I like that this cookbook made Middle Eastern cooking, which can be laborious and time consuming, more approachable to everyone. This is great for someone who wants to try new foods but isn't super comfortable in the kitchen or for someone who already loves Middle Eastern food but is busy and needs to consolidate their time.
Lots to like about this cookbook!
Pros:
*The beginning prep section really helps you be prepared for the recipes.
* The recipes are all quick 30 minute recipes.
* The Recipes are well written out and easy to follow.
Cons:
*As this could be the first middle Eastern cooking for some, pictures with the recipes would be super helpful.
There is so much information in this book. I did love that modern modifications were used to help with the amount of time some of the more traditional dishes would take. The lists are super helpful and I really enjoyed reading the history of ingredients. I would like to see more pictures for some of the dishes that I wasn't familiar with.
4 stars.
This was an absolutely delicious set of recipes! It was beautifully written and approachable, which I appreciate in cookbooks.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was around 3.5 stars for me. I like the concept of this book and there are some interesting recipes. I was hoping for more pictures of the finished recipes. There's information on how to find some of the ingredients, but the book also calls for ingredients instead of talking about how to make labneh which can be tricky to find.
Overall there's a variety of recipes that are nice to find.
We made some of the soups from this great book and they were delicious. We were surprised by how many of the ingredients we actually had and those we did not were easily bought in the local supermarket. Will continue to work out way through this book with interest. We also liked the little points of interesting info on the food products dotted through the book.
I used to travel for work before becoming disabled and I miss the tastes of the world. While there are a few international restaurants near me, the one Middle Eastern one closed well before the pandemic and nothing has opened up since. This book provides the recipes and guidance for us to cook our own now.
Best part is, this uses whole ingredients, not processed foods. THAT alone makes me a happy girl, but adding in the large selection of recipes? I’m a super happy girl! The recipes are easy to follow and will have you drooling just reading them. I can’t wait to make some of these dishes for the next wine night we host for our friends. YUM!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!
The recipes featured in this Cookbook all look delicious! I can not wait to try some of these for myself! I love how the author gave tips and even substitute ideas if you can't find an ingredient!
I loved how this book was structured into various categories. The author also provided tips and tricks for cooking the recipes as well as giving you a list of items to have in your pantry. I found several dishes I desire to make for my Lebanese father!
I'm always looking to expand my culinary experience. The recipes are easy to follow an quick to make. Highly recommend it!
Love this book. It has whet my appetite to expand my Middle Eastern cooking adventure. I already make a number of ME dishes. This will ,lead me to expand Well done.
This lovely cookbook provides everything that I could desire from it. A rich variety of Middle Eastern dishes covering everything from breakfast through dessert that come with easy instructions and ingredient lists that are as manageable as can be. Several of these dishes are new variations of current staples in my meal rotation, but I also came across quite a few that are going to go on my to-try list.
Overall, just a wonderful cookbook for those who both love the flavors of the Middle East and also like to keep things nice and easy in the kitchen.
Here are seventy-five recipes for the home cook who likes to have simple recipes that are not too time consuming. There are ideas for breakfast including a favorite of mine, shakshuka. There are many choices for small plates, soups and salads, vegetables, meats, fish and poultry.
There are wonderful photos throughout this title. The directions are easy to follow and the author has a deep connection with this cuisine.
All in all, this book is worth adding to a collection.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Rockridge Press for this title. All opinions are my own.
