Everything Williams does is cute! I don’t quite get the obsession with airports and flying but the plot is sweet and so it worked.
Denise Williams has become one of my favorites when it comes to romance, and I was so excited to read this collection of previously published novellas, LOVE AND OTHER FLIGHT DELAYS. It features three different books, The Love Connection, The Missed Connection, and The Sweetest Connection.
I enjoyed how each novella was centered around the setting of an airport and thought they were fun reads,
*many thanks to Berkley and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review
Thanks to Berkley Romance for a free arc of this book!
Love and Other Flight Delays is a set of novellas that are airport/ flight/ travel themed - a perfect vibe for summer. All are dual perspective and overall I really enjoyed. Here are mini reviews of each story!
The Love connection: Hot male romance writer who works in risk management and a cute female love interest who owns a dog grooming business. The side characters felt like they had more personality than our two love interests - I wanted more depth to Ollie especially, though this did get better as the story went on. Bennett was my fave. The last 1/3rd really sold me after the slow start! Rating: 3.5/5, little spicy / partially open door.
The Missed Connection: Ooh okay I love that this keeps characters from the last story because Gia was great. Grumpy sunshine trope!!!! Only one bed trope!!!! I loved this from beginning to end - Gia and Felix both felt like more complex characters, and the plot really pulled me along from beginning to end. 5/5, closed door.
The Sweetest Connection: This one is very playful. Love the best friends pining for each other trope. Very cute despite the predictability. Loved the plot of this as well and them chasing love stories around the airport. This one is also a little spicy and open door. 4.5/5 stars.
Overall I really liked this and would recommend to fans of romance novellas!
"I know life isn't a fairy tale or a rom-com, but imagine there being one person you're meant to be with no matter the obstacles, no matter the cons on the list."
I just loved how this book had three different airport romances going on. I think it's unique for romance to occur in a place where people are on the constant move to "go, go, go," and then there's that one person who appears and makes you "stay, stay, stay." The airport is a representation of fate, because you'll never know who you'll run into, or if you'll ever see them again, especially when you're both travelling. In this book, we have a romance between an airport pet groomer and a constant work traveller, two professionals who travel for a business trip, and two best friends who work at the airport. All three love stories are least expected, as we have a story where the pair dates for romance writing inspiration, another pair that showcases an enemies-to-lovers trope, and lastly, a best friends-to-lovers trope. MEANING, WE GET ALL THE VIBES HERE. From meet-cutes to grand gestures, from enemies to besties. DEFINITELY A MUST READ.
The novellas in this book were super cute! I enjoyed reading them while at the airport and they put a big smile on my face. Thank you for the opportunity to read them early!
WOW THIS BOOOKS WAS AMAZING!!
Denise did not miss with this book, I love her book so much and this wasn't the exception. I like the fact that is 3 book in one. I CANT choose a favorite couple. Do yourself a favor and read this book. I like that this book is too good in all the sense of the word.
Thank you so much net galley for the ARC
Three novellas based on love stories based loosely in an airport. These were fun, quick reads - and I loved the connections between the three stories. Williams writes characters that I enjoy and stories that are effortless to read. I definitely recommend this collection.
With short story collections, it's always hard to review, but just know if you love swoony and precious romance stories, this is a must read. Williams is able to infuse a "Love Actually" feel to this collection. Revolving around this airport and some Easter Egg connections, there's a thread throughout. It feels seamless, almost like transitioning from chapter to chapter. Love and Other Flight Delays is a testament to the magic of first impressions, conversations with strangers, and momentary sparks.

Love And Other Flight Delays is a collection of interconnected romance novellas set at an Atlanta airport. We follow three different couples and I really enjoyed the diversity between them.

⭐⭐⭐.5
Ollie ♥ Bennett
I loved the chemistry between these characters. Ollie is an airport pet groomer, which I think is so cool. She ends up bumping into Bennett, her frequent-flier crush, while she’s chasing a dog.
There’s a fake-dating situation between the two, but they begin to learn that their feelings toward each grow stronger. It was a bit slow at times, but it is a novella so it was fun. I also enjoyed how Bennett was a romance author and how supportive Ollie was.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Gia ♥ Felix
Out of the three novellas, this one was by far my favorite. I love the grumpy-meets-sunshine trope and it was written so well in this story. Gia and Felix had one kiss on New Year's Eve in the same airport, and soon after they went their separate ways.
Months later, both of them are reconnected. I loved the epilogue in this one, it really clicked with me. Also, I just loved how Gia and Felix were complete opposites but perfect for each other.

⭐⭐⭐
Teagan ♥ Silas
Two best friends, Teagen and Silas, have a week to return a love note found in this candy shop, I really enjoyed how wholesome and caring these characters were. Teagan is leaving for France in a week, therefore Silas ends up taking extra shifts so he can have as much time as possible with her.
I instantly felt the connection between both characters. They were so sweet to each other. The only issue I had with this novella was that I felt it wasn’t wrapped up that well. The epilogue for this one was not my fav, and I wish we got more from their future relationship.

All three novellas were previously published, but I loved how they were all connected in this one book. The couples were all so diverse and interesting to read about. I loved the airport setting for them. Highly recommend it!
Thank you Berkley Romance and NetGalley for the free gifted book and e-ARC in exchange for my honest review, all thoughts are my own!
Love and Other Flight Delays is a collection of three novellas.
The Love Connection is a novella about Ollie and Bennett. Ollie opened a pet grooming salon in an airport, and Bennett is professional risk assessor/romance author. When the two meet because of a runaway pup, their airport romance has them flying high. This is cute, and this is quick. Pretty unbelievable - are there actual groomers in airports? - and pretty insta-love, but pretty fun if you want a sweet escape!
The Missed Connection is a second chance romance. After spending a magical New Year's Eve stranded at an airport, they end up as colleagues - and rivals - when Felix takes a job at Gia's university. Will a work trip reignite their romance? This is was slightly less insta-love because its a second chance romance, but the novella does move quickly. It was a cute romance!
The Sweetest Connections is a friends-to-lovers romance between Teagan and Silas. When Teagan finds a love letter in her candy store, she recruits her best friend Silas to help her figure out who the letter belongs to. With only a few days left together, Silas and Teagan have to decide whether or not to risk their friendship. This was a cute novella - but it was probably my least favorite of the three. The good thing about a collection of novellas is there are two other love stories to read!
I really didn't know what to expect from this book, especially considering I requested it mainly because of the cute cover and because Denise Williams, romance writer extraordinaire, wrote it.
What I found within the pages was three novellas packed with humor, wit, and of course a bit of spice, all taking place in-- where else-- an airport.
While I would love to see these stories expanded upon, the novella format was fun and sweet.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
Denise Williams hits it out of the part every single time. I read these stories individually as they were released, and I love that they're in a collection now!
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
If you're looking for low-angst, low-steam and just fun novellas this is the book for you. This very much gave me the vibes at the end of Love Actually when everyone at the airport is just finding love and connecting. Love and Other Flight Delays contains 3 standalone but interconnected novellas about finding love and travel.
The Love Connection:
-m/f insta attraction
-epistolary elements
-a crush
The Missed Connection
-rivals to lovers
-bi rep
-a NYE kiss
The Sweetest Connection
-friends to lovers
-second chance elements
-pining
✨THE LOVE CONNECTION✨
rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
✈️ This was my favorite of the three novellas! Ollie works at a pet grooming place inside the airport and falls for a frequent flier who she keeps running into. I loved the banter between Ollie and Bennett.
💛 trope: fake dating
✨THE MISSED CONNECTION✨
rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
✈️ Strangers who meet at the airport and spend the night together find out that they are rivals in their career field and will be traveling together. Out of the three novellas, I felt the least interested in this one.
💛 tropes: grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, enemies to lovers
✨THE SWEETEST CONNECTION✨
rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
✈️ This was my second fave! Teagan finds a love letter and enlists her best friend, Silas, to help her discover its owner. It was clear that sparks were flying between the characters and they had a fun dynamic!
💛 trope: friends to lovers
All of these novellas were cute & quick reads!
I was absolutely worried going into this short story collection having only read Denise's full-length works but as a lover of her works, these were a great additions...even if flying freaks me out.
This is a cute book for people who like short, lighthearted romance. This book has three different love stories that take place (at some point in the story) at the airport. It has a little bit of everything for everyone: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, long distance relationship, grumpy sunshine, etc.
5⭐ this was honestly SO delightful 🥹🥹🥹
This is a collection of 3 novellas–the first is meet-cute strangers to friends-to-lovers, the second is academic rivals-to-lovers, and the third is a friends-to-lovers with looots of pining 🥰
What they all have in common is boatloads of steamy tension, hilarious banter, mutual obsession, a little spice, and a LOT of heart. I loved them all, but the borderline enemies-to-lovers tension in #2's Gia and Felix had me wishing their story was a full-length novel. I can already tell this is going to be one of my new go-to books when I need a romantic little pick-me-up. ❤️
These stories were so, so good! I loved each and every one of them!! Definitely can’t wait to see what else Denise Williams comes up with!
A collection of novellas taking place in an airport, Love and Other Flight Delays is a funny and swoony book about taking chances and getting your timing right. I loved all three couples for different reasons, and by the end, I felt like I knew this airport and the people who worked there and passed through it every day. Wholeheartedly recommend.
My thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Love Connection
This one had an airport meet-cute that I really enjoyed. It was marketed as a 'fake dating' trope but I really didn't understand how they were fake dating. I think it was more miscommunication rather than fake dating. Neither character wanted to reveal how they really felt about the other despite them both confessing their obvious attraction to the other person. Also, their "conflict" was another big miscommunication. I would rate this one 3 stars on its own, just because it would have taken one text to solve their problem.
The Missed Connection
I love a grumpy vs. sunshine workplace book. Very Ali Hazelwood. I did feel that this story dragged on too much though. I know this sounds strange since it was a short story, but I felt like there was not really anything happening when there could have been lots of stuff happening. 3 stars.
The Sweetest Connection
My absolute favourite story! I am usually not a friends-to-lovers person but I loved this. It gave me Emily Henry's "People We Meet on Vacation" vibes and I was so here for it. I loved the back and forth the elusive "we made a mistake in the past...but did we really?" air that was hanging over them. 5 stars.
