Wendy Dranfield's book Catch Her Death (Detective Madison Harper Book 5) is a hair-raising page-turner. The author is an expert at misdirecting readers who are desperately trying to figure out her plot twists. As one of my favorite novelist, Dranfield always delivers a bone-chilling story.

Synopsis:
As Christmas approaches in the small community of Lost Creek Colorado, a young child is found buckled in his car seat. Just inches from the little boy, his mother's lifeless body lies in the front seat of their car. Her attacker brutally bludgeoned her to death. Detective Madison Harper is called to investigate the horrific murder. Will Madison be able to track down the killer and bring them to justice before they strike again?

Catch Her Death grabs your attention from the first chapter. A blizzard is approaching during the holidays. Madison and her team must catch the killer of a mother murdered while her child watched. Is there anything scarier than that? In fact, there is, but you'll have to read the book to find out more. In her latest installment of the Detective Madison Harper series, Wendy Dranfield ticks off all the boxes of a suspenseful thriller.

Catch Her Death (Detective Madison Harper Book 5) by Wendy Dranfield is available on September 9th. (4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫)

Wow and here I thought it would be impossible to beat the last book but I was wrong, this book takes the series to the next level, and might be my favorite one as of yet , the characters have grown so much since the first book , and you can definitely see them coming into their personality. It has a bit of everything suspense, intrigue, action, murder, serial killer, family drama .

Why does someone kill? People have different motives, based on the things they went through. The traumas they have are the results of the horrible events they had either to witness,  to undergo or maybe, for some, even both. They had to deal with all of this at an often very young age. More than once they were not given the right  treatment or no treatment at all.

It’s only natural they cannot cope. They cannot move on. Their frustrations and helplessness has to come out somehow. That’s when, sometimes, a serial killer is born. They get satisfaction for a while, but soon the effects wear off and they are forced to go on another killing spree.

I do not support them in that, but I do understand that it must drive them crazy. Do we have to blame the medial world? Maybe, but I also realise how hard it is to look inside someone’s head. Maybe they cannot corporate. Maybe they don’t want to. That leaves the therapists with their backs against the wall or should they keep on trying? Should they care more?

All this is hard to say and hard to prove. The only certainty is this: a poor disturbed person is let loose on innocent people.

I have read a few books by this author before. She writes series as well as stand alone stories and they all are excellent. They are full of suspense, fast paced and don’t forget the bucket load of emotions she has added to the mix.

The motives used in books are often the same, but the background differs of course. In my opinion, the author created a very original reason why this person turned into a killer. One sentence they overheard causing this click in their head.

Sometimes it’s not only what people say, but also when, where and in front of whom they do it.

A wonderful read where I suspected one person and changed my mind afterwards. I was still wrong though. 😉 5 brightly shining stars.

Thank you
