The Tourist Trap Series has long been a favorite and the 14th in the series, A Vacation to Die For, does not disappoint - it's just as good as all the others in the series. Jill Gardner and fiance police detective Greg King are finally getting away for the weekend to plan their wedding, but unfortunately, Greg is called back to South Cove when a man stumbles into the police station and dies. This book also finds Jill fending off unwanted offers from a very persistent developer to purchase her beloved home, investigating mysteries surrounding the developer and his wife, facing staffing shortages and staff with troubles of their own, and dealing with many questions around her pending marriage. Greg and Toby are working way too many hours solving the murder, Aunt Jackie has cut back her hours to spend time with her new husband, and employee Evie, who now lives in Aunt Jackie's old apartment above the shop, is facing demons from her past life that include her ex-husband and his sister.

There are so many different angles to this story it's wonderful! What does Jill investigate first? I have no idea how she keeps Coffee, Books and More running with all of the issues these people face! But, true to form, with the help of her staff, Aunt Jackie, and friends in South Cove, she puts all of the pieces together and unravels the many connections among the characters and the dead man, eventually helping Greg solve the crime. Of course the murder is not solved without Jill finding herself in the culprit's crosshairs.

Not only is this a fantastic mystery, but all the characters are people you wish you were friends with. Jill, Greg, Amy, Aunt Jackie, Toby are like good friends you see once a year. Evie is a great addition to the series and jumps right in to help Jill with her sleuthing, adding some very valuable information along the way. Deek is a favorite with his 'perpetual student' persona, growing into a good writer and his ability in helping people find exactly the right book. All of the characters form one cohesive family and you get so wrapped up in their lives that you sometimes forget a murder has been committed!

This murder was difficult to solve, although I did suspect there was more going on with one of the characters than was explained until the very end. The final reveal of the culprit was surprising and unexpected. This book was difficult to put down with all the twists, turns, red herrings and nuances thrown into the story - well done Ms. Cahoon!

I will continue to look forward to having many more adventures with Jill and the South Cove crew and highly recommend this book and all of the others in the series.

Jill and Greg are off for the weekend to plan a wedding. But surprise, a murder takes Greg away. But the victim is a John Doe and the investigation is going nowhere. There are odd going-ons in South Cove. Is the victim tied to the offers on Jill’s house or is there something else going on. This is my favorite Tourist Trap mystery so far!

Jill and Greg barely get away for the weekend, when he is called back for a murder. Once back herself, Jill is thrown into drama with Evie and her ex-husband and his sister. The murdered man stubbled into the police station with a knife in him, no id. Who was he and why was he murdered? A quick read, could be a stand alone, but more enjoyable as part of the series. Thanks to NetGalley, Kensington Books, and Ms Cahoon for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love reading cozy mysteries and Lynn Cahoon is one of the best!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this review copy of A vacation to die for. Book and coffee shop owner Jill and her fiancé Greg find themselves once again in the middle of a mystery when an unknown, stabbed man enters the police station and dies.
In the meantime, Jill’s employee Evie has her own problems with her ex-family-in-law.
I very much enjoyed this story and being part of this small town’s community. I’ll be on the lookout for Lynn Cahoon’s other books!

Thank you to NetGalley for sending an ARC of this title.

In the California coastal town of South Cove, Jill Gardner, owner of Coffee, Books, and More, discovers that wedding planning can be murder . . .

Hustling her fiancé off to a neighboring tourist town might be the only way Jill Gardner can plan her nuptials to South Cove's in-demand police detective. But when a mystery man turns up dead at South Cove's PD, Greg is hightailing it back home to investigate, leaving Jill to finish the vacation solo.

Jill can barely get in a spa day before her own respite is spoiled by a greedy hotel guest and unexpected revelations about Max Winter, the developer conniving to buy her home out from under her. Then there's the staffing issues at the store, the strange men seen lurking about town, and an aggressive and obnoxious family member harassing Jill's beloved employee. It's enough to make the bride-to-be full of jitters . . . especially when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer . . .

This is an easy cozy mystery with enjoyable scenery and characters.

Of course there's a murder! All Greg and Jill wanted was a weekend away to plan their wedding and just relax but no... A man has turned up at the police station with the knife still in him and Greg, a detective. has to go back to sort things out. Who is he? How is he connected to the town and to....Jill's book and coffee shop. Jill finds she has to snoop as well when it turns out that Evie, one of her employees, might be in trouble. And then there's the mayor and the evil developer who want the land under Jill's house. This is a classic cozy with good characters and some fine red herrings. New readers should enjoy it as much as fans. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Will Greg and Jill ever make it down the aisle?

The fourteenth book in this series but only the second one I have read. I have promised myself to go back and read them all because I do enjoy the characters and the author's style.

In A Vacation to Die For Jill and Greg take a short break to spend time relaxing and planning their wedding. Unfortunately murder takes precedence and Greg gets called back to investigate the death of an unknown who has collapsed into the police station with a knife in his back. It seems this wedding is going to be a long time coming!

Of course Greg investigates and Jill promises not to get involved but still manages to pick up the most important clues and even discovers the identity of the dead man. The author does an excellent job of obscuring the identity of the murderer by following a number of apparently separate stories which come together at the end. All this made for a really enjoyable read.

Always a treat to meet up with Jill, Greg, Emma the dog, plus all the coffee shop/bookstore employees, and all of the other interesting characters in this long running Tourist Trap series (this is the 14th book in the series).

Typically, there's a clever plot, along with these great characters.

Love this series!!

It was fun to hang out with Jill, Greg, and Emma again. There is an interesting cast of characters that goes along with a great story line. I love how the folks of South Cove take care of each other, doesn’t matter if you’ve lived there forever or just moved in. That is one thing that is so great about some small towns. I can’t wait to see what direction the lives of the good folks of South Cove take. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Jill knows how to get into predicaments without even trying. The bookstore with the coffee shop sounds like a wonderful place to go and visit. This is a very good story. The murder keeps everyone on their toes especially when the victim's identity is unknown. This list of unusual characters in this books keeps things busy in a good way. This is a book that I would recommend. I am looking forward to the next book to find out what is going on with everyone.

One of my top cozy series.
Great characters that I love to return to.
The whodunit pulled me in and kept me guessing.
I hope to read more books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This is my favorite series by Lynn Cahoon. I like the characters and the setting. Things move forward with each book. Although I would like more about why Esmeralda thinks Jill has a 'special talent". But it is like visiting old friends each time I'm able to read one in this series. I hope we have many more to come.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

You just can't go wrong with a book by Lynn Cahoon. This is the 14th book in the Tourist Trap Mystery series and at this point in a series sometimes books can feel stale, I never felt that way with this book. The mystery was good, I got to revisit characters I love and even meet new ones that I can't wait to learn more about.

I'm a big fan of these series. When a man stumbles into the police station with a stab wound and dies and Jill's employee, Evie, starts getting harassed by her ex sister and law and husband Jill starts suspecting a link. Of course she has to step in to protect Evie. The murdered man has links to the land developer who is after Jill to sell her home and also to Evie's ex sister in law.
This is a great read- Jill and Greg are busy trying to figure out their future as a married couple, Can't wait for the next book in the series!

The 14th Tourist Trap Mystery can be read as a standalone, in order of publication or like I did, read in a jumbled order! I didn't have any problems keeping up with the awesome characters or story plot. South Cove is an awesome getaway place for readers!! Fast paced with lots of red herrings. A true delight!! Thanks #netgalley and #Keningston for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Someone is trying to buy Jill's house again to build a fancy hotel with an upscale restaurant. Mayor Baylor is encouraging the wealthy developer Max, who is very pushy and keeps offering more money, even though Jill is not selling. The next day Jill and Greg go for a long weekend to a B & B up the California coast to try to plan their wedding and get some time together. Jill overhears the only other person staying there talking the phone saying that their father trusted HER more than his own children. Greg gets a call to come back to . A man showed up at the Police Station with a knife in his stomach. Jill calls Amy to come stay with her for the weekend and they go to the spa and spend a day at the beach.

When Jill gets home, she finds that she needs more staff in the book store. Toby is needed full time with the police and Evie is having family visiting. Fortunately, Deek has a friend who agrees to apply and Jill hires her right away. The knifed man takes a long time to identify, and Evie's ex husband and his sister are being very aggressive about trying to get a valuable clock which Evie's father in law had given to her. There is a new yarn store in town, and Jill quickly makes a new friend in the owner Chrissy, who comes to the shop for coffee every morning.

With an unsolved murder in town and Evie's rotten relatives becoming more aggressive, Jill eventually gets herself into a very dangerous situation. This is an exciting book, and a very good addition to the series.

A Vacation to Die For is the 14th book in the Tourist Trap Mysteries written by Lynn Cahoon. I've read many of the author's other series, and I started this one in early 2022... now that I've read all the prior versions I was able to pick up a copy of her latest due to be released next month (Thanks NetGalley). Set in a seaside California town and focused on a 30ish protagonist named Jill, the series is filled with great characters, gorgeous scenery, and lots of levity, despite the frequent homicide count. In this installment, the town is battling over a new high-end hotel proposal. The mayor wants Jill to sell her historic home but she won't budge. A suspicious real estate developer is in the mix, and a stranger shows up dead on the police station steps. Jill's fiancé, Greg, is the local police detective, so the two solve the case together: Greg thru legal means and Jill by pushing her way in, even tho Greg asks her not to. Jill's employee is involved because her ex-husband is stalking her and has connections to the dead guy. How does it all come together? You'll have to read it to find out... I very much enjoyed the book and the mystery; the murder happened suddenly and to someone we didn't know, nor did we know the person's identity for much of the book, so it felt a little weird... but it came together in the end. And the side stories moved forward in a cohesive manner. Looking forward to the next one in 2023.

I've been reading this series for a while now and while I enjoy it, I feel like the author could use a little variety in their writing. We all know by this point that Emma likes to run on the beach and chase seagulls...but it seems like she might use some of the same language in each book as a little filler.

Either way, a decent effort for the 14th installment of a series. I'm a little concerned about whether or not there will be enough residents left in the town by the time the whole series ends. I do like a number of the newer characters like Evie though Crissy seems to be bringing some stereotypes of people from the big city with her.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is one of my favorite long running cozy series . It is a delight to return to this series and I hope the author continues it for a long time. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity for review.

A Vacation to Die for is the 14th book in the Tourist Trap Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. Jill Gardner and her fiance, Police Chief Greg King, go to a nearby B&B for a long weekend to relax and discuss wedding plans. The other guest is suspiciousy rude. Greg has to leave early when a man dies at the police station. The guest from the B&B comes to town and turns out to be a relative to Jill's employee Evie and the problems begin for Jill and Evie. As the murder investigation becomes more involved Jill is on top of her investigation game and soon red herrings and clues abound.

A very enjoyable sleuth that I read cover to cover. Well done to the author on this 14th in series.
