I was so pleased to have the opportunity to preview the first ten chapters of The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson! I always thoroughly enjoy his books, and the Mistborn Series is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. This book is the fourth in the Second Era of the Mistborn series and the seventh overall. It takes place several years after the conclusion of the previous book, The Bands of Mourning. Wax, Wayne, Marasi, and Steris are still trying to find the shadowy and powerful organization/cult, the Set, and prevent Elendel from descending into civil war.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I may like the Second Era even better than the first. The characters are vibrant and I am so fond of them! Steris and Marasi are two of my absolute favorite female characters to ever appear in a fantasy novel. They are interesting, relatable, and flawed in their own ways. I adore them! Getting seeing how the relationship between Wax and Steris has developed in this book makes my heart so so happy! I have a feeling Wayne is in for some character development, and I can’t wait to see where that goes. I’m also excited to see how the mystery plays out. The initial groundwork in the first ten chapters already has me theorizing.

Honestly, the only downside to this preview was that I have to wait until November to read the rest of the book!

I really enjoyed reading this preview. Knowing how the other books went, I know that ten chapters barely scratched the surface of all the plot twists to come. I’m sure I’ll love the rest of the book even more than what I’ve read so far. If you enjoy heists, fantasy, well-integrated magic systems, and vast worldbuilding, and you haven’t read the rest of the Mistborn books, then I highly recommend the whole series! Then you too can anxiously await the release of The Lost Metal.

Devastated to only be able to read the first section of this book, but I will soak up every word that I can. I can't speak for the book as a whole, obviously, but this taste was more than enough to get me hyped for the publication date. This is sure to be a great finale for Wax and Wayne.

This book was purely AMAZING! I so loved the world building, and the characters are well fleshed out! The magic system is interesting and fun to read about. I really enjoyed this new MistBorn novel, as well as the rest of this series!! I highly recommend this book to all MistBorn Fans!

A great ending to a wonderful saga of novels. Brandon knocked it our if the park. It was not as strong of an ending as the original Mistborn, but overall this one was a lot of fun.

I simply cannot WAIT to get my hands on the full book in November. I've been anxiously awaiting another Mistborn installment for years and it's finally HERE!!!!

This excerpt was well written and in the style of other books in this series. The characterisation and detail was well fleshed out. I would recommend this title to other people but would need to read the whole book to completely recommend it.

Characters are wonderful as usual...love Wayne so much! Only disappointment was that I thought this was the whole book, but it was an excerpt. Now I have to wait until November to get the rest....

Well, I couldn't want to wait any longer after reading this extended version of The Lost Metal.

Mistborn series is my favorite series in Cosmere. It's true that Mistborn still pack of action packed scenes from another Cosmere series, Stormlight Archive, but still the world building is gripping me and never let me go away. The second era itself has a super different vibe from the first one. But, That's not a bad thing. Actually, it's a great thing. I Adore Sanderson's works and

The long awaited sequel and conclusion to Misborn era 2, “The Lost Metal” starts years later after the ending of Bands of Mourning. Of the few chapters I’ve read, I can already tell this will be a conclusion of epic proportions. The political intrigue is riveting and the possible character arcs I’m predicting have me anxious to get my hands on the completed work. But the best part so far, are the character relationships. I was smiling the whole time through. November can’t come fast enough

This sample makes me all the more excited to read the finished novel. I am very excited. The time jump was unexpected, but I really like where the characters start, and it adds a level of tension that wasn't there before. Especially when it comes to Wax.

I CANNOT WAIT for the rest of this book. I almost didn't read this excerpt because I hate reading something and getting excited for the rest of the book only to have to wait. But I am so excited to see how this book finishes up. Sanderson is a genius

It was right after I finished the ARC release (first 10 chapters) of The Lost Metal when I realized that, for the most part, any review would prove moot. It’s Sanderson; you’re either one of the faithful, or you just haven’t been converted yet. He’s the Michael Jordan of authors; the undisputed, the GOAT.

My review could literally say “It’s Sanderson, Sandersoning all over the place, and proving why nobody has ever Sandersoned quite as well”, and the Cosmere faithful would simply nod their heads sagaciously and be like “yep, that’s what we expected, preach on Brother Wells”.

Not that I want my review to devolve into Smurf-levels of absurdity, but honestly, there’s very little new that can be said.

Yes, it’s more Wax, Wayne, Marasi, and Steris…and that is always cause for celebration. The good news? Wayne and Marasi get more page time. The bad news? Well, the fact that the ARC is limited to just the first ten chapters is really a bummer. Outside of that, it’s the same great fantasy/western mashup that fans know and love.

Which, for this reviewer, is music to my ears. As much as I loved the first three Mistborn novels, I find that the Second Age arc is more engaging. Something about the Wild West feel, along with the established history from the first trilogy, just speaks to me on a whole other level. I love a well-done mashup of genres, and nobody does it better than Sanderson.

There are really no cons here; whatever little quibbles I had with word repetition will certainly be resolved when the final copy is released.

This is just Sanderson doing what he does best; all killer, no filler. There is a time-jump between the end of The Bands of Mourning and the start of The Lost Metal, and it makes sense with how the story needs to progress. Time jumps are great when handled well and infuriating when not. Of course, Sanderson handles it as expected...like a boss. We even get a little more insight into Wayne’s past, which was most welcome. I’m just going to consider this ARC as the “trailer” for the book proper, and I am ridiculously excited to jump back into this fascinating world of Allomancers and Feruchemists when the full novel releases in November.

I missed this group of characters so much! And the magic system! And the world! I started re-reading the second age to prepare for this last book, and the excerpt got me even more excited with everything the closer of the secong age has to offer. I can't wait to get the complete book in my hands.

Oh gosh, this excerpt is like coming home to a warm house on a cold autumn day. How much I had missed these characters, I truly had not realised.

After a brief peek into Wayne's past, things start off with an explosive bang, both under the streets and in the parliament house. The book being set six years after the Bands of Mourning shows how tensions between the capital city, the outer cities and the southern continent are simmering away, not far from boiling point.

Alas, ten chapters was not enough! It wet my appetite for more, bringing me home to Elendel, a home I had not realised I missed until I was back there again.

Sanderson writes with such passion, making each character come alive on the page. I can not wait until the rest of this book is in my hands, so I can fall into my second home once again, and let the richness, the dramatic and brilliant world that Sanderson has created fill me up once again.

I’m a sucker for all things written by Brandon Sanderson. I have read all of the Mistborn books and so am very excited for this upcoming book. I enjoyed this preview of the book and am looking forward to its release.
The book has Wax as a politician, married and with children. Wayne is working as a constable with his partner, Marasi.
The story begins with them on a case that leads them to a group smuggling goods in and out of the Basin. And one of the people that Marasi fights is a Feruchemist with multiple spikes. This preview definitely wet my appetite and I will be picking up this book on release day. For those who enjoyed the other books in the Mistborn series, I think we have another winner!

Very interesting excerpt. Mistborn kickstarted my love for reading, and I'm fascinated by how much the world has evolved. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of steampunk fantasy with a very original magic system.

The Lost Metal takes a time jump from The Bands of Mourning. It's exciting to see everyone again and find out what they are doing now that they're older and a bit settled down.

Big changes are happening in the capital Elendel now that there is travel and trading with the Southern Continent.

Marasi is amazing as always, and I'm glad she's front and center in these beginning chapters.

If you've read Mistborn up until now, of course you are going to read this book. And from what I've read of these chapters, The Lost Metal is going to deliver.

I should not have downloaded this...because now I have to wait until Nov for the rest of the story, lol. Not to mention every time I read a new a book a Mistborn novel (or in this case an excerpt) it always makes me want to re-read the entire series. Sanderson always delivers!

This 10-chapter excerpt made me even more excited for the book to come out! We have been waiting a long time and I am so excited. I loved getting a small glimpse of the characters and how they have progressed 6 years after the events of Bands of Mourning AND we got a Hoid right in the early chapters!
