A couple of teenagers go camping in the woods around Salvation Creek even though there's so many stories about people who have gone missing. Well on this camping trip, one girl goes missing. Now the whole group is getting interviewed by the police.

I loved the synopsis. I was expecting something similar to "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder". Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. All the characters were unlikable and I stopped reading a little less than half way through, because I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style.

Enter 5 so-called friends who decide to go on a last minute camping trip. The aspiring influencer and their ambitious boyfriend, the best friend and their conspiracy theorist brother, and the secret ex-girlfriend. What spells disaster more than that? When the influencer Maylee winds up missing, the remaining four are interviewed by the police and the stores start to unfold. In the police's words, tell me what really happened!
This book kept me guessing until the very end. It was a fun, quick read, but unfortunately not one that will be very memorable.

This book certainly did not disappoint! I loved the somewhat supernatural feel of this book and how it continuously shifted between narratives, so you could perceive how each teen felt emotionally, and what their personalities were like. This book kept my attention all throughout and had me guessing until the very end. A very interesting read indeed, I highly recommend if you enjoyed One of Us is Lying.

I read this book thanks to Netgalley! Five kids go for a camping trip but only four come back out. The police are questioning all four to determine what exactly happened to Maylee Hayes. I love the writing style in this book! First person pov for the four teens all from the perspective of being questioned and interrogated by the police. This was also a super fast read which i enjoyed. I loved the changing pov and trying to figure out exactly what happened. I think there were just enough clues to solve the case but not give the ending away.

This book was really good. I was not sure about the writing at first but it really drew me in pretty fast. I thought the way this book was done was unique.

Thank you to Chelsea, Sourcebooks, and Netgalley for an advance copy of Tell Me What Really Happened.

Maylee wanted to take a camping trip to get away from everything. Just her, her boyfriend, three of her friends, and the wilderness. Some booze, a fire, good times. Except that nothing ever goes to plan, and after some alcohol-fueled arguing Maylee takes off in the woods and does not return to camp.

The four remaining members of the camping party are now suspects - suspects with very different versions of the evening’s events.

Four interviews are conducted over the course of several hours in the wake of Maylee’s disappearance as police work to piece together the truth and get to the bottom of what really happened.

The format of this book is *chef’s kiss* I love unconventional formatting and an entire book told through police interrogation was a new one for me. It also speaks volumes to Chelsea’s ability to tell a story when that is the only method being used. It’s also a fun way to read a book when you’re busy or multitasking. The interview format is easy to digest and easy to get through chapters while not feeling like you’ve rushed or missed key moments.

The twist was solid, I did not see it coming. There was a good amount of YA fun and angst. I am loving the trend of thrillers revolving around camping, the sense of isolation adds so much atmosphere.

You would think that this format would not give you the ability to connect with characters, but that was not the case for this book. I still felt as though I got to know all the parties. On top of that, you also get a little sneak peek into their psyche as they describe the events and their peers.

Tell Me What Happened is a story of teenagers on the woods in the Pacific Northwest, and one goes missing and is found dead. The story is told via police interviews, which I really liked. It was unique and it was interesting seeing the evolution of the characters emotions towards each other and the awful situation they find themselves in.

So why the 2 star review? There was WAY too much talk of Big Foot. I get the fascination, but it was just too much. This book could have easily been a 4 star read, but the one character bringing up Big Foot just about every time they spoke had me rolling my eyes.

As long as having a character obsessed with Big Foot isn't a running theme in Chelsea Sedoti's books, I'll read another from her. I can tell she is very talented, and the overall story was good... but had I turned reading the book into a drinking game where I took a drink every time Big Foot was mentioned... well, I wouldn't be writing this review, because I would have died from alcohol poisoning.

This was a solid YA murder mystery novel. It confirmed that I never want to go camping but it had great pacing and interesting characters. I really enjoyed how the entire novel was written as 4 teens being interviewed by the police. It had a lot of great twists and turns and I definitely recommend this for lovers of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder or Karen Mc Manus fans!

I raced through this book! The format was unusual and so compelling. We follow 4 teens as they are being interviewed by the police about the disappearance (or death?) of their friend. What exactly happened in the woods? Who is telling the truth? There's a hint of the paranormal in the shape of a possible Bigfoot sighting that will have readers wondering what really happened up until the very end!

I received this and as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for giving me access.

The first person police interviews were an interesting writing style choice. If you aren't a fan of reading this book in print, I would encourage you to listen to the audiobook as I found it easier to process and more enjoyable.

As we listen to the individual statements, we find that everyone had their secrets, including the missing person in question. There were some farfetched moments and parts that could have been expanded on more. The ending was a little anticlimactic as I was hoping for more (I don't want to spoil it).

Overall, I enjoyed Tell Me What Really Happened and hope to read more books in this first person interview style.

I loved how this story was told through police interviews. It was a really interesting concept. The main plot could have gotten lost between so many different points of view and subplots, but the author did a great job weaving everything together, while keeping the main mystery a mystery.
I couldn’t put this book down!

Very interesting whodunit type story about 5 teens who go camping and only 4 come back. Because it is written as first person police interviews, you hear the story from everyone's different point of view. I thought it was a suspenseful read that brought in a lot of different topics interesting to teens today. It kept me guessing and I enjoyed it.

5 teens go on a camping trip and one ends up missing.
Loved the interesting 1st person interview style of the book, makes it go much faster but also kind of makes it hard to keep up with the timeline through the end.
3.5 stars

Tell Me What Really Happened is a multi-perspective ya mystery about 5 friends who go camping and one turns up missing. The story unfolds in the format of police interviews from the perspective of the 4 remaining friends. The story was predictable, but the perspectives of the characters were unique and the police interviews added to the mystery as their stories didn't exactly line up. However, the characters fell flat for me and I was not invested in figuring out the mystery. The ending was was disappointing, bigfoot was too much a part of the story and a lot of pieces just didn't come together. The idea of the book sounds great but overall I did not enjoy this as much as I thought I would.

Thank you to NetGalley for a ARC of Tell Me What Really Happened.

This was so fun!! I don't read alot of YA these days but the mystery books like this one, I will make exceptions for. The YA mysteries tend to be fast paced with great characters and dialogue and not too heavy and this book was all of that and more! I loved the characters. I felt they they were very relatable and I was able to easily relate to their stories. I loved the concept of having a different character walk us through their interpretation of the events that happened by answering the police questions as the beginning of the chapters. I had a great time reading this and highly recommend it. I will definitely be looking for more by this author!

I wanted to love this book because I’m in my YA mystery/thriller era but I just finished it and I’m so disappointed. I LOVE the way it’s told (interview reports) but the whole plot was so obvious it was painful. Like yes it was compelling but the obviousness ruined it for me. I don’t even know how to review this book without spoiling it. But if you’ve ever been drunk, and I mean really drunk, you know this doe not make any sense. Also it featured one of the worst trope in existence.

(spoiler: I really don’t get it when people don’t check if someone is actually dead before living their body behind, like why would you do that???)

*Potential spoiler* This book is told with a unique format, which I appreciated. However, because it is told in a mostly one-sided interrogation/interview style, some of it comes off as unrealistic. In order to get all the details across, more is stated than would have been realistic to verbally share in an interview. Most of the characters are unlikeable to some degree, some more than others, and there was really too much emphasis on Big Foot. Although the reasoning behind this is evident and obvious eventually, it was a lot and it felt like too much for someone who has zero interest in that particular myth. It was an interesting way of storytelling though and it did keep me guessing, so it is worth at least a solid 3 stars. Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and Netgalley!

Five teens go into the woods for a camping trip. The next morning, only four of them come back out. This story is told entirely through police interviews of the four teenagers.

I found the format really compelling and the short chapters kept me hooked and wanting to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. I would recommend this if you’re looking for a quick read to draw you in. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance reading copy.

#netgalleyar I’ve read a lot of Ya mystery/suspense/thrillers lately and this one did not disappoint. I really like how the story was told from various points of view, the author made it very easy to follow. I enjoyed the writing and the characters and will definitely purchase it for my HS library.

This novel did not work at all for me. On paper it should have been right in my wheelhouse but I struggled from nearly the beginning.

Sedoti used a different story telling device - teens related the mystery through a police interrogation. There was very little police questioning or interaction. It was mainly jumping around from one character response to another. I had the most trouble with the fact that nothing felt real or authentic. It would be highly unlikely that 5 teens would talk so conversationally to the police. The author needed to get the background and story out but this all felt forced.

I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read the Kindle ARC edition in exchange for an honest opinion.
