My Big Fake Wedding was a fun story, one with humor, great banter, and romance. Bea Corbin was in a relationship when she entered a lottery to win her perfect wedding. It is months later and they are no longer together, but when she gets the call that she has won the wedding, she panics and accepts the prize putting a $2000.00 payment on her card for the $50,000 wedding. Now, she just has to find someone to marry her in a relatively short time. When she announces her wedding date to her BFF, Oliver, he doesn't think it is a good idea, but supports her in her quest. She is hoping to get Andrew's attention, a co-worker that she is attracted to, and when they have a drunken kiss, they start dating and get to know each other. Andrew agrees to marry Bea and things look like they are going to work out, or are they?

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this story, but also a lot that I had issues with. First was that Bea doesn't have a lot of self-confidence in her private life. She is a smart, attractive woman, but becomes who she thinks Andrew wants in order to get him interested in her. She is so centered on finding a fiancé for this wedding that she becomes completely self-centered and not a very good friend. What I enjoyed were the funny moments when she lets herself go and be herself. Andrew was an interesting character. There were times I liked him and saw him really making an effort in their relationship, but I also felt that he was only going forward half-heartedly. I enjoyed the banter between herself and her friends, and I also liked her personal growth. There is some predictability, and I had figured out how it would end, but I thought it was an okay read. Stephanie Cannon narrated the audiobook and did a nice job with the story. I did find her male voices a bit hard to accept, but overall, it was an enjoyable listen.

This book had me laughing, tearing up, and fully engulfed in this wild dream of hers. I love a flawed protagonist so real that you find yourself shaking you head and rolling your eyes at their antics like they're your best friend but supporting them every step of the way. Or in some (i.e. most cases) seeing yourself making the same choices and knowing you shouldn't but you do anyway. Jessica Hatch has a way of writing characters that feels so true to people and relationships. The beautiful mess that is life.

Cute albeit slightly predictable romcom. Characters were pretty cliche but overall a very enjoyable romance.

Originally when I set out to read this book, I read the synopsis and thought this book would definitely be something I would be into. However, as I started actually reading this book, it became clear that it wasn’t quite my cup of tea.

I did find the plot to be intriguing, and it kept me reading. I wanted to see how this plan was going to work out for Bea, so that kept me trucking through.

Now, I will say I did not like Bea at all. I found her character super annoying, and to be honest at some points a bit unbearable. That being said, I really enjoyed seeing how she evolved and grew by the end of the book.

Overall, this was just an okay book for me, but I can see how it would be a great book for others. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a romcom, and wants an easy read.

Jessica Hatch's My Big Fake Wedding is a comedy of disasters. The story starts with Bea accepting a wedding date at a wedding venue that she signed up for when she was still seeing her ex. Now out of this relationship, her dream wedding lands in her lap and she tries to find someone to marry by the set date with tons of messes along the way. The story is entertaining but it's so ridiculous that it's a bit hard to love. The end also feels rushed even though it is a predictable ending. The narrator does an excellent job injecting the humor that this story requires though.

Bea has just won the wedding of her dreams. The problem? She has no groom.

This is the story of how, in the course of less than a year, Bea goes about trying to find the perfect groom. She tries conventional and unconventional methods to accomplish this, all resulting in lots of humor and head-shaking on the listener's part! And, while one might suspect they know the answer along the way, don't be too sure you've got it figured out.

This book was a fun listen, made enjoyable by the humor infused in the plot. And, there are a couple of villains along the way, just to make it interesting. I highly recommend it!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own

A light hearted easy listen. Good choice for romance readers.

The narrator was a little difficult to listen to; the male voices made it hard to stay immersed.

I had high hopes for this but unfortunately it was just not for me, I couldn’t get into it and I didn’t like the narrator Either, maybe if I read the book myself I’d enjoy it more

This is the perfect romance palette cleanser between gritty books. Or just for romance lovers!

It’s a comedy of errors that twists the usual fake dating or marriage of convenience tropes. The MC feels realistic and believable and makes a million mistakes (understandable).

You’ll read it in one sitting and even if you see the ending coming, it doesn’t make it any less sweet.

While a comparison title of reigning queen Emily Henry is ambitious, I see it.

Congrats on publication!

Thank you Bookouture for the NetGalley ARC.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an arc of My Big Fake Wedding by Jessica Hatch.

I really liked the idea of this book; having to find a fake boyfriend to marry after winning a competition. But the main character was just so unlikeable! Any time someone else had a problem she would ignore it and talk about herself or find some way to relate it to her own problems. For example, when her friend is worried her girlfriend might never propose, our main girl basically says ‘look at where I was a year ago; my relationship just ended and now I’m getting married! so you still have hope,’ as if that was supposed to make her friend feel better. She is so disrespectful and rude to her best friend’s girlfriend for absolutely no reason, just because she’s annoyed in the moment.
Also, I still have no clue what her job is. A lot of the book is spent at work and every day they’re planning this big event but I don’t know why or what for.
It was obvious what the plot twist was going to be right from the start, too.
I rated this 3⭐️ because I liked the basic plot but it definitely wasn’t a new favourite of mine. I hate writing negative reviews but, especially because this is an arc, I wanted to give my honest thoughts and opinions.

3.5 stars

Jessica Hatch was a new to me author last month! I had an audiobook copy of My Big Fake Wedding via netgalley so decided to give it a go.

This is like a backwards spin on the fake fiancé trope. Bea put her name down to win a wedding, not thinking she’d find herself single again and without a fiancé when it turns out she wins the competition. What follows is Bea trying to find her new fiancé.

I was intrigued with the twist on the trope however Bea wasn’t a very nice character. She’s quite rude to her friends and self-centred so she kind of put me off a bit. The story didn’t turn out the way I thought it would though so I would say for me that redeemed it a little.

My Big Fake Wedding is a delightful premier from author Jessica Hatch. Beatrice “Bea” Corbin is the marketing director at a startup fitness firm, Get Up and Move. The rollout for their special launch party as well as major fundraising events are her babies.

Recently dumped by her cheating ex-boyfriend of 7 years, Bea is startled senseless when she receives a call that she has won her dream wedding at a most sought after park venue. Bea had all but forgotten entering the contest back when things seemed headed in the right direction with the cheating Raymond. In her startled state, Bea agrees to the $2000 fee for the wedding with all other expenses covered. Now all she needs is a groom.

In this comedy of errors, Bea learns that planning a wedding is so much easier than finding the perfect person to be your forever groom. In her quest Bea alienates her best friend Oliver, uses her best friend Lucy, and begins a plan with colleague Andrew.

As the story unfolds, Bea discovers much about herself and the importance of the special people in her life. This was a lovely romcom. I enjoyed the story and do recommend it!

Bea Corbin wins a wedding in a competition, but she has recently been dumped by her boyfriend, so she has to find a new boyfriend who she can marry. Her best friend Oliver is always by her side, but then she meets Andrew, who she has a relationship with. And her ex also comes back into the picture. But who will she end up with?

I enjoyed this book, and the narrator had a great voice. It was easy to listen to, and I liked most of the characters. Oliver was my favourite character.

If you are looking for a fun, easy summer read, then this is the perfect book for you to escape from your daily life with.

Many thanks to the author, narrator, publisher and NetGalley for this book.

With a fun and easy-to-follow plot, Jessica Hatch’s “My Big Fake Wedding” made it to my shelf of “feel good” books to read. The main character, Bea Corbin, is always focused on being organised and structured, but her world turns upside-down when she wins a wedding party at a renowned, hard-to-get-location. The only problem is that Bea broke up with her boyfriend and now she has just a little under a year to find a future husband. Will she succeed?

If you choose to listen to the audiobook, Stephanie Cannon’s voicing of the characters will offer the readers a very pleasant experience and help them get in that feel good state from the very first minutes of listening to the audiobook.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio, and the editorial team for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC in audiobook format and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

This book was a good quick palette cleanser. I enjoyed the plot, even though the ending was completely predictable. Lots of reviews are complaining that the main character is self centered and unlikeable. I do not see that at all. There are obviously times where she is only focused on herself and misses things her friends need. But isn't everyone? I'm confused this makes her one of the most realistic main characters. The premise is fun and I do almost wish she hadn't ended up with who she did (but I did see it coming from the start)
This book seems to have received unnecessary hate

Bea has won a heavily discounted wedding at a deluxe venue, the only problem is she has no groom to marry or prospects on the horizon. Her pervious boyfriend of seven years had cheated and then left her after she forgave him. Bea is not a fan of waste or wasted opportunities so she decides to dive in and see if she can find a man to be her husband in 9 months. Trying to get her parents on board she pretends to be engaged to her best friend, but they see through this plan. After several missed opportunities she begins dating a coworker and explains to him her situation before it gets too serious. He thinks about it and agrees to dive in for a fast and serious relationship. It does not go how she had planned. I usually am a fan of this trope, but the characters were messy right from the start. Bea did not know herself or believe in herself and that made it so hard to root for her. Her plan was unrealistic from the start and her relationship trauma was clear from the first paragraph that this was never a good plan. I wanted her to really get some therapy, not dive into a marriage. While this was not my favorite story, I did appreciate the LGBT representation in the book. I wanted to like this book, I just could not.

I really wished I enjoyed this book, but alas, it wasn't for me.
The description ticked all of my boxes, but the execution left a lot to be desired.

The MC felt selfish and self-centered, and don't get me wrong, I'm all for the "being blind to one's best friend undying love" trope, but this felt a little to much, and Oliver a little too used, to my liking.

My Big Fake Wedding by Jessica Hatch. Release date: Aug. 18/22.

If you want a sweet, light read, with a few twists and turns then this book is for you. The main character Bea wants to find love and makes many questionable decisions to get there. The characters make you want to root for them. Somewhat predictable but enjoyable all the same 👏🏻.
