This was an interesting look into forensic psychiatry. I found the book enjoyable with just the right amount of humor. I'm not sure that I would actually put this book in a true crime section, but I would suggest it to anymore interest in the psychiatry field.
Engaging and insightful. This is a recommended purchase for collections where true crime and pop psychology titles are popular.
Thanks to the publisher for an ARC of this book. This was a fascinating read, focusing on the experience of a forensic psychologist. As someone going into the mental health field I enjoyed this and hope to learn more about forensic psychology.
I received an ARC of, In Two Minds Stories of Murder, Justice and Recovery from a Forensic Psychiatrist, by Dr. Sohom Das. Dr Das has a very interesting job as a forensic psychologist. His job is not for the weak of heart. Working in prisons and hospitals, seeing the worst of humanity, those we failed, and those who failed us. A great read.
In Two Minds
Stories of Murder, Justice and Recovery from a Forensic Psychiatrist

Very interestong book . I did have to use many word look-ups, such as U.K. vs the U.S. wording and spelling. Such an odd difference in spellings. But, it is NOT BAD nor am I SAD. Makes me really think and see from another pairs of eyes, Loved it.
I really enjoyed this book. The author made it very enjoyable by actually talking about his personal life and the tough decisions that he has to think about while evaluating mentally disturbed criminals.
I loved all of the references to the 90's and to pop music, it made it seem like the author was more real and down to earth.
I liked learning about the difference between a person who is "mad", "bad" and "sad". Not everyone who is committing crimes are bad and but some are mad.
The clinical settings, the tight timetables and the interesting cases made the book a must read for anyone interested in forensic psychiatry.
A must read for anyone interested in true crime/mental illness.
This is a fascinating read about forensic psychiatry. I really enjoyed it. The author has a very good sense of humor and it added a lot to the book.
Hilariously funny, interesting and intriguing and it’s all told by a self effacing Doctor Who took his work seriously but not himself. I truly enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down although these aren’t detailed stories of True Crime they certainly talked about it and the people who committed the crimes or discussed with honesty and care. A truly interesting great book and one I will probably read again in the future. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
For a nonfiction, this was an easy and enjoyable read. The author takes the time to explain the more complex concepts with laymen terms and makes the content easily digestible.
This book provides a super interesting perspective in to a very misunderstood field. My previous thoughts on Forensic Psychology were those given to be by true crime shows, and I definitely did not fully understand this field.
Towards the end of the book this becomes more autobiographical and while it was interesting I didn't feel like it flowed with the overall concept of the book. However, despite the slight self promotion, the impact was still strong.
My sincere thanks to the author and Mobius Books for the gifted review copy via NetGalley. Now available.
I really loved learning more about Dr. Das' experience with the mental health field, dealing with criminal offenders. I also appreciated the thorough explanation of various types of mental disorders.
Thank you NetGalley and Mobius Books for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. I was so excited to get approved for this book because the description really grabbed my attention.
"Forensic psychiatrists are a different species from other psychiatrists; we assess, treat and rehabilitate offenders, usually perpetrators of violent and sexual crimes."
I really enjoyed this book! I thought Dr. Das's story was funny at times and compelling. I really enjoyed his style of writing, learning about his journey into forensic psychiatry, and his stories about his patients he encountered along his way. I thought his stories about his patients were both fascinating and disturbing.
I also enjoyed the educational aspect of this book. I really didn't know what a forensic psychiatrist was prior to reading this book and gained more knowledge about the forensic health system. There were also a whole array of different mental illnesses I'd never heard of.
Very interesting book and I highly recommend!
