"In Love's Time" By very talented author Kate Breslin, was a book I couldn't put down. It is filled with the beautiful theme throughout that "God has His perfect time for everything (for every season under Heaven) for each of our lives. Author Kate Breslin takes the reader back to World War 1, and I felt that I was truly there. It was a story that made me lose a ton of sleep, but it was so well worth it! An instant five star read!!!

Next in the series. It's not necessary to read the first one, but it's a great story you would wish to read. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, at least that's what's true for Clare, and is one of God's lessons. She's an unwed mother who had her baby taken away. Marcus got her baby back. Now she's closer to a life with Marcus but his secret spy work for MI6 takes him away again, in a way that leaves her in pieces. Tense, twisted, heart wrenching love story with an interesting conclusion. Follows some of the history during WW1 that's quite intriguing. Good Christian values. Characters to get attached to.

There’s time for everything…
For love, for relationships, for courage, for so much more….
Exceptional story! A must read!
“Retrieving the photograph from his desk drawer, Marcus sighed deeply as he gazed at her lovely image. What had he once told his young lieutenant friend, Mabry? Duty and love do not mix.”

It's no secret that I love Kate Breslin's books. It was her books that brought me back to the world of reading.
In Love's Time is a WWI era novel and is the final book in her series. Each book can easily be read as a stand alone novel, but there are mentions of previous characters and Marcus Weatherford shows up frequently. They are all wonderful stories and you won't want to miss them!
I have loved seeing Marcus in the previous books and was so delighted that he was getting his own story. His story is not at all what I was expecting, but I truly loved how it all turned out.
Captain Marcus Weatherford works undercover and is once again being sent on a dangerous mission. Things become complicated before his mission even starts, but Marcus feels duty bound and will do his part for his country, even if his personal life suffers. He is a strong and capable man, but his injury leaves him with many unresolved issues and instead of being the one people can count on, he is having to lean heavily on others.
Clare Danner has not had an easy life, but she has hope for a better future with Marcus, that is, until she finds out he is engaged to another. She is hurt by Marcus, but she needs his help to keep custody of her daughter. Marcus returns to his country, but an injury prevents him from helping Clare. When Clare feels like she can't count on Marcus, will she seek her own way to solve her problems or will she rely on God?
It is a race against time to help Marcus heal and find a way for Clare to keep her daughter.
In Love's Time is a beautiful romance filled with mystery, misunderstanding, intrigue, espionage, forgiveness, and true love.
If you have read Not by Sight, you will be delighted to see more of Jack and Grace.
Wow! Kate Breslin has done it again. I stayed up way too late because I could not put this down. So excited to get Captain Marcus Weatherford’s story! I’ve long been waiting for him to get a happily ever after ending and boy does this deliver. But, it’s a down to the last minute struggle to get there. Though Marcus’ story is briefly touched on in previous books, this book can definitely be read as a standalone.
In 1918 England, the world is at war. Working for the British Admiralty, Marcus undergoes the most dangerous missions. He’s been in love with Clare Danner for over a year and though he’d love nothing more than to commit to her and her sweet two year old daughter, the risks he takes prevent him from asking her to marry him.
Marcus’ next mission requires him to travel to Russia with a former Russian ballerina posing as his fiancée. Natalya is one of the few the British government trusts to identify the Romanov Tsarina and her son who supposedly escaped assassination. Unfortunately, Marcus can’t tell anyone the engagement is fake, not even Clare. Clare witnesses him giving Natalya an engagement ring in the park, and is completely devastated. When the operation in Russia goes south, Marcus returns to England barely escaping death, but with amnesia. He wakes up to a fiancée and friends he can’t remember, including Clare
Clare’s finally got a good position as a supervising hospital orderly when she’s asked to care for Marcus at his family’s estate with the hope she can jog his memory. She’s fighting to keep Daisy from her grandparents and needs Marcus to remember so he can testify on her behalf. It’s also apparent Natalya is taking the fake engagement too far. Will Marcus remember before it’s too late?
Loved both Marcus & Clare! Their second chance romance was achingly heart wrenching. Normally, I hate miscommunication, but this was so well done. Marcus tries so hard to remember and can’t understand why he’s drawn to Clare. But, his fiancée Natalya has made him dependent on her. He’s slowly remembering, but it’s frustratingly slow.
Meanwhile, Clare still loves Marcus desperately and can’t understand why he betrayed her with Natalya. It doesn’t help that Natalya flaunts her engagement in Clare’s face. She’s in an untenable situation as she needs Marcus to remember but can’t afford to push him too hard. The admiralty also desperately needs him to remember the intelligence he gathered before he was shot.
Both Clare & Marcus have deep issues with trust & faith. It all comes down to the wire when they must let go of their own wills & learn to trust in God. There are so many twists and turns, and just when I thought things were working out another wrench was thrown into the story. While I pegged the villain early on, it was still satisfying to see everything play out. The side characters are also enjoyable. I loved the side romance between Marcus’ sister Fannie & a wounded soldier. It’s a heartfelt beautiful historical romance, with a touch of suspense you’ll definitely want to put on your TBR list! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author and publisher. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.
I adore Kate Breslin's books. Ok, ok. To be fair, I had only read one other one before this, but it was excellent! And now I need to go back and read the rest of the series. Why do I start so many series either in the middle or at the end???
I love suspense, espionage, war books, and all that goes with them. This book was full of it all. And heart-stopping suspense at the end. I HAD to know how it ended up, and with only 20 or so pages to go (it's hard to tell on a kindle!), I will admit that I had my doubts. But it wasn't an unbelievable ending. I mean, it ended beautifully, but not in a way that wasn't believable, you know?
I do recommend that you read the previous books in the series first. There was a lot of backstory that was explained, but I think it would have made more sense had I started at the beginning. But that isn't the author's fault; that's all me.
So. Go start with Not By Sight and work (I say work, but it will be a pleasure) your way through. You won't be disappointed.

Set during World War I in England. My first read by Kate Breslin and I loved it! I highly recommend reading at least “Not by Sight” before reading this book. There is a lot more details for backstory information, that are missing in this one. That being said I did not read that first ( although I plan to read it😊) and the story is still great and works as a standalone. There is a miscommunication trope in this story. Now I normally do not like miscommunication unless resolved quickly but trust me miscommunication haters this one is different and I think you will like it 😉 I’m trying hard not to spoil too much here 😂 Marcus and Clare are great characters. Their relationship is just beautiful. I also loved Marcus’s family especially Fannie. There is espionage and a double agent to add to the mix. Really enjoyed this story! Wonderful characters! Very clean read and definitely recommend!

REAL LOVE CONQUERS ALL!
At the height of WWI, one couple’s love will be tested against all odds. They will have to overcome espionage, a Russian Ballerina with covert intelligence information who is also trying to run a scam betrothal, government interference, family secrets, and a head injury resulting in amnesia. These are only some of the problems that author Kate Breslin has thought up for her two main characters! And these characters, are delightful! Readers will find themselves wanting the two of them to find their way back to each other-in spite of all of the odds. The supporting characters are perfect as well and are made up of family and friends. Breslin has planted some serious villains and readers will want them to get their due! This is a thoroughly enjoyable book and will keep your attention from start to finish.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Bethany Bookhouse and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
"I have learned one cannot wait for the perfect moment to fulfill a dream. One must act despite all and embrace what the heart holds dear."
I have always enjoyed Kate Breslin's books and the intense espionage and intrigue in them. Her newest absolutely fulfilled my expectation and more. Though this book connects quite a few characters from her previous books (in particular, "Not by Sight"), it can be read as a stand-alone. Brimming with intrigue, tender romance, heartache, and faith, the book will captivate and enthrall any reader who loves historical romance.
Finally getting to see Captain Marcus Weatherford up close and personal was a pleasure. He's been a stalwart, faithful secondary character in the author's WWI books and I loved his character thoroughly, even if I didn't agree with some of his decisions. Clare was a lovable heroine, rising above her humiliation and thriving as a single mother and an orderly in a hospital. Learning about a military hospital run by an all-women staff during the war was quite fascinating. Marcus' amnesia allowed for a fresh restart to his relationship with Clare and gave the reader a glimpse into their fun, witty, tender, all-encompassing bond.
It was interesting to see the events unfold through Natalya, Jack, and Fannie's eyes as well. And Fannie's delightful romance with Peter was an added bonus.
I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All opinions are my own.
BOOK REVIEW - IN LOVE'S TIME - 4/5 STARS
THE STORY
I've enjoyed all Kate Breslin's stories, they're connected through their characters yet are each their own stand alone novel. This story split me right down the middle. On the one hand, I loved the drama, the secrets and lost memories that made up this romance. But on the other, it was almost agonizing to have to watch the MCs, which I've become fully invested in, and all the pain they endure. I won't give much away, as I'd much prefer you to to fully enjoy this story, but you will not be able to put it down until the very end!
THE ROMANCE
Second chance romances are one of absolutely favourite romance tropes! Any story that has a redemptive theme to it I'm 100% down for! Slow burn is probably the biggest understatement for this romance, so strap in for the long haul, but it's totally worth the wait for such a perfect ending!
THE TRUTHS
Marcus and Clare let fear and distrust dictate their decisions, resulting in near disastrous results. Its not until they begin to trust in God that they're able to see that He was alqays working in their lives. Too often we let the bad experiences affect our trust in God, forgetting all the good God has already done for us. Fear and present circumstances tells not to trust in what we can't see but we need to believe in what we know to be true, that God loves us unconditionally and cares for us, and let that knowledge guide our decisions and comfort us in our troubles.
We have all faced one obstacle or another in our lives, but those hard things prepare us for greater challenges.
The author has given us another wonderful WWI story with incredible detail and plenty of intrigue. Captain Sir Marcus Weatherford is in the Royal Navy and loaned to the Intelligence Service. His lady love, a widow with a young daughter, has his heart, but he has decided that duty and love do not mix.
Amnesia puts one in a place of vulnerability, leaving the other to try and pick up the pieces. Secret passageways, spies and more will keep you attempting to figure out if this can possibly end happily for anyone. Are any of them ready for the challenge?
This early copy was received through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
This story was quite different than I expected. I requested it because of the description which indicated that Marcus was sent on a mission to Russia to find surviving members of the Romanov family. Though I knew from history there would be nobody to find, it sounded like a fascinating premise. Unfortunately, the actual mission was such a tiny portion of the story that the description almost felt misleading.
As for the characters, it took me a long time to believe Clare loved Marcus. She seemed determined to believe the worst about him, it was repeatedly stated that she was only helping him because of the assistance she hoped he could give her, and when she saw the severity of his wounds, rather than relief or gratitude that he had survived, she expressed only annoyance that Jack had kept things a secret. At least at the end I did believe her love.
As for Marcus, due to his circumstances for most of the story, I didn't feel I got to know him very well. Despite this, the author was able to demonstrate clear character growth on his part here.
More than Clare and Marcus though, I enjoyed seeing the relationship build between Fannie and Peter.
Thank you LibraryThing and NetGalley for the early read.
In Love's Time was another fantastic read by one of my favorite authors. This WWI story features Marcus who was a British spy, and put on assignment with a beautiful ballerina from Russia. She posed as his fian'cee. However, his true love, Clare knows nothing of this and was heartbroken that Marcus was engaged to the ballerina. This book truly had me turning the pages to find out who the bad guy was and how it would end. Trust me, the ending was a very satisfying and happy one. I really enjoyed it and recommend to any WWI historical romance fans.
*I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and this is my honest opinion..
What I Liked:
- There were so many great characters in this book. Daisy, Fannie, Peter, Grace and Jack (of course)... I even actually liked Marcus' mother and grandfather. Everybody was awesome.
- The treasure box. That was so. stinking. sweet!
- Daisy calling to Marcus and the part with the shoes.
I needed more Daisy. She's precious and I loved every appearance but I would have liked to see her more. Still, she's a baby, so she doesn't really add much other than the cuteness factor. I also would LOVE to see Fannie get a book. I loved her and think she deserves to have her story explored.
I've started feeling like many books rush things at the end and this one felt that way. I would have liked to have the central conflict resolved a bit earlier and then maybe more of a hunt for the solution to some of the other issues. *SPOILER* If Marcus had remembered sooner, then maybe the rest of the book could have been mole hunting, or trying to do the mission again but running into issues. *END SPOILER* I was pleased with the resolution, I just think it was rushed. I also was suspicious of a certain person from VERY early on but couldn't quite put my finger on the "how". I was proved correct and was surprised by the way it was all laid out.
This was a very sweet story and I'm so glad I finally got to read Marcus and Clare's story!
In Love's Time by Kate Breslin is a sweeping saga of a love lost, intrigue, and espionage that you will find hard to put down.
Clare Danner has been dating Marcus Weatherford for so long her two-year-old daughter calls him 'Da. She believed they had something special, but she is devastated when she discovers his engagement to another woman. She couldn't believe she had been fooled by yet another man.
And this is where the book started to confuse me. Clare's backstory was so intriguing I wondered why we weren't getting more of it. Not only did she have a child out of wedlock, but her daughter was violently removed from her by the child's grandparents and put in a workhouse when it was just a baby. And Marcus saved the child. So, that's a lot and so interesting I wanted to know more. Unfortunately, I found out (too late) that this information is in another book called Not by Sight, published in 2015. If you didn't read that book, you would feel slightly lost reading this one. However, In Love's Time can be read as a standalone. You get enough backstory, but the backstory is so intriguing you want more. Especially since it comes heavily into play in this book. Hopefully, Not by Sight is still in print, as I want to read it now!
Once you get past the "past," this book takes off and keeps you riveted until the last page. I highly recommend it!
I received a copy of this book courtesy of Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I truly love good Historical Fiction and this one is even a Christian one! Win-Win! Kate Breslin has a winner here, with serious intrigue and romance during World War I. Spying is a dangerous game and many times loved one suffer due to that game. Captain Marcus Weatherford's secret mission threatens to destroy his upcoming life with Clare Danner. They both need each other but the dangers abound, and it seems all is lost.
Breslin takes her readers on a great adventure, one that had me on pins and needles at times. My patrons will love this one at our library.
5 stars
This was one wild ride of WWI era espionage, war wounds, and a very interesting love story.
I loved revisiting characters from Breslin's other books and finally getting Clare and Marcus's story but boy did they go through the wringer!
I absolutely love Clare and her unwaivering love for her daughter and also for caring for her patients. I love Marcus's strong sense of duty for his country, but wish it hadn't hurt Clare.
I thought the balance of love and suspense in this book was a little off. I would have liked a little more romance but Breslin is definitely the best for a well written WWI historical fiction book.
I think my favorite part was the friendship that formed between Marcus's sister, Fannie, and Clare. I was so glad when they really truly got to know each other.
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This is my first Kate Breslin book I have read and I immediately fell in love with this story and the author's style. In Love's Time is well paced and full of intrigue. The lead characters and the supporting characters are equally compelling- multi-faceted, layered personalities. I adored both Marcus and Clare. The chemistry between the leads, as well as the supporting characters, overflowed from the pages. Honestly, this read like a Kate Quinn for Christian historical fiction readers (intrigue, romance, war-time setting, but In Love's Time leans into the theme of faith and trusting God through trials)! An excellent read! This definitely won't be my last Kate Breslin book. Eager to read more of her work!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bethany House Publishers for the ARC.
Kate Breslin does it again! She brings the reader another absolutely enjoyable and totally satisfying British WWI historical fiction tale complete with history, dangerous missions, and romance. In Love's Time is a compelling story that had me reading into the wee hours of the morning to finish. Authentic characters come alive on the page, the setting is described so beautifully that the reader can just picture being there, and the journey of healing and insights keeps you turning pages. Don't forget to read the author's note at the end for insights into real history woven into this story.
I highly recommend In Love's Time, and all of Author Kate Breslin's wonderful historical fiction stories! Thank you to the author, publisher and net galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
A fascinating WWI British spy novel!
Captain Marcus Weatherford always puts duty to king and country first, but is frustrated how little he gets to see the woman he loves. Clare, an orderly nurse, is supportive of Marcus and has high hopes he will propose soon and start a family with her and her young daughter.
When Marcus is assigned on a secret mission to Russia, nothing goes as it should and both of their lives are upended. Marcus returns from the mission with amnesia...and a fiance.
Lies, secrets, heartache, betrayal. Everyone is trying to find the truth, including Marcus who cannot figure out why he is so drawn to the nurse that is helping him to recover at his family's estate.
The events are somewhat predictable but that did not keep me from being glued to the book to find out what happens and how everything is resolved. Love the intrigue and suspense and watching Marcus and Clare fall in love for a second time? So sigh-worthy.
This was my first book by Kate Breslin but will definitely not be my last!
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
