Thank you to NeGalley, Tor/MacMillan, and Brandon Sanderson for the advance extended preview of The Lost Metal.
Mistborn era one give me big ending impression. Honestly i take my time to start era two with totally new characters, setting and style. But he is my fave author and he never failed me to deliver such intrigue story with well built world building and beautiful character arc. Era two easily worming it is way through my heart as the previous era.
This extended preview bring us back to the unique world with glimpse past life/family of our fave characters. Small chapters to anticipated the waiting but intriguing enough to keep us patience haha.. My son and I devoured this copy very fast and wishing we can read the full copy.
The Mistborn series always held a special place in my heart and this spin-off series has been just so wonderful. As soon as I got this excerpt, I dove right in. It was so great jumping right back into the world of Wax and Wayne. Sanderson has such a unique and wonderful talent of mixing a perfect balance of humor and action and fantasy. The magic and powers in this series are so good and I love the character dynamics. Everyone is a perfect balance to each other and the intrigue built is just captivating. The politics and the adventure are top notch and I adored seeing Wayne and Marasi working together. They have such wonderful chemistry and I love the partnership of Wax and Steris. Sanderson’s writing is smart and engaging and just witty. It was a pleasure reading this first section, and I cannot wait to see where this story goes!
I requested this so fast thinking it was the whole book but it's just an extended excerpt... But what a juicy one! I can't wait to read the whole thing. I love these characters a lot!
I didn't realize this want the whole book but the part that was available was fantastic. Can't wait for the full book!
Thank you to NeGalley, Tor/MacMillan, and - most importantly - to Brandon Sanderson for the advance extended preview of The Lost Metal.
6 years after the Bands of Mourning were discovered (and the book published) we reunite with Wax, Wayne, Steris, Marasi, and the rest of those we’ve been following in the second Era of Sanderson’s Mistborn series. Along with the characters we’ve become so invested in, we are re-acquainted immediately with Sanderson’s classic wry wit, inventive new applications of seemingly well-worn magic systems, humor, and tension.
I read this preview in a single sitting and can’t wait for the rest of this book to be published. If you haven’t done so already, read Mistborn immediately!
Did not realize this was only an excerpt upon requesting. Promising, but I need to read the rest before giving a full review.
Probably one of my most anticipated book of the year. Mistborn Era 1 is still better than Era 2 in my opinion, but I understand the direction that Mr. Brandon Sanderson is going with this. This series explores more about the magic system and the world that was already established in Era 1, evolved in a more civilized and modern-esque society. What I liked about this Era was the exploration of Hemalurgy, how Mr. Sanderson wanted to take this idea a step further.
I have not read the excerpt (first 10 Chapters) of this because I want to get the full experience of immersing myself into the story when I read the completed, edited, and final version. Thanks to NetGalley nonetheless.
I'm excited to see what Sanderson does with this new novel.
It has a long time jump between books -- just what I love. I feel like time jumps (when done right, which I have every expectation that this book will) breathe new life into a series, allowing us to explore interesting long-term ramifications and relationships.
The tone is just like what we've gotten out of the other Mistborn Era 2 books: a little goofy, a lot of wordplay, and seriously high stakes.
