of feelings from both sides and with a lot of flashbacks. While I like the general storyline, I had such a hard time getting into it.
I enjoyed this book. Honestly didn't enjoy that most of the book was set in the past instead of the present but It was still a good book. Definitely hope there is another.
What an emotional roller coaster! Second chance romance is quickly becoming one of my favorite tropes and this book was no different, I will be picking up more from this author in the future.
with dual POV and a past/present timeline that flashes back and forth, this book features Hollis and Lily trying to find their way back to each other after breaking up as teenagers ten years ago. they were each other’s first love and both cling to the past as they can’t seem to move on from their feelings for each other.
Let me just say that i read this book in one one day so i was thoroughly entertained and invested in finding out what would eventually happen between the two. with that said, i don’t like how miscommunication, or lack of communication completely, was the main problem throughout the book. EVERY time Hollis and Lily had a chance to talk things out, they thought they knew what was best for the other person and ended up making pivotal decisions in their relationship that negatively affected each other. GAH! i just wanted them to talk to each other.
despite the miscommunication, i didn’t feel connected to any of the characters. i think Hollis was the most dynamic and engaging character but all the other characters seemed flat and dull.
again, the story was engaging, albeit frustrating at times, but i did enjoy my time while reading it. i think it could have been better, though, with more engaging character and fixing some of the miscommunication problems to make the relationship more believable. but all in all, it was an intense but good story.
thank you net gallery for the arc!
I was given a free ARC for an honest review.
Letters & lyrics started strong, I really enjoyed learning about Lil and Hollis but unfortunately the dual POV and changing between past and present chapters was too much for me and i struggled to understand when certain scenes were taking place..

I loved reading this book, it got my attention from the beginning. I love the relationship between lily and Hollis and really enjoyed the dual POVs. Going in to the past and telling their beginning really helped you grasp the the way this break up destroyed both of them.
Highly recommend this book if you like second chance romance
I really enjoyed the love story of the main characters and the connection was very believable and thats what really drew me in. I felt like too much was thrown in and the combination of dual pov On top I’m going back-and-forth between the past and the present got a little confusing I think if it was broken into two different parts with one being the past and one the present it would have been a lot better. I did enjoy it and I do recommend it if you like a second chance rockstar romance!
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I read this book in a day because i couldn’t put it down. It had me at page one. The twists and turns. The ups and downs. The first love. The ending. It was the best book i have read in a while! Two thumbs up!!! I rooted for this couple the entire time!
This was such a fun and quick read I really enjoyed everything about it so much loved the characters the plot definitely recommend for others to read
This was my first read by Leah Parker and it was a good book. I’m not a fan of past and present books but this was done well. Hollis and Lily honestly needed their time apart to find themselves and focus on their wants. They both had troubled upbringings and clung to each other which was not healthy.
I look forward to reading more from this author
Letters & Lyrics
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
When Lily gave her heart to Hollis 10 years ago she asked him not break it.
So when a trip to Florida ends in more heartbreak than Lily can handle, she embarks on a life she never imagined: a life without Hollis.
But when they are reunited after years apart Lily is forced to face the reality of what happened all of those years ago. And Hollis is determined to win her back - no matter what.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a quick read that I found myself not wanting to put down. I was invested in Hollis and Lily and found myself wanting to know what happened 10 years ago that left Lily so broken.
Told from a dual POV, you also get to experience what happened in the past and the present. I did feel like Lily had moments where she was insanely childish and was punishing Hollis over and over again despite his desperate attempts to apologize.
I do want to note that some trigger warnings should be issued for this as it does deal with domestic violence, abuse, depression, suicide, as well as has scenes that detail self-harm.
Such a wholesome second chance romance with dual pov. I enjoyed the double timeline as well. We get to know and understand the characters to the point we can’t help but fall in love with them. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a good love story.
"Letters & Lyrics" by Leah Parker is a laidback, casual read featuring a dual POV. It quickly pulls you into the angsty, teenage lives of Lily and Hollis. As a former angsty teenager myself there was a lot of nostalgia held in these pages between the first love and punk rock music.
I really enjoyed the plot, but did find it very predictable. There were so many times when reading that I grew frustrated and just wanted to lock Lily and Hollis in a room together until they sorted their issues out and could move on.
There were a number of instances where drugs and excessive drinking felt glamorized - that was the biggest strike against this book. Otherwise, I did really enjoy it.
TW: self-harm, drugs, domestic violence
OMG, this has to be one of the cutest laugh out loud hot sexy romances I have read in awhile. Perfect afternoon read.

Second Chance / Rockstar Romance
What's not to love about that? I received an ARC copy and this is my first NetGalley read. This is a dual POV story is about Hollis and Lily's high school romance and them finding each other out. Lots of ups and downs, miscommunication, and a couple of trigger warnings (ex: self harm, alcohol abuse, abuse), and a hint of spice.
Kenzie has to be one of my favorite characters. There were times where it felt a little rushed, but overall the story was pretty good.
