This is a tangled, layered mystery in a creepy setting. An 85 year old woman walks out into the icy water outside of her home while her family slept. They assume it was suicide, but as things unfold, suspicions arise. Did someone in the family cause her harm? Who stood to gain from her death?
I really enjoyed the writing style of this story and was completely pulled into the characters and the gothic atmosphere.
As a “Knives Out style whodunnit” I found it lacking, especially because so much information is revealed in the synopsis. I would recommend not reading the synopsis if you want a surprising reading experience. Having read the synopsis, the book feels very slow as it builds to covering everything that’s revealed in the synopsis, and the “who” of the “whodunnit” is pretty obvious to a seasoned mystery reader.
Despite all of that, I really enjoyed the story for what it was- a story about a complicated family, secrets, seeing people for who they really are, and the ways in which we rewrite our own history. I would definitely pick up more from this author in the future.
Thank you to the publisher for granting me an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loved No One Will Miss her by Kat Rosenfield and was thrilled to get a DRC for her next book! Unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me. The pacing was incredibly slow for the first 75% of the book, and the plot felt more like a family drama than a thriller suspense. I thought the outcome was predictable and recommend you don’t read the blurb before reading as it gives away a bit too much in my opinion. It unfortunately was too much backstory and build up and it didn’t hold my interest. I’ll still be looking forward to seeing what the author does next though!
Thanks to William Morrow and NetGalley for the gifted DRC.
Delphine and her mother Dora have moved back to their ancestral home, The Whispers, in Bar Harbor to be closer to the family matriarch, Miriam or Mimi, who is in assisted living because she has dementia. All three of Mimi's children along with Mimi's personal nurse and Delphine decide to spend the Christmas holiday at The Whispers, which is full of secret passage ways and hidden rooms due to being built by Mimi's prohibition era bootlegger father. When Mimi is found dead the question is was it an accident, suicide, or which one of those present may have wanted her dead? This is a really slow book for the first 70%. You have 2 POV's, one of Mimi as a young girl, and Delphine in the current time. I guessed the outcome very early on and was correct. This read less like a thriller and more of a family drama. I have heard her previous book was very good and I intend to check that one out.
I had such high hopes for this one because I really enjoyed the author’s first book. This one started out promising because I liked being in the head of Delphine. Around the 20% mark, shortly after the book switches to young Miriam’s perspective, and the plot fell off a cliff for me.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story! It starts off in the middle and then goes to the beginning, switching between Delphine and her Grandmothers point of views. Most of the Grandmothers parts are from the past, which gives great insight into her character. I loved all the twists and turns and how many of the family are both good and evil in their own ways. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in psychological thrillers and mysteries!

This was a really good mystery. It was really entertaining and kept me guessing. I had a feeling I knew who the killer was, but I kept second guessing myself. Very good and entertaining!
Readers who love a good dysfunctional family drama will enjoy this one. As the Caravasios family gathers around Mimi, the matriarch of the family, they know that she has dementia and is not going to be with them for long. This is not a loving family reunion, but more of a grab to see who will inherit her fortune when she passes. It's not a spoiler to say that Mimi does pass away, walking across a frozen pond in the middle of the night. Was she in a state of dementia, walking towards a past lover, or was something more nefarious at foot? Kat Rosenfield weaves together the past and present storylines well, but there are some points in the book that drag (and one bit of ick-factor that I think the story could have done without).
I started out this book hoping for some real old fashioned family, mystery, old-house, gothic, kind of spookiness. This book flirted with it. All of the time. But it never quite got there. I was hoping for unrelaible narrators. I got boring narrators who only seem to lie to themselves. I got a house with hidden passages that I never got to explore. I got the same old story of women who base their lives on men and are completely disappointed. As was I.
There was so much promise. I kept hoping. But what I got was repeated scenes of people saying, “I’ll tell you everything.” (Cut to continuing chapter). -Tells me something I already knew-
So close. I rounded up for some of the atmosphere.
This book had a lot of things I liked and some things I didn’t.
What I liked: I loved the creepy house vibes. I’m a sucker for an old mansion with lots of secrets. I also enjoyed the different timeline povs. This kept the book interesting. I also liked the family drama and boy was there a lot!
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like that the middle of the book kind of dragged. I also didn’t like that I guessed the ending pretty early on.
Overall I would still recommend this book!
I read this between Christmas and New Years, and it was the perfect atmospheric choice for the cold weather, although I would have enjoyed reading this book any day of the year. I was able to read it quickly, which is a good sign for a story!

This one was such a great mystery/thriller with great gothic vibes to help set the scene! I truly enjoyed the ride with this one and loved all the twists and turns that it took me on and had me in a chokehold not wanting to put the book down and needing to know what was coming next.
Just remember as you read, everyone has a motive and is keeping their own secrets…..
Thank you William Morrow and NetGalley for my ARC of this one in exchange for my thoughts.
This one wasn't for me. Might pick it up at another time, but i just can't get into it at the moment.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my complimentary digital copy of Kat Rosenfield's You Must Remember This. Unfortunately, this book was not a good fit for me. I found the writing to be clunky and I was not engaged enough with the plot to keep my mind from wandering as I read. By the 50% mark I was mostly skimming to see how the ending would play out. Nothing was particularly wrong with this book, it just didn't engage me and wasn't for me.
So we all know the saying money makes the world go around; this story starts with unforgettable characters hoping to get a piece of Mimi's riches. Mini is an 85-year-old, and she has 20 million dollars in the bank that her adult children are chomping at the bit to get. However, Mini has not passed away. She is slowly losing her memory at a very slow progression of dementia.
Mimi's children, Diana, Dora, and Richard, have decided that they want to have one more Christmas in the family mansion before her memory completely goes.
This story is told from two different POVs and timelines. Delphine (Mimi's granddaughter) in the present and the past Mimi while growing up. When Mimi passes away, the family starts arguing over what will happen with the finances. They argue if it was dementia that killed her or if something far more sinister happened to her. If you are looking for a slow burn who dun it, this would be the perfect book for you!
I enjoyed it and following the story! Once I started it, I was on the edge of my seat, but it is a slow burn on whodunit! Very good thriller! While some of the twists and turns were predictable, other aspects surprised me! Thank you, William Morrow and Netgalley, for the extraordinary opportunity to read and review this one! It was a treat!
From Goodreads: "A Knives Out-style whodunnit with a twist of Taylor Jenkins Reid, You Must Remember This is an immersive Gothic mystery, with a long-ago love affair, icy death, and a rich family gone bad."
This one started out a little slow for me, but once I hit the halfway point, I had a hard time putting it down. I liked the dual timelines and the atmospheric setting. I was able to figure out "whodunnit," but there were still some good twists that I didn't see coming!
Thank you @netgalley and @williammorrowbooks for the e-arc of this book.
Initially very slow moving, this gothic mystery offers less twists and turns than it does an interesting look at a complicated family finally reckoning with decades long secrets. Well drawn characters and a compelling split timeline narrative make this stand out: while the present day timeline feels a bit more fast-moving than the one set in the past, both help to add context to the family's history. Recommended for fans of gothic mysteries and the Knives Out movies.
A taunt thriller that had me turning the pages deep into the night. Kat Rosenfield does it again. If you're looking for your next read, look no further.
𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑅𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 is the second book I’ve read by author Kat Rosenfield and I’ve yet to be disappointed! I really love the tone the author uses and her writing flows so smoothly allowing for a quick read.
This is a dark, atmospheric story, full of gothic vibes. Set in an old creepy mansion that holds many dark secrets, a family comes together to spend time with their mother who is suffering from dementia.
𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑅𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 is 𝑎 heavily character driven story filled with unreliable, sketchy characters. The story moves fast due to the dual timeline, past and present stories are both intriguing and filled with secrects and twists.
Although I did find some of the twists & the ending somewhat predictable it was still a solid 3.5 star ⭐️ read! I really enjoyed her previous thriller 𝑁𝑜 𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑊𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑀𝑖𝑠𝑠 𝐻𝑒𝑟- it was disturbing and 100% jaw dropping!
Pub date for 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑅𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 is April 5, 2023⭐️
