Thank you Simon & Schuster Canada and netgalley for the e-arc.
I’ve been playing catch up (this was released over a year ago). I ended up bingeing the audiobook in one day. I have to say that I throughly loved it. Being immersed in this celebrity world with Liv and Ransom. The reboot of the show that they starred in together 20 years. The gossip, the tabloids. A second chance at romance. All very much PG but very much enjoyable. My only quip is I did not like the mmc’s name (Ransom). It just didn’t do it for me.
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the advance copy!
I'm a sucker for a romance story stuck in the celeb world and as someone who was a teen amid the Disney kids era and fully invested in their lives, The Reunion gave me all the feels. Liv and Ransom's story felt so realistic as we follow them years after their hit show ended and they are thrown back together to film a reunion special. All seems well, except being back in the spotlight opens up a multitude of emotions for Liv and Ransom, and they eventually need to figure out if they want to leave things as they are or forever change their relationship.
It's a heartwarming story and Kayla Olson does a remarkable job drawing the reader in and making them invested in the story. It was quick and perfect summer weekend read.
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the advance copy!
I enjoyed reading the story about Liv and Ransom. Two actors that practically grew up together on screen. They're brought back together for a cast reunion and that would have been fine but they hadn't spoken to each other in years.
Sometimes feelings don't ever get resolved or ever go away and sometimes it takes a wakeup call to realize what's been there all along.
Living life under a spotlight isn't all that it's cut out to be... Especially when it comes to having a personal life and relationships.
Kayla Olson did a wonderful job expressing the multitude of emotions, experiences and the complexity of the relationships in this story. I enjoyed reading it and was sad to see it end!
Got two chapters in and gave up because I cannot take how it's written. It is so clunky and info-dumpy that it's genuinely annoying to read.
Like Gossip Girl but they're actors and Gossip Girl is acutally just TMZ.
If you go into this thinking it's the behind the scenes of a infamous family sitcom/drama getting back together for a reboot. Imaging the drama between case members, one's who are still friends and those who haven't spoken for years. The tabloids reporting their every move. THEN this is a book for you.
It's not a romance... Despite being marketed as a romance its 100% women's fiction and the romance is very minimal. Two actor co-stars who grew up together on the same show (I'm assuming a girl meets world type thing because its "Girl on the Verge" but i haven't watched it.) Liv's always been inlove with him.
I say the romance is so minimal because they were never together at first and it's not dual timeline so you can't even see how they acted before. and then once they start interacting again to do the reunion special, Liv is still in-love with him and eventually when they do get together their interactions aren't much, they hang out like one or twice. Really the whole focus is on Liv and her career decisions, she's so in demand and is struggling to decide if she even wants to do a reboot. I'd say it's women's fiction with a romance *sub*plot.
I very much still enjoyed this and would say 4 stars but since it's marketed as romance and there's barely any I'm gonna acutally give it 3 and would still recommend.
Thank you SO much Netgalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for both the ebook and physical ARC of this book. (I apologize for taking so long to read it, don't hold it against me please.)
Really enjoyed reading this book. If you're looking for something quick to read, I would definitely recommend reading The Reunion. And Liv and Ransom had such a chemistry!!!
Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC of this one.
I was excited by the premise of this one - second chance romance + Hollywood romance - sign me up. Unfortunately it ended up being only a three star read - the plot dragged a bit and I felt like the characters and their relationship and chemistry could have been further developed.
Thank you Simon & Schuster Canada for an ARC.
tI started reading the Reunion a few days ago to balance out a scarier book that I was reading. This story was about an actor who was in a show in her youth called Girl on the Verge where she portrayed Honor and her love interest was Duke portrayed by Ransom. Liv and Ransom had been best friends on the show and she had a major crush on him but he didn't seem to be interested in her at all and after the show ended they lost touch. The writers have decided to do a reunion and Ransom and Liv are both participating in the show. Except Live realizes that her crush hasn't faded at all over the years.
I hadn't heard of this author before but was attracted to the book by the cover as it looked like a sweet read that would be a distraction that could be read quickly. If you are looking for a book to take with you on cruise, vacation, or sit on the beach with a glass of wine this would be one. I would read another romcom by her if she wrote another one. The book was a quick read. I don't enjoy reading books that have miscommunication between characters in them as I find it annoying. Fortunately this section didn't have too much of a focus in the story. I would rate this book a solid 3.5 stars.
Although nicely written, The plot did not entice me. I felt the story was not moving along and the pace was too slow. It had à young adult vibe which is not my type. I gave up at 41% and I don’t give up easily. I just never felt like continuing the story. Might just not be for me.
This book felt like a walk down memory lane. I guess it was for the characters, I have no idea why I felt such a huge wave of nostalgia though, but I did. This book had me from page one. The story was so cute and it was hard not to fall in love with Liv and Ransom. Their chemistry was perfect. If this was a tv show I would 100% watch it. Not only did I enjoy watching their friendship/relationship grow, I love the growth that they both experienced individually. I love that their were hard choices for them, cause that's like. Liv's inner struggle and her desire to please everyone is something I can absolutely connect with.
This is one I can definitely see myself rereading and sharing with all of my friends.
Thank you so much to Artria and Simon & Schuster for the Advanced E-Reader Copy. All thoughts and comments are my own.
I instantly fell in love with the main characters and could not put the book down. I loved the idea of a reunion tv show and loved the articles and blogs in between chapters.
This was a solid 3 star read for me. I liked it fine but it did not stand out to me. The use of fake social media names takes me out of the story, but otherwise I really enjoyed the formatting and use of newspaper and e articles (very reminiscent of Evelyn Hugo).
I didn't enjoy some of the pacing, I felt it really dragged in places and their romance seemed very instalove. I understand they have chemistry from their past, but 20 years and immediate feelings!?
I felt the potential for this one was really there, I really enjoyed the world building and the premise was very interesting. But I just was not getting the angst I wanted with a second chance romance.
I found their reasoning for their break a little juvenile and a bit crazy they would keep their distance for so long because of it and that kind of threw me off too.
Overall I enjoyed the setting and characters but the pacing and overall execution of the story wasn't for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and Simon & Schuster Canada for this E-Arc in exchange for an honest review ❤️
A second chance romance of two teen stars (Liv and Ransom) who come back to film the reunion episodes for their hit TV show (Girl on the Verge) from 20 years ago. After spending their adolescence playing on-screen love interest, and real life best friends, betrayal leaves Liv running away from everything to focus on indie films and spending her days out of the spotlight. Ransom has only gotten better with age, and this show was such a huge part of her life, but is it worth the price that comes with it. Will Liv find that returning to her past is what she needed or is a fresh start what she truly needs? Will Ransom ever be more that her best friend or will it end in flames?
The character of Liv Latimer is so sweet and lovely, Ransom Joel is handsome and delicious. I was so hooked by the plot, characters, and settling within the first few chapters that I felt like I was in this world. Liv’s house is my favourite part of this book, I felt like I was at the beach and I love Liv’s life. I continued to read in hopes that chemistry would develop between the main characters but it fell flat. The plot was really fascinating in the beginning, but then it kind of just plateaued for a lot of the book. There wasn’t a climax that had the reader invested are interested. If the writer spent more time to develop the chemistry, and flush out a more engaging plot with a true climax, this would’ve been a really good story.

I do love a solid celebrity romance. This book definitely hit the all of the marks for things I wanted to see in it. It did take me awhile to get into this book as there were a lot of names you needed to learn at a rather quick pace. Even after I finished the book, I found myself asking who certain people were or what they would have been important to the plot for.
I really liked Liv and found that a lot of the things she went through were tough. I did however find her annoying in the sense of “oh whoah is me” in regards to Ransom. She was the one who had told him to not contact her and then was upset when he stuck to what she had asked him to do? I hate the miscommunication trope and this was the epitome of what that looks like.
Ransom was a pretty great male lead for this story. I did truly applaud his restraint in not contacting Liv for 14 years. His pursuit of Liv was one that I enjoyed as he really did care about her and you could just sense how much he loved her, even from their early years of being on the show together.
Overall, this book was good! It was a solid debut and did make me feel all the things. However, I just found that I couldn’t connect super well with the characters, and that may be due to the length of time that it took me to read the book (11 days) or maybe just the story that they were telling about their second chance love. But, either way I did enjoy this read and if you want a celebrity romance you might as well!

Thank you @simonschusterca for this finished copy in exchange for my honest review! All of the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
It’s always hard not to enjoy a second chance romance. I enjoyed how fast paced the story developed and the chemistry between Liv and Ransom! The banter between the two is what kept me wanting more.
Read if you like:
- hollywood love
- friends to lovers
- second chance romance
Only thing missing is a little heat and a few flashbacks to their original days on the show. That would have added another dimension and helped the reader understand their past.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
It’s been 14 years since filming wrapped on Girl on the Verge, and since Ransom and Liv have really spoken. After playing love interests on the premier teen drama of their time, their close off-screen friendship takes a downward turn at the end of filming the final season. When the twentieth anniversary of the show’s premiere brings back its original cast for a reunion episode, Liv and Ransom realize that 14 years of distance wasn’t enough to extinguish their spark.
I finished this in one day - the story flowed so effortlessly, and I loved the use of pop-culture reporting and articles between each chapter. It helped keep things moving and give more context and information to work with(plus they were so accurate to celebrity gossip seen online)
Ransom and Liv were electric from their first moments on page together, and even from their first text exchange of the book. Them coming back to each other like it hadn’t been over a decade and the reader believing their history and chemistry is so integral to second-chance or friends to lovers romances, and this one nailed it.
I wish there was more of Ford, because I was always smiling when he was around (perhaps we get his story next??? 👀)
Liv’s anxiety about the press and too much exposure is very justified, and I have no idea what it would be like to be in her shoes, but I think she handled everything quite well. There were little details that I didn’t put together about her father’s death that I can’t believe I didn’t see earlier(I was totally sucked in to the story to the point of not thinking 😂)
Overall, this was a really fun read, and I’d definitely revisit it!
3.5 rounded up.
This was a fun second chance romance between two former childhood television stars who are brought back together for a reunion show. I liked it well enough but have been finding this trope a bit tired if I'm honest. The book didn't have the emotional depth I was hoping for either and was pretty PG. Recommended for fans of books like Birds of California or Built to last. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
Childhood friends/crush and a second chance romance, all set on a tv show backdrop - I couldn't pick this book up faster!
Although overall I liked this story, especially the ending (swoon), I just felt it lacked a bit of detail or depth for the characters. Having now finished the book, I still feel like I dont know much about the main lead (other than his action star fame and his love of kittens (swoon again). This book really gave a detailed description of what life on a TV set is like and what life as a teen star was like ... with the romance almost taking a backseat. The story was entertaining but I just wanted a bit more of their story and a little less behind the scenes of a TV show.
I'd definitely be up for reading a sequel about Fords romance in the future.
3,.5 stars
This book was so so so cute! I loved how much it reminded me of Boy Meets World and other shows I adored growing up. Though a bit more on the com than the rom side for my liking, I still thoroughly enjoyed this story! I just wish there were more romantic elements throughout!
3⭐️
The Reunion follows former teen stars Liv Latimer and Ransom Joel, who reconnect 14 years after the finale of their show "Girl on the Verge", to film a reunion episode. As they fall back into the comfort they once had, Liv questions how safe it is for her to fall for Ransom again, and whether he truly feels the same way in return.
The romance was cute, but not entirely memorable. I felt as if there was a lot more telling rather than showing when it came to Liv and Ransom's chemistry, and after 14 years of having no contact, I was expecting more reconnecting and more angst. Instead, it felt very insta-lovey, and even though they had the history they did, I still feel like it should have taken more for them to reconnect and fall in love again.
I loved Liv's relationships with the friends she did have in her life, and it was fun to read about the "behind-the-scenes" of Hollywood. Along that thread, the gossip columns before the chapters were fun! There were quite a few and it did become a bit redundant, but if you like gossip columns, then I think they were a cute addition. There were also a lot of social media references, but I appreciate the author's attempt at creating a different social media base, as I wasn't drawn out of the book as much.
Overall I liked this! Cute and easy friends to lovers read:) Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!
