An interesting new series. The story has a dirty dozen type storyline. The characters are well developed and the book has good action scenes. I am interested in seeing where the next book in the series goes. A good read.

Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Set in the North African desert during WW2 this is an easy read action novel. Cooke brings together a bunch of misfits to capture a high ranking Egyptian before he deserts to the Germans. They trail across the desert with descriptions that curl your toes with the heat and sand along their reliance upon each other - none of whom is exactly a gentleman shall we say. Well-written and characters well-drawn. An exciting read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy

I remember reading this as a teenager in the ‘70s, so it was fun to have another go.
The author churned out an incredible number of books, easy reading WW2 action which was ideal for those moving on from the infamous “Commando” comics into action novels. This has not dated and is all action fun.
A team of misfits is brought together to chase a fugitive across the deadly African desert. Can they survive to complete their mission?
Pleased to find out how well it has survived 50 years, Charles Whiting got the balance just right with page turning action.
