An excellent read on writing and story!
The beginning chapters were a wee bit nebulous, but I still enjoyed the account of stories throughout culture and history. The main meat is when he transitions to storytelling tips—SO many gems there. It’s not so much a “Do XYZ” as, “widely-acclaimed books seem to have these traits in common, so keep them in mind.” Which I appreciated. There’s all sorts of practical advice, but more of a focus on what to strive for, and I really appreciated him putting into words so many things I’ve thought before about good writing, but haven’t articulated. I think many readers/writers will find that as well.
Grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc—I’ll be ordering a hard copy.
