I love this book . I love this Color would be a great tool to use in the classroom to introduce colors and also to start inactive play with the students . The children could be paired into groups and act out the roles of the duck and chicken.creating their own art .

I received a free copy of this book. This is my unbiased and honest review.

What a cute story! This would be perfect for opinion writing in k-2. It features two sweet characters that are arguing about the best color. They first just push their opinion and then they begin to give reasons to support their distinct points of view. Eventually, they come to realize that both can be true. The writing is delivered strictly through speech bubbles, a la Mo Willems. Very relatable to kids ages 5-7. Loved it!

This is such a cute story! Duck and Cluck decide to paint the book page but can't agree on the color. Though unintentional they end up creating something beautiful together. This story was simple and silly. Loved the back and forth about which color is best and the alligator at the end was very funny. I imagine this book will get lots of giggles from kids.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC

Duck and Cluck are at an impasse. Which colour is “best.” Their energy to convince the other that their colour is more important morphs into a revelation. Listening. Pausing. Discovering the benefits of making time for other opinions. Young listeners will enjoy this work.

I Like This Color ~Duck and Cluck
5 Stars

I fell in love with this book's cute cover!
The artist's use of contrasting colors allows the characters to shine. The story is fun, cute and relatable (they act like siblings or BF's). Duck and Cluck are very expressive characters, and do a great job teaching children the valuable lesson of listening to others and making compromises. I Like This Color is a great book for any library, it's a picture book kiddo's are sure to enjoy.

Thank you, NetGalley and Source Books Kids, for the advance reading copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is super cute. The illustrations are fun, capturing the many emotions of Duck and Cluck over the course of the story, and the colors are bright and pleasing. The story itself is funny, relatable, and very cute. It also has a good point about listening to others and compromising.

I can't wait to read it with my kiddo - I think he will really enjoy it. (For reference, he's 8, although I think much younger kids and older kids would enjoy it as well.)

I would especially recommend this to all kids, but especially any kids with siblings or particularly bossy / argumentative friends.

Duck and Cluck are friends. Most of the time. They usually agree. But sometimes they do not. In this book, Duck and Cluck are both in agreement that the boring white pages need some color. That is when the problems begin. Duck wants the pages to be pink but Cluck disagrees and wants the pages to be orange. Duck thinks Cluck's opinion is wrong and Cluck think's Duck is wrong too.

Hilarity ensues but there is a valuable lesson in tolerance, conflict, friendship, and respecting the differences and opinions of others even when they are different than your own. There is an additional message of manners, respect and listening to others when they share ideas. There are so many great places to stop and have discussions and use this book for valuable life lessons.

This story was both entertaining and educational, which can be a tricky balance to maintain in a children’s book, and I will be suggesting it to teachers whenever possible. Incorporating social-emotional skills and topics such as this into children's picture books is a tried and true way to teach an important life skill in a way that is fun. This would be an amazing addition for classroom libraries, counselling offices and more.

I Like This Color is a sweet book about 2 friends that have a disagreement because they like different things, but in the end, discover they can have the best of both worlds. The onomatopoeia throughout makes the book silly and fun for young readers. The illustrations of the duck and chicken are very appealing as well. I would definitely recommend this book as a lesson on compromise and teamwork.

This is an adorable little book. I love the perspectives it shows and the lesson it teaches. This book teaches that you can have a difference in opinion and that sometimes our differences make things even more beautiful. The illustrations are cute as well. There are so many teaching opportunities scattered throughout this book. I will definitely be buying a hard copy for my classroom.

I was given an early book in exchange for an honest opinion.. Yes I believe this is a winner for early readers.Duck and chick agreed that the page was dull Aldo’s agreed it needed color although one wanted pink and the other orange . Each stopping to admire their own work. Pink splattered a few flecks onto orange then they flecked paint each way. They stepped back to discover that working together, they were able to complete a visually appealing work of art. The book was sparse on words but told a very special story of cooperation. They each had their own opinion, but by working together, they were able to present a wonderful piece of art. Would be a good story for adults to embrace! Yes, I will definitely be recommending for people to pick up for thei learning to read. It is just a fun book. Illustrated beautifully to help write the book itself.

Pink or orange? Should the boring white pages be pink for Duck? Or orange for Cluck? That’s the question answered in this delightful early reader by Liz Goulet Dubois. The two friends argue over the choice of color and decide to split the page in half. But when orange rolls over onto Duck’s pink side, a minor skirmish erupts. Parents and children alike will appreciate this “you’re on MY side” argument! All is settled when a friendly alligator reminds them that their beautiful combined color reminds him of a tropical sunset. However, the argument may not be completely settled.

While I Like THIS Color! Is an early reader, younger children would enjoy hearing it read aloud. It’s full of learning opportunities. For instance, what color are the flipflops? Should you push a flower in someone’s face? Why not? This is a laugh-out-loud story that belongs on your child’s bookshelf. It will be read over and over again! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, SOURCEBOOK Kids and Liz Goulet Dubois for this ARC.

“I love mixing colors together to make an even better color!” - My six year old

A cute story with a message of working together. The story ends with a very funny moment of how some beings don’t alway learn right away.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read, and review, this with my daughter!

I Like This Color by Liz Goulet Dubois is about a duck 🦆 and a chicken 🐓 who argue over which color is the best. And than they accidentally mix the colors together and they both decide they love the color they create together. Read the story to your child I think you will love

While this is a quick and funny story, it has a great message about how to treat others and accepting our friend's opinions and differences. Done in a light-hearted and silly way with a splash of color amongst a simply-drawn book. Definitely a fun addition for those early readers!
