Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert was such a cozy and heartwarming read. The characters were lovable, the story had just the right mix of humor and charm, and it honestly left me smiling the whole way through. It felt like a warm hug in book form, and I’d definitely read it all over again just to experience that cuteness one more time.

This was an absolutely delightful book from start to finish. The characters were fun and the relationship started out not great but developed well

Thank you so much Random House Children’s, Talia Hibbert, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read Talia Hibbert’s Adult Romance books before, really enjoyed them, and was super excited to read this one too. It’s a Young Adult book, so obviously very different vibes, but Talia still managed to write a sweet and romantic story. I can confidently say this book successfully captured all the cute vibes and I was smiling constantly. It only took me a few hours to get through this book. I loved the enemies to lovers, slow burn, former friends, and miscommunication tropes throughout the book. One of my favourite things about this book was the banter between Celine and Bradley. The plot’s pacing wasn’t too slow or too fast, just right in the sweet spot where the story examined both Celine’s and Bradley’s lives along with their romance. For example, I enjoyed reading about Bradley’s OCD, because Men’s Mental Health is often overshadowed and Celine’s relationship with her father and how it shaped her life as well. Overall, I thought this was an excellent book and would highly recommend it to others. 4/5 stars.

3 stars. I found the FMC to be slightly insufferable but the story was interesting and fun enough. Definitely prefer Hibbert's adult writing.

“You don't need to be special or significant to have value. You're just important, always, and people either see that or they don't.”

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute was unfairly cute. It has been a while since I've read a book written by Talia, and I'm so happy that I was able to do so today. In this, you will meet Celine and Bradley. They used to be childhood best friends until they weren't. Then they were enemies until they weren't. While I love a good enemies-to-lovers relationship, I kind of wanted more of the enemies part. That might sound a little weird, but I feel like it was resolved so quickly.

Anyways, the romance between these two was really freaking adorable. I also liked how emotional things could get and how much growth these two went through. I couldn't relate to everything that happened, like parental abandonment, but I still liked how it was all done. I also thought some things were going to be bigger than they were, but I still enjoyed this.

In the end, I recommend the audiobook! It was really easy to listen to and flew by.

4/5 ⭐️

This was my first book by Talia Hibbert and it won't be my last! The characters and storyline were awesome. You'll want to grab this for your TBR!

The absolute cutest YA romcom! Celine and Bradley used to be best friends, until Brad got popular in high school and Cel felt left behind. Now they’re enemies, but like, the sweetest snarkiest ‘there might be something there that wasn’t there before’ type enemies! 😌😆🩷

I forgot how much I love Talia Hibbert. Her characters are hilarious with the best banter and so much depth. Brad has obsessive compulsive disorder and Celine is emotionally closed off due to some drama with her father, and both issues were handled with such care. Just really well done. 🙌

Their families and friends were precious as well and overall I found this to be super entertaining, encouraging, and heartwarming. 🩷🩷🩷🩷 Thank you Random House and Joy Revolution for the arc!

This is an instant YA favorite from one of my favorite romance writers!

Celine x Bradly come alive through the page. Their witty banter, anxieties, and romance will speak volumes to teens who are navigating the waters of high school. It was also incredibly cute and SO FUNNY.

I highly recommend to add to your collections!

CWs: OCD, anxiety, absentee parent

this was super cute but was still about to bring up those discussions of what it’s like to be finishing high school and not knowing what the heck you’re doing (me) i love talia hibbert and i hope she writes more young adult! <3 it’s also childhood friends to enemies to lovers which is the only way i’ll enjoy a friends to lovers story.

I was absolutely obsessed!!! Talia brought all the banter, humor, and personality from her adult romance novels and infused it into this YA one so spectacularly! Bradley and Celine are so funny together and I was truly rooting for them from the get go! This story was so cute and so well done!! 100/10 no notes!!

DNF @ 140~ pages

I heard so many great things about this one but unfortunately it was not for me.

I liked the first person dual pov, but I really could not stand Celine. She was extremely annoying. Her reasoning behind not talking to Brad was sort of ridiculous and that she never talked to him about it. I also think the camping scholarship was so random, especially for two people wanting to go into Law. And the banter was weird. At times, I felt that Celine was being mean more than being flirty and I didn’t like that. Brad was better at the flirty banter.

I did like Bradley’s character. I thought his OCD was well written and really highlights the mental health struggles people can have. I also really liked the bisexual rep. The one thing Talia Hibbert does well is representation. Sadly, his character alone was not enough to keep me interested enough to finish the book.

I really enjoyed Hibbert’s Brown Sisters books but this one was not for me unfortunately.

This was a cute romance book that did a good job of appealing to YA audience without seeming childish. I enjoyed the use of tropes like enemies to lovers and academic rivals. Additionally, the OCD representation added another layer of depth to the story.

Talia, you can do no wrong. This book was a true delight. I loved these characters. Talia does such a great job making you immediately fall in love with her female leads!

This book fell a bit flat for me which was disappointing considering I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s other work. I know this was a YA novel but it seemed to lack all of the engaging qualities her Romance books have. I would not read another YA by this author again.

Talia Hibbert has a very unique voice in all of her books and I really enjoy her point of view. Although this is a departure form her Adult Romance books, this YA installment is definite something I recommend reading.

All of Hibbert’s protagonists are strong women and there is often a character depicting a mental health struggle. In this book, Bradley the MMC has OCD. Both of the MCs also ae overachievers and unique. I have never read a character who is a high school teenage who wants to be a lawyer but also has a pension for conspiracy theories.

The romance and banter were a highlights. The characters started off as friends to enemies to friends to lovers. They also had family connections and the supporting characters also added to the story. Especially for those who are coming of age, I thought the relationships (friendship and romantic) were good models of realistic flawed people coming together. For those overachieving teenagers, this also depicted that success is not everything.

The ending was not my favorite but I think the overall book was worth reading!

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for the honest review.

I loved Hibbert's YA debut. This book was adorable and had all the best tropes - childhood best friends, to enemies and academic rivals. As always I loved the diversity in this book and in so many other by this amazing author! "You're the bane of my existence. Did you know that?" She grins, "I hoped". I loved Brad and Celine's chemistry and banter. Totally precious and adorable read!

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert caught my attention when I heard several of my high school students discussing it. I loved Hibbert's other novels about the Brown sisters so I had to give this one a shot too. It was such a pleasant, and deep, book with a great story that focuses on high schoolers and portrays accurately the things they must decide and endure in those years. At the same time as covering some intense emotions, she writes a hilarious dialogue that literally had me laughing out loud. This is one that I will absolutely recommend to my students.
