I loved reading this so much!!
It's a great gift for the fans of Schitt's Creek. It is a humorous guide that features party-planning tips and delicious recipes.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for this arc.
I have to kick this off by saying that if you aren’t a fan of Schitt’s Creek, this will likely miss the mark for you. There’s far more tongue in cheek text and references to the show than there are recipes so the ratio, as a non-fan, isn’t in your favour. Also.. there could be spoilers.
While the progression of the book doesn’t quite go into every single main event, most are definitely covered and the author either uses them as a guide on what to do (or not do) by pulling examples from the show, or just common sense (something occasionally lacking from the residents..), or uses the events to recreate or create a new themed recipe. I would definitely be interested in recreating a few of the foods but, just so you know, I think just about half — or more than — are drinks; just incase that isn’t your thing.
Definitely a cute read, with lovely illustrations, and perfect for fans — and maybe a fun little gift come the holidays.
Also, yes, the recipe for Mother’s Enchiladas (the inspiration for the title and probably one of the funnier scenes in the entire show) is included. You’re welcome!
This read sorta exists in that non-fiction realm where I'm not inclined to rate it but if I had to? 3.5 stars.
This book is great for any Schitt's Creek fan. It has a variety of recipes that are well written, even for those who do not know how to "fold in the cheese ". It also gives tips on entertaining all with fun Schitt's Creek humor. A must for any fan.
Description
A humorous guide that features party-planning tips, delicious recipes, and loving homages to the beloved TV comedy series, Schitt’s Creek. Dine, imbibe, and be blithesome in true Rose family fashion.
Whether they’re throwing ostentatious soirées or Valium-fueled tantrums, entertaining a crowd (and sometimes just Stevie) is what the Roses do best! Let their sagacious advice and biting wit wash over you with Fold In The Cheese: The Unofficial Schitt’s Creek Guide to Splendiferous Entertaining. Recipes like “Cardamom Rose Cocktail”, “Johnny’s Hundred-Dollar Sliders”, and “Chocolate Ganache Torte” will titillate taste buds while tips on how to put on a proper game night, host a holiday party, and even organize your own movie premiere will help to create a most consummate atmosphere for hosting. This illustrious tome gives you everything you need to create an event that’s sure to be. . . memorable.
You won't find another guide like this anywhere! I couldn't help but read the book with the voice of Moira Rose gracing my imagination. While the format of several paragraphs, recipe, several paragraphs does give you quite a bit of advice in a useful and hilarious way, I feel like it would have been easier to break it apart into bullet points in some areas to be more digestable (pun intended). If you're a fan of the show, you'll enjoy it, but it's not for everyone.
This book is adorable!! No “ew, David!” to be found here!
Fold in the Cheese is full of many types of parties and how to host each one. It’s coated in Schitts Creek anecdotes and jokes. It details each type of party and all the essential plans. There’s great recipes, games, suggestions.
I threw my best friend a Schitts Creek Bebe shower and would’ve died to have this!! I’ll definitely be purchasing this for her as a gift. Any party planner could use this but a Schitts Creek lover would be obsessed with it!
Very funny and witty book. I love Schitt's Creek so the snark was up my alley. The thing is I wouldn't get this for actual advice or help. It would just be decoration and humor.
This would be for someone who actually enjoys cooking and wants some ideas to throw a party. There were a few Schidtt's Creek references in there, but not enough for a causal fan. The illustrations were cute.
I opened this book hoping to laugh on every page, but it was more earnest than I expected. It’s an actual instruction manual for hosting, with recipes. There’s great advice for a backyard bbq mixed with farcical advice for how to attend a towny party as someone who is more used to soirees. Every chapter is based on an episode, but some work better than others. I wanted it to be either less instructional and more funny or less reference-jammed and more straightforward. I couldn’t sit down and read it cover-to-cover. It’s more of a coffee table book/conversational piece that you put out and page through every now and then. I do think it would be a great gift.
Super cute and quirky guide to hosting with all the snark we love from Schitts Creek. Would make a great housewarming or holiday gift for the Schitts Creek lover in your life. Lots of fun references to the show and some great recipes mixed in!
In my opinion, this is a MUST have for fans of Schitt's Creek. It is not only a recipe book that includes delicious recipes such as Mother's Enchilada's, but also a guide to hosting events such as backyard BBQ, premiere's, or games nights the way only the Rose's can.
I absolutely loved this. My husband and I are both fans of Schitt's Creek and have watched it too many times to count, so I found myself reading this in Moira's iconic accent, Johnny's matter of fact tone, David's snarky attitude, or Alexis's blasé' inflection. It was so fun to read and relive the moments as the Rose's did, as well as find ways to bring these into your home. Not only this, but I found the witty little commentary on the sides funny as well. I fully intend on buying this when it comes out in September so I can have a copy for myself! I, for one, have my eye on the mac and cheese recipe!
Thank you so much to Andrews McMeel Publishing, NetGalley, and the author (Parker Long) for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
First things first: Yes, this does have the recipe for Mother’s Enchiladas. And yes, this does explain what it means to “fold in the cheese.”
Parker Long’s “Fold in the Cheese: An Unofficial Guide to Spendiferous Entertaining” is delightful. The tone is perfect—as I was reading it, I could hear Moira Rose’s voice enunciating the words in my head. There are tons of cheeky party tips organized by celebration. There are more traditional ones like baby showers and birthday parties. I cackled when I saw the sections for sales schemes and movie premieres. And the accompanying illustrations are cute and charming. It’s the perfect gift for a “Schitt’s Creek” fan who also loves to entertain.
I do wish there were more recipes though. This is a fun read but I’d probably be inclined to pick it up more than once if there were more suggestions for food and beverage.

As a fan of Schitt's Creek and a lover of cookbooks I was excited to get my hands on this book!
I enjoyed the stroll down memory lane with the Schitt's Creek memories and the added bits of humor. My only complaint would be MORE RECIPES! I was a bit disappointed that there were only a handful of recipes in the book, although the ones included were fun choices
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy. My opinions are mine alone.
A fun gift for the Schitt’s Creek lover in your life. This was a delightful way to revisit one of my fav fictional towns.
Fold in the Cheese gives you recipes and party planning tips for all types of gatherings AND you get nods to all our favorite characters. My favorite recipes were the cocktails and I’m excited to try a few out.
I also thought the graphics and way the book was laid out was super easy to follow. Whoever illustrated and designed did a great job!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Fold in the Cheese is perfect for any Schitt's Creek fan. Whether you're a casual viewer or someone like me who constantly rewatches it. I dare you to not read through it in Moira Rose's rose from start to finish because that's exactly what I did lol It’s filled with tips and tricks to plan any type of party including backyard BBQs, game nights, baby showers, romantic picnics and rebranding rollouts. With game ideas and tons of great Schitt's Creek themed recipes including the infamous Mothers Enchiladas, sloppy Jocelyns, hundred dollar sliders and a few drinks recipes, there's something in here for any fan.
Quirky and fun to read. I really enjoyed the humor in this book. It was a fun book that I will recommend to all my fellow Schitts Creek lovers.
I absolutely adore Schitt's Creek and literally think about folding in the cheese on the daily. Alexis may say "Ew, David," but I say YUM. I totally want a physical copy of this because I love the design concept and the illustration style. Since pretty much every person is absolutely obsessed with Schitt's Creek, this will make a great gift, especially for a Christmas gift exchange. Pair it with a custom rose apothecary hotel key you can get on Etsy, I'm pretty sure this is the perfect show companion. It even managed to capture the fun way Moira speaks and the uppity attitude of the Roses.
This was a cute fun book about etiquette and how to act like a Rose in all social situations. Loved the inclusion of recipes!
Recommended as a gift to all the Schitt's Creek fans
Fold In The Cheese is a must have for any fan that love Schitt’s Creek. I am a huge fan on the show and I loved everything about it.
It has really great illustrations throughout the book which are very eye catching and fun. Aside from all the great humor, it also has some tips on BBQing to throwing a birthday party. It also has some great recipes !
I can’t wait to pick up this book when it comes out.
Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an eARC.
A little bit of wit and humor, this book showcases Schitt's Creek in all its festive glory. Listed are tips for games, parties and cookouts. Recipes are also throughout. Some fans of the show might like this one. I am a fan, but it was one of those books that I will look at once and probably not again.
