I downloaded this for my pet loving budding artists. She loved lo0king through the pages and trying to replicate the sketches and steps. However, she found it a little challenging.
I find drawing so relaxing but never really know where to start so I was super happy to find this book to help with it. As a hobby this book is so helpful
Lets Dogs is a step by step tutorial guide primarily aimed at older children and beginner artists. All the basic information including tools, media and materials and basic techniques is introduced first. Then a range of drawing projects centred around different breeds of dog are presented to have a go at. The book is short but the content is very good. and it is very easy to follow. The perfect starting point for beginner artists and dog lovers. Overall an excellent introductory guide.
My daughter and I read this book together and we really enjoyed it. The book is great, as it goes into detail about different art tips and techniques, art tools required and how to draw different dogs, a few examples being Bulldog, Alaskan Malamute and Poodle.
My daughter's favourite dog was the Poodle, as it looked really cute.
I highly recommend this book to all budding artists and also experienced artists, as whatever your skills, you will still learn something from this interesting and useful art book.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

How2DrawAnimals presents "Let's Draw Dogs. Learn to draw a variety of dogs and puppies step by step!" published by Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster. It is one of the books in the "Let's Draw ..." series which touches also other animals such as birds & butterflies, wild animals, or dragons. The book starts with the basic information about "Tools & Materials" and "Drawing Basics". Then it offers ten step-by-step drawing for dogs such as "German Shepherd", "Golden Retriever", "Beagle", or "Alaskan Malamute". There are also additional tips throughout the books touching topics such as "Drawing the Eye", Fur Texture", "Short Fur", or even "Your Own Pattern" for coat patterns.
It is a short book for children and beginners who want to learn to draw some dogs and it only offers the drawings in black-grey-white (although more advanced students will have no problem to adapt the instructions for drawing with colors). I highly recommend this book for this group.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Lets draw Dogs was a great wee book and would suit anyone. It has tutorials for 10 breeds of dog and how to draw them broken down into simple steps. I enjoyed reading the other information too.It helped with shading and getting the fur drawn correctly. Beautifully written and thought through.
Thanks to Net Galley and Quatro Publishing for the ARC Copy, My review is my own opinion.
I received the book from netgalley for my honest review. This book has step by step to teach you how to draw dogs. It is great fun for those learning to draw. It also teaches some about shading. My oldest daughter loves these books. She has been able to draw animals well instead of cartoon animals. Highly recommended.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Let's Draw Dogs is a step by step guidebook to help artists or budding artists to draw canine companions.
The drawings in this book are really effective and I'm definitely going to give the Boston terrier and Bulldog drawings a try. Each step looks simple enough to follow and the next part to draw is in blue on the sketch so you can see more clearly the step you are up to and follow it more easily. Some areas are very detailed so a more detailed and enlarged picture of these steps would be beneficial in this book but that's just my observation and may not be an issue for some more experienced sketchers.
This book wasn't what I was expecting. It was a little difficult to follow the drawing directions and I didn't like how the circles still showed through the finished drawing.

Sorry to say but I did not like this book, (though well constructed and easy to follow) because of the concept of creating complex structures from circles. It can be a good approach when teaching 5-6 years old children but from a book for adults (even if beginners) I'd like to see a bit more, like a minimum of anatomy. The problem that if you do not understand the structure you are unable to represent it realistically, and a minimum of movement or variation will vanify the effort.
Let's Draw Dogs is a fun collection of drawing tutorials by How2DrawAnimals. Due out 16th Aug 2022 from Quarto on their Walter Foster Jr. imprint, it's 48 pages and will be available in paperback format.
For all the readers who grew up with the spin racks of technique booklets from Foster at their local stationery/art store, the format in this new series of books will be comfortingly familiar. The books begin with very basic overviews over tools and supplies and pencil techniques for light and shadow, shading, texture, and form.
There are 10 tutorials included in the book for a varied selection of dogs such as a German Shepherd, Corgi, Golden Retriever, poodle, an adorable Husky puppy and 5 more. Tutorials are easy to follow and show step by step refinements with new lines and shading included. The tutorials cover two pages each with 10 steps from simple shapes to finished, shaded drawing.
This would make a great gift for would-be artists of all ages. The included tutorials are varied and eclectic. There is a complete table of contents, so locating individual ones shouldn't be problematic. They're slanted toward pencil sketches, though colored pens, crayons, and watercolors could certainly be used to enhance the drawings.
Nice booklet, accessible for everyone.
Five stars. This would be a nice choice, bundled with some drawing supples, for a young artist. It would also do well for school or public library acquisition, home library, and even for adults/childminders/caregivers/teachers who want to up their "draw with me" game with their young charges.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
My 9 year old niece has been obsessed with learning to draw and these books were perfect for her! She was over the moon when she noticed there was a Husky included in this book and about lost her mind while drawing it several times. I especially appreciated the tips and tricks offered to new and experienced artists. I loved the variety given to draw, and there's something for everyone, no matter what your drawing experience.
Not only does this book go through drawing basics, but it gives step-by-step directions in 10-12 steps. It is intended for kids, but I think the types of drawing are kind of advanced. There are a variety of ypes of creatures within the book. It also gives a list of tools and materials needed to be successful.
I enjoyed following the step by step instructions on how to draw a couple of dogs from this book and I must say they turned out quite well. The projects are appealing and anyone wanting to learn how to draw our canine friends will surely do well after some practice (or if you are a beginner, after LOTS of practice because let's face it - creatures are hard to draw well. That's why we need good guidebooks like this one.)
As always, I liked that each new step is shown in blue instead of black used in the previous step so it's easy to see where you are to draw next. The one thing I would like to see perhaps is a zoom-in for some of the more detailed and complicated steps, like the eyes and mouth. I was glad to be looking at a digital copy, as I could pinch for a closer look. The pictorial instructions stop at the essential outlines and further details like how to shade the fur and so on are not given except in text. Still, this volume would be a useful addition for any artist's library if they are looking to draw more realistic looking dogs.
4 and a half stars for me.
"Let's Draw Dogs" was the perfect summer holidays activity for my daughter who loves dogs and art in equal amounts. At first glance, she was a bit overwhelmed and declared "Woah, this is going to be hard" but she soon got really in to it. The step by step instructions inspired confidence and there's lots of tips to help you add texture and detail to your pictures. Let's Draw Dogs" is a great way to track your progress and your skill progress. There's a nice variety of dogs to draw within the book but ideally, I think she would have a larger number of dogs draw. I know there are hundreds of different types but if you included more than ten dogs, you would even turn it into a new years resolution activity eg draw the top 50 dogs in 2o23 etc.
Thanks to How2DrawAnimals, their publisher and NetGalely for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Let’s draw dogs is a book that takes you step by step through how to draw dogs, with simple texts and drawings.
I’m not an artist but this book made me want to try drawing. It was fun to see the step by step, and it made it look so simple. Hopefully this will be a good guide to beginners and people interested or thinking about getting into drawing.
This is a good book to learn how to draw dogs. I can't draw but my son loves to, so I plan on getting him this book and some others.
Really loved this drawingbook! Great for beginners or for those that have been drawing for a long time. Such great steps, descriptions and pictures! Highly recommend this drawing book!
**Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me this for my honest review.
This book was a little less successful for me than some others in the series, mostly because there are just so many kinds of dogs to draw so these random 10 dogs may not represent what you or your child want to draw. With cats, they all mostly follow a few basic shapes like short hair and Persian so you can adapt a basic tutorial and probably get close to the look of whatever cat you want to draw. There are so many wildly different kinds of dogs that these 10 breeds don't necessarily give you what you need to extrapolate for other dogs you want to draw. That said, it's still a good resource.
This is the standard old fashioned drawing tutorial book with the shapes given -- first draw a circle and then lines here, and then erase these bits, and then add these bits, and then shade and color. It is in black and white with ten breeds shown like a corgi, a standard poodle and a bulldog's head.
Like the other books in this series, this is a good basic drawing book -- short, easy to follow and affordable (under $10). The first four pages of each book have the same content recommending simple supplies like a number two pencil and give basic instructions on drawing the shapes, shading, adding detail, etc. The book is rather short but it's also inexpensive and should be easy for kids or adults to use successfully.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
