In Love's Time was an excellent historical fiction read that had me intrigued with the story from the beginning.

In addition, I enjoyed learning more about the Britain's real life WWI Endell Street Hospital. I felt Author Kate Breslin incorporated this historical element of the story seamlessly with the rest of the book.

The story itself was beautiful; filled with hope and faith in the midst of hardship.

One of the best books I have read in 2022 -
I definitely recommend it!

In Loves Time
Review by Michelle St. Andrew
In Loves Time indeed!! I got the privilege to review Kate Breslins story, and let me just say.... Wow!!! If you've read any of her other books, you might remember M16....or... Marcus. But what you wouldn't of guessed is that Marcus is in love. He just doesn't know it quite yet. And we wonder as the pages get less and less, and more things happen out of his control, if he will truely ever find out. Will he keep choosing work, and the path he knows is dangerous? Or will he finally see that he is on the right path, just handling it wrong??
And what about the women?? The ones so near and dear to him? Will he finally see all that they are, and all they have been?? We hope so, but.... Will it be in time?
The thing I like most about reading Kate's novels is she has notes at the end explaining the history she researched, and she gives detailed facts in history. This makes her books very hard to put down and not think about until you pick them up again.
Pick up this book, a cup of tea, and a cozy blanket in a room with plenty of light. You're going to be there for a while!!!

In Love’s Time by Kate Breslin is a sequel-of-sorts to the author’s earlier novel Not by Sight featuring Jack and Grace Benningham. This couple appears in supporting roles throughout In Love’s Time while Clare and Marcus (side characters in Not by Sight) become the focus couple. From what I gather, the initial love story of Clare and Marcus is told in Not by Sight.

In Love’s Time continues Clare and Marcus’ romantic relationship by pulling from both the love triangle and second-chance romance tropes. My favorite portion of the novel resides in the middle where betrayal and yearning tangle to create great romantic tension between Marcus and Clare. I liked the reunification of these wonderful characters, but often felt I was missing pieces of their story as I haven’t read Not by Sight.

In Love’s Time by Kate Breslin held my attention throughout. I noted the narrative’s historical detail and learned a bit of Britain’s history during the WW1 time. The author’s note supplied some interesting historical information as well as references. Readers who have enjoyed Breslin’s previous novels, especially Not by Sight, will find In Love’s Time a lovely story of secrets, resilience, and romance. I look forward to rereading this novel after I’ve had a chance to read Not by Sight.

I could not help but fall completely in love with Kate Breslin’s latest, In Love’s Time. The characters, the storyline, the theme of love against all odds…It was simply spectacular. And while not jam packed with action from start to finish, this story exhibited a tenderness and steadfast endurance that drew me in. I grew to greatly admire our hero and heroine as they each fought their own battles. And one battle in particular resonated deeply – that of a mother willing to do anything to save her child.

In this novel, Breslin has crafted a story of depth and beauty, one that touched my heart deeply. I certainly was not ready for the story to end. The story of Marcus and Clare - their struggles, growth, and love - will certainly stay rooted in my heart for a long while.

I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I won a copy of this book through LibraryThing and I am freely giving my honest review.
I truly enjoyed this book. It was a fun read and I liked most of the characters. Of course, there is the bad guy in the story and even this one isn't horrid. The background of the story is WW2 but it's really not about the war.
What I did not like about the book was that when the story went from one scene to another there was no break and it really threw me. You'd be reading about two people having a conversation in one area and the next thing you know it's someone else in a totally different location. Hopefully, this will be fixed when it is published.
If you like Christian, historical fiction you will enjoy this book. It is Christian without being preachy, just shows faith at work.
I give this a solid 4 star review.

1918 Europe - This sweeping drama, fit for the silver screen, is a tender tale of enduring love in a time of war and duty, secrets and betrayal. I read eagerly with anticipation and hope to see how Marcus and Clare would overcome their trials and find their way back to each other.

Clare is a very guarded individual who has been hurt deeply in the past, making it difficult to trust. She is prone to jump to conclusions and even lash out in response to someone when she thinks they are being judgmental or critical. It is easy to connect with her and understand this struggle; I loved how realistically and believably this came across, as she is constantly reminding herself not to react so quickly and to think better of people and situations. There are more good people in the world than bad, like Marcus, who is a bit of a flirt but also dependable, honest, and caring.

Marcus proved his trustworthy nature in a previous incident (touched on in the background of a previous book), which sprouted the beginnings of a tender love story between him and Clare (never fear, you don’t need to read ‘Not By Sight’ in order to enjoy this story). Now, that trustworthiness is tested when he is assigned a top-secret mission with a beautiful woman posing as his fiancée.

This woman pays too much attention to Marcus at a dinner party (and ugh, I tried to give the woman the benefit of the doubt, but I could not stand her!) where Clare expects Marcus to propose to her. Left without the time and attention she expected, and without the longed-for proposal, Clare tries to push away her doubts and questions.

But when that misunderstanding brings on utter heartbreak, the trust they have worked so hard to build between them is shattered. I wanted to step into the scene right then and there and give Clare a hug and reassure her that things were not what they appeared! Marcus doesn’t have time to repair the damage—he has a job to do, and ‘duty and love don’t mix.’ But he enters that mission distracted, and praying to make it home to her to explain.

When things turn upside-down, lying and deceit surround him like an impenetrable fog…making the way between him and Clare seemingly impossible. And right about here, I wanted to shake some sense into his friends who went along with the whole charade.

Filled with danger, romance, family, and the resilience of the human spirit, this fight for love and future drew me with the escalating odds as time ran short. I felt for Clare in her struggles to care for and protect her young daughter—whom Marcus had restored to her in that previous book aforementioned, and for Marcus in his battle between duty and love and his fiercely kind and protective heart, longing for a bright future with Clare and her daughter.

A heart-aching novel for anyone who loves clean, gentle romance in war time mixed with danger and mystery, I recommend In Love’s Time.

Kate Breslin always weaves a fascinating piece of history into all her novels. In this case it introduced me to the Endell Street Hospital, which was Britain’s first all-female-run military hospital during WWI. Clare Danner is an orderly at the Endell Street Hospital and a single mother in 1918. Captain Marcus Weatherford has been a part of British Intelligence for years. They had been seeing each other for a time and Clare felt that a proposal of marriage might be coming from Marcus at any time. Marcus is hesitant to broach the subject until after the war due to the dangerous nature of his job. A war that many thought would only last a few months is now going into years. This is a story of commitment, sacrifice, espionage, and true love against all odds. “Because love won’t wait.”

My thanks to the author and Bethany House for an early copy of this book. The opinions here are entirely my own.

All of Kate Breslin’s stories are stand alone novels, yet they do have some connecting characters who have had small roles in previous books. That is definitely the case for the hero, Marcus. It was both wonderful and agonizing to have Marcus finally receive his story. Wonderful, because at the beginning of the novel, the reader knows how much Marcus loves Clare and that he wants to finally be able to begin a life with her. And agonizing as things do not fall into place to make that happen. Instead these two find themselves in unsettling circumstances that do not seem to have much hope of resolution.

I thought that Clare handled herself with beautiful resolve, even after suffering such a great heartache and also carrying the great fear that her daughter would be taken from her. I really liked the moments when she and Marcus were together and small emotional connections were made.

I also really enjoyed that Marcus’ sister, Fannie, had her own love story that began to develop in this book. There was such an sweet connection that Fannie and her love interest shared.

This story will keep you on the edge of your seat emotionally as you hope that good will prevail and love will overcome all obstacles!

What a compelling read! I really love stories set during WW1 and WW2. Those stories just have another level to them. This one set during WW1 was right up my alley. It's chock full of romance, intrigue, and danger. I enjoyed the tie into the Romanov family at the beginning and how that sets the stage for the developing mystery. Marcus and Clare are fantastic, and I really liked their chemistry and how that's threatened by the events in the novel. The drama surrounding Clare's daughter tore at my Mama heart and made the story a little hard to read at times, but the ending was wonderful and completely exciting. A fantastic read and I plan to go back soon and read Jack and Grace's story as I missed that one when it first released. An oversight I will soon rectify!

Kate Breslin has written another wonderful book, that is loosely tied to previous novels, but all considered standalone. Filled with plenty of intrigue and romance, I found myself eagerly turning the pages to see how the hoped for happy-ending would come about.
Marcus has found that life as a spy means holding those you love at arm's length in order to protect them. But will the price be too high? With danger threatening those she loves, can Clare find her way out of a difficult situation? Will they have enough faith to trust that God will provide an answer?
I love the supporting cast of characters, that flesh out Marcus and Clare's story, especially Marcus' grandfather and sister, Fannie.
Ms. Breslin includes wonderful historical detail with vivid descriptions that bring her novels to life. I especially enjoyed learning about the Endel Street Military Hospital in London, fully staffed by woman. Highly recommend this story for fans of WWI romance.

In Love's Time is my favorite out of all Kate Breslin's books! I couldn't stop reading!
I was so excited to finally read Marcus's story (character from her previous novels) and the wait was so worth it!
Marcus is on a secret mission which he cannot explain to Claire, the woman he loves. He loses his memory right before Claire witnesses a phony engagement between him and his mission partner (oh how easy it is to hate her!)
Claire believing this engagement, goes through heartache and pain, yet does all she can to help Marcus's memory return.
I absolutely love Claire, she is such a strong, compassionate character who has experienced so much pain in her life!
Will Marcus regain his memory before it's too late? Or will Claire have to lose so much for the sake of her young daughter?
This book was so wonderful! I was so sad when it finished.
I received an early copy and in no way was I required to leave a positive review.

This was my first Kate Breslin book and I simply devoured it. The well crafted storyline contained twists and turns in both the suspense and the romance which kept me turning pages past my bedtime. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the life stories of the main characters. Their family and friends were supportive, caring and interesting characters themselves. Breslin created an authentic setting keeping within the historical timeframe and I especially enjoyed the time spent at the family’s estate. The exciting part is that now that I have discovered this author, I can go back and read her previous novels while waiting for her next release. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I truly enjoyed this story. Kate Breslin really drew me into the plot of this engaging WWI tale! Filled with high stakes espionage, mistaken assumptions, a case of amnesia, an urgent custody battle, and ultimately a beautiful love story, In Love’s Time is the perfect read for the historical fiction fan and the romantic at heart. The characters were enjoyable from the start, yet it wasn’t long before they’d made a huge mess of things. I couldn’t wait to see how everything would manage to become untangled, driving me to keep reading. Complete with a twist at the end I didn’t see coming and more than a few as the story moved along, I never knew what to expect in all the best ways. Marcus and Clare (and all of the characters, really) felt so real to me and their problems made for a compelling story. I had not read the previous books in this story world yet I never felt lost. I can’t wait to go back and catch up, however! Especially with Jack and Grace’s story. Overall highly recommended and enjoyable read.

Breslin always scripts a beautiful story. She is such a wonderful author that she draws the reader into her story world with beautiful narrative, compelling plotting and fascinating characters. This is no exception.

It's WW1 in London and Clare Danner is a single mum struggling to make ends meet working as an orderly at a women-led military hospital. She's in a relationship with Charles Weatherford, a Captain in the Navy, who runs secretive and dangerous assignments for the SIS.

One such assignment leads to Charles suffering amnesia and he is sent home to Hampshire to convalesce on the hope the familiar surroundings will aid in his memory being restored. Clare, being trained in nursing, is sent to assist Charles in his recovery. But there is another complication: Charles on his assignment has become engaged to another woman, Natalya Bryce.

Much of the story involves Charles convalescence and the struggle for his heart waged by Clare and Natalya. The latter is an intriguing character. There's a mysteriousness to Natalya, much of which isn't fully revealed until the end of the story, which I found a little off-putting.

There is so much to like about this story especially Clare and Marcus, their romance, and their strong characters. There is also a strong supporting cast, particularly Charles's family members, sister Fannie being a delight, as well as friends Jack and Grace. The Weatherford residence in Hampshire is a treat with its secret passageways and many stories.

And of course, Breslin's story-crafting, which is always a highlight of her novels.

While In Love's Time, a WWI era novel, got off to a slow start and sounded a bit stilted, it seemed as if both the author and I became more engaged with the story and its characters as we went along. The plot was good, fairly original, and developed a level of tension that kept me reading. The angst created by the injustices done to Clare Danner and her daughter Daisy, and the situation that kept Clare and Captain Sir Marcus Weatherford apart is intense. The theme of surrendering oneself fully into God's care rather than leaning on one's own understanding is well developed. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

This was a fascinating story. Marcus is working for MI6 during the war but his love, Clare, doesn't know that. Things get all complicated when Clare witnesses him talking with another woman before he leaves for a "trip."

Clare is a woman who will do anything to protect those she loves. I admired that in her even when it caused her to make a ridiculous decision. I was screaming, "No, Clare!" It was hard to see even knowing that somehow things were bound to work out.

Breslin does a great job at weaving in moments of history without making you feel like you are reading a history book. I didn't know there was a hospital completely run and staffed by women in WW1. I also enjoyed seeing Grace and Jack (characters from another Breslin book) return and play a prominent role.

This book is very well written and I would highly recommend it. Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I loved this story of love, faith and hope. I loved that this story takes place during WWl. I loved Marcus and Clare and Daisy. I enjoyed that this brought back characters from a previous book. I love that many of these characters learn a lesson from each other. I could not put this book down and it made me laugh and cry. I loved the romance. I received a copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I love, love, love this book! What a captivating story from Katie Breslin. She knows how to write the best Christian Fiction.

In the middle of WW1 Captain Marcus Weatherford arrives in Russia on a top secret mission with Russian ballerina posing as his wife. His mind wasn't really on the mission at hand. He was wondering how he was going to get Clara back. On the mission Marcus ended up in a military hospital with no memory. Clare Danner is a single mother who would do anything to keep here daughter's grandparents from taken her away from Clara. How can she get Marcus to help her when he doesn't remember her or anything else.

What a wonderful story. The author knows how to pull you in from the very beginning. It was hard for me to put down. You will be reading and could not help but wonder what is going to happen next with the characters. I love all the characters but really registered with Clara. She was on a very strong woman whom knew what she wanted especially when it came to her daughter. You have to cheer for Marcus and Clara.

I recommend this book through Amazon, Goodreads, Bookbud, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble and my blog.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars

In Love's Time by Kate Breslin is my favorite to date! I’m giving this 5 brilliant stars! Yes, it’s that good. KB never fails to deliver an exciting, brilliant narrative and her books just get better and better. I could not put this down! And I think I was holding my breath the whole time. It was so good and I love the way she writes. This was heartfelt, suspenseful, aggravating and ultimately satisfying.
The history and romance blended perfectly together and I didn’t want it to end. Believe the hype! You don’t want to miss this one.
Thanks Bethany House via NetGalley.
I can’t wait to read the next one!

Although this book can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading Kate Breslin's previous WWI books to fully appreciate this story. Marcus and Clare have been secondary characters throughout Breslin's books and I loved seeing their story finally get a chance to play out. We start the book already a year into their relationship. Marcus has been a spy with the British Intelligence Office for many years and so he has had to keep parts of his life secret from Clare. Clare is a single mother who works as an orderly at the hospital. She is expecting a proposal from Marcus at any time. However, secrets have a way of wrecking things and causing major miscommunication. While on an assignment, Marcus is wounded and suffers from amnesia. He comes back with no recollection of Clare and with a fiance. As Clare is tasked with helping Marcus discover his lost memories before time runs out on a sensitive mission, she and Marcus once again start to fall in love. However, he has a fiance and she must find a way to keep her daughter. Both Marcus and Clare must learn to trust in the Lord for his timing and to trust one another. I highly recommend this book filled with intrigue, spies, romance, secret passageways, and second chances at love.
