Sorin found love only to loose through arrogance and death. Gia has lived for vengeance only to find it doesn't heal all wounds. But together will they find peace?
A Dragon's Desire is second in Shiloh Walker's The Pretern Wars. I enjoyed getting to know Sorin. His past was painful but his heart was pure. His actions hurt not only him but others. I love that he took responsibility for things that were not necessarily his fault. Secrets caused death but Sorin refused to use that as an excuse. I love that Ms. Walker allowed Sorin to find peace and love. Gia may not remember everything but she knows Sorin is important to her. She will not run from their past even if she doesn't quite understand. I love that Ms. Walker allowed this list souls to find each other. The have a joint purpose even while they find their footing.
I enjoyed this story and look forward to more in this series.

★★★ ½ #ADragonsDesire #NetGalley

Ready for heartbreak? This is a Shiloh Walker romance so brace yourself for angst. There are dragons, lost loves, and horrible humans. This book can be read as a standalone.

Sorin is a byproduct of a dragon and human love. This book immediately starts on a sad note and pretty much continues on this melancholy note until the bitter end. It moves me and I enjoyed the tear-jerking novel.

What I like about Ms. Walker's writing style is how she packs in the back story so easily in a chapter and then brings the reader to the meat of the tale. Sorin's youthful arrogance caused him to make a mistake that cost him more than he expected. I find that Sorin's mistake is based on miscommunication that his soulmate should have also stated. It should not have all been on Sorin. Still, this is Ms. Walker novel and more oft than not, the male is the bad guy.

Sorin's second chance at romance comes in the form of Gia. Fast forward hundreds of years and Gia is Sorin's lost love in a new body and . . . species. Once they meet, the story's pace picks up with action, fighting, and betrayal.

The reason why this story does not receive a 4 star for me on Goodreads or my blog is that Gia's fight with the human hate groups drops in unexpectedly. This subplot takes over the romance and I felt unprepared for this new direction. It only took me a few paragraphs to get up to speed but it was an abrupt change. This is something I do not expect from Ms. Walker as usually blends her plots and subplots so well. Still, the story is good and I enjoyed it.

This story did end quickly and on a bittersweet note. I like that because we cannot all have happily ever afters for everyone. Have no fear, Sorin does receive his happily ever after with Gia. This paranormal romance is recommended to dragon lovers.

4.5 Stars

This is book 2 of the series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Parts of the book overlap timelines form the first book. This is a story about love that lasts through time. It is about courage and the willingness ti fight for those who cannot. It is about a love so deep, not even death can take it away.

Sorin and Gia have that love. They battle the oncoming humans who want the Preterns abolished. They plan for a future and leave the world a better place in their wake. I loved the story. But the epilogue has me so intrigued. I can't wait to find out where these two end up and where their friends and family land.

Wonderful story!

4 Stars! Very entertaining read that I really enjoyed. This is book 2 in ‘The Pretern Wars’ series and can be read as a standalone. I never read book one but had no trouble following along. I do wish there was more of an epilogue for Gia since at first I didn’t really know what was going on with her and Amy standing outside a home. Other than that though it was a great book. Very original and not something you’ve likely read before. Sorin and Adela/Gia were all lovable and I was rooting for them to find their HEA endings! I really love a strong, sassy main female character and this book didn’t disappoint. Magical wars, a dragon shifter and his powerful fae witches, backstabbing, forgiveness, reincarnation, loss, sadness, finding your lost love, steamy ‘sexy times’ and an HEA ending all add up to be one entertaining, original and captivating read!

This is more of a 3 1/2 for me. I enjoy this new series by Shiloh Walker. This story takes us into the past where Sorin falls for a human and ends up cursed after her death. He gets another chance when he meets Gia.

I liked this book, however, I really loved the first one.

A Dragon’s Desire is book 2 in the Pretern Wars series and is Sorin and Adela/Gia’s story. Their story is somewhat of a second chance that actually started hundreds of years earlier when an arrogant dragon falls in love with a mortal woman. Sorin’s actions end up leading to the death and destruction of Adela and the village she had sworn to protect. Realizing what he had done, he swore to continue to protect the village Adela was bonded to.

It is now the early days of the Pretern wars, the late 1990s, a weary Sorin is in America, so tired of war and blood starts to come alive again when he is face to face with a woman who had striking similarities to his lost love.

We follow along their journey as they remember what they meant to each other and as they face the coming war. They are confronted with evil and betrayal but fight it together. We also see sacrifices and heroes made. A very enjoyable read.

Thank you Netgalley and Independent Publishers Group, Shiloh Walker, Inc for the complimentary copy of A Dragon’s Desire. All opinions are my own.

3.75 stars-A DRAGON’S DESIRE is the second instalment in Shiloh Walker’s adult THE PRETERN WARS paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is dragon shifter Sorin, and Adela/Witchling Fae Gia’s story line. A DRAGON’S DESIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from third person perspective, covering several hundred years, A DRAGON’S DESIRE focuses on Zmeu dragon Sorin, a powerful beast who, hundreds of years earlier, fell hard for a human, a need that eventually killed the woman he could never love. Cursed to wander the world without friendship or love, Sorin eventually takes refuge in America, considering sleeping for all eternity. Fast forward to present day wherein Sorin, who now lays claim to a vast territory in the United States, is drawn to a stranger, a stranger who bears a striking familiarity to the woman he lost. Enter Gia, a witchling/Fae, a powerful supernatural in her own right but a woman who is protecting a young boy from a fate bestowed upon him by a powerful curse. As Gia, Sorin, Amy and her young son Wyn Bitterbirch, journey away from the hate that follows, a build up to war is directed at anyone not considered normal by human standards.

There is a war approaching, a war between the humans and ‘preternatural’ beings including witches and dragons, shifters and Fae. The revelation of ‘something other’ has provoked the fear of the unknown, and a war to decimate anything or anyone not of human blood is about to take hold, killing millions and destroying thousands of lives.

The relationship between Sorin and Gia is one of second chances, of a sorts. Gia is the embodiment of Adela, the woman Sorin wanted as a mate but a woman Sorin destroyed by his need and lust. Not necessarily a story of reincarnation but a tale of transmigration in which Adela’s memories, soul and magic are now a part of someone else. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

We are introduced to Amy, and her son Wyn Bitterbirch, a young boy who is a halfling Fae. The requisite evil has many faces.

A DRAGON’S DESIRE is a story of lust and need, obsession and revelation, discrimination and speciesism, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is entertaining, dramatic and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are powerful and strong.

When dragon Sorin finds his bride only to lose her to death, his grief leads him to a deep slumber. When the scent of a familiar magic awakens him he seeks it out. Gia is a witch when her best friend leads her into a trap it’s an arrogant but handsome dragon that comes to her assistance. But there’s something familiar. A great rid with lots of action.

A dragon falls for a mortal and his arrogance led to her death and a curse. Hundreds of years later, he met another woman who has the same eyes of the woman who loved him. ..

It's sexy, steamy and fun of course. Love both main characters. Both are head strong and smart. Great chemistry... it literally sizzles...

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
