This one had all the makings of a juicy neighborhood drama—secrets, suspicion, and just the right amount of mess. The cast of characters was chaotic in a fun, reality-TV kind of way, and I definitely found myself flipping pages to see who was hiding what. That said, some plot points felt a little over the top, and I didn’t fully connect with every character. Still, it delivered on the drama and made for a fun, gossipy escape.
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 3.5 stars for this suburban soap opera with a PG-13 rating for language and mature themes.

It archived before I could download but I just finished my copy from the library and was glad I finally was able to read it.

I wasn't expecting this one. I did like it but I feel like I would've enjoyed it more if I read the synopsis. I usually like to go in blind because I feel like synopsis ruins the book for me but I would've liked to know where this book was going before I started.

I really do not think this book was for me. It was hard to get through and I really wasn't interested in the characters.

This book was funny. I love how "put her foot down" she was about the garden gnome situation and how it escalated. Let's just say there are a lot of garden gnomes in this story. Thanks NetGalley for giving me an ARC audiobook copy. It was a treat.

This book didn't work for me. I found the plot to be a little thin. Not much really happens except the kids are over the top annoying.

I’m always excited to add a new audiobook to my monthly reads, so I quickly added WITH NEIGHBORS LIKE THIS after reading the synopsis.
It was a cute romcom with relatable characters, and I liked the love interest between Amelia and Kyle. The audio was narrated by Eva Wilhelm, who really brought the story to life.
*many thanks to Dreamscape Media/Netgalley for the gifted audiobook for review

Thank you so much for the advanced copy of this book. It definitely lived up to its hype. This author has become a must read.

This was a typical rom-com. Didn't stand out a ton, but it was a good time while I was reading it. I appreciated what the main character went through to ensure her kids felt seen/heard.

I absolutely loved the audio of this book. The narrator was perfect to bring to life the story the author was writing. I loved the characters meant to be loved and LOATHED the others. It was a fantastic read.

Super cute rom-com. You don’t cross a mama bear ever. I really enjoyed the realistic characters. I will say the ending, while cute, didn’t feel final. Hopefully that means we will be seeing these characters again. There’s definitely potential for a series with the other characters being the stars.
The narrator did a great job differentiating between characters. And there’s a lot of different characters.

I recently read With Neighbors Like This by Tracy Goodwin and I was thoroughly impressed. This book is everything you could want in a fun novel: It has a likable main character, intriguing relationships, and lots of twists!

i listened to the audiobook version of “with neighbors like these” and i instantly fell in love with amelia and kyle! the narrators did a fabulous job with all the voices and i felt that the novel moved along very smoothly. if you enjoyed “the suite spot” by trish dollar, i think you’d equally like this novel. i always look forward to seeing romances that incorporate the family as a whole into the couple’s relationship … if you date amelia, you’re courting her two children, too. and i was impressed with great kyle was with the kiddos and with that, i fell for him as well! i think you know he’s a real winner if the kids approve of him since they’d be the hardest to please. i also admired how amelia juggled her duties as a single-mom and how she put her kids before her own relationship. i equally loved how kyle understood where amelia’s priorities stood and was eager to get to know her kids while getting to know amelia. although i got frustrated at the kid’s father for not being there, the rest of the novel had me feeling super happy and it was an overall feel-good book!

After reading back to back horror, this was exactly what I needed. I thought the relationship was cute. Our MC was relatable (I was also a single mom of 2 kids)
My only issue was--MOVE THE GNOME TO THE BACK YARD! 😂

This is a much later review but I was really intrigued by the main idea of the book but when I started listening it wasn't as engaging as I first thought. I struggle through the first two hours and then DNF.

A feel good book with a happily ever after. If you want to take a break from serious novels and cringey topics, this will be a good substitute.
Thank you #NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for giving me the opportunity to listen to this!

To be perfectly honest, what initially drew me to this one was the set-up for the HOA to be the villain. In our old neighborhood, we had a few neighbors who would joke and complain about our Homeowner's Association. And I recently saw a funny list online of things that made you realize that your family was weird and one person wrote in that the villain in all of their bedtime stories as a kid was the head of the HOA. So, I had high hopes for this to be something silly - with maybe some true villainy by the wicked head of the HOA. This was not what I expected...
Newly single and newly returned to Houston, Amelia promises her children that the hand-painted gnome that they made for her could be in their new front yard. Unfortunately, this goes against the HOA rules, pitting Amelia against them - despite being drawn to the volunteer president of the HOA, Kyle, a too-good-to-be-true character if I have ever read one. In this chaste romance, there's al to of "#MomLife" moments- from puking kids, bullies and tickle fights. It's an entertaining enough audiobook that is well-performed and the pacing at least keeps it moving quickly. But the male hero is just so unbelievable. And though the relationship that grows between them is technically built on mutual support and friendship, the characters just aren't given much dimension. The very definite PG-rating also seems a bit at odds with the genre and the clunky endings to each chapter left me rolling my eyes with regularity.
Maybe it's just that I am not the key audience for this one. The whole book just fell flat for me. I wanted it to be funnier, for it to more firmly fall under the enemies to lovers trope and for the HOA itself to be more villainous instead of being over-represented by an oddly and unmotivatedly catty representative from the construction company. It also seemed odd that Kyle, who owns a construction company, would live in a subdivision that is obviously still building and selling houses... I don't know, overall, this one just wasn't for me.

Recently divorced Amelia Marsh and her two kids have just moved into a new neighborhood in a Houston suburb, and she immediately finds herself doing battle with the local HOA over whether the garden gnome her kids made her is appropriate lawn décor. Amelia refuses to back down. She feels an attraction to new neighbor Kyle Marsh but is dismayed to learn that he is the HOA president. The two can’t deny their attraction, but Amelia is afraid to date so soon after her divorce, and Kyle is afraid that dating a woman with kids will only lead to triple the heartache if things end between them. Can they take a chance on love?
This book was billed as an enemies-to-lovers romance, among other things, but Amelia and Kyle weren’t even temporary enemies. I would describe it much more as a friends-to-lovers story. This book was much more than just a romance, as we saw Amelia’s relationship with her kids and her friends, as well as watching Amelia figure out who she is now that she is divorced. I did like that the kids sounded realistic in the story; too many stories have kids sounding much younger or older than their age. I did not care for the narrator of the audiobook. If you read this book, I would recommend getting a physical or ebook copy.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

I listened to this a few weeks ago and honestly now that I’m trying to review it I do not recall the characters names or even really what happened. I do recall enjoying it but just didn’t find it overly memorable. Maybe next time

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio version of this book. All writings are of my own opinion. I am not compensated in any way for my review.
This is a fun book about a recently divorced mom with two kids. She buys a home in an area with HOA's. She falls for the HOA president. The HOA code enforced is a woman with no life who sets out to make life not so fun- while in the process of trying to find HOA violations on residents in the HOA she is violating the privacy of residents. While all this is going on she falls for the HOA president. this is a fun quirky romance read.
