This follows the antics of Finlay Donovan, inadvertent assassin for hire. I’m not going to give you the plot of this one in case you haven’t read the other two (and you do have to read them in order). Same characters with Finlay and her side kick Vero and handsome cop love interest Nick.

Rate: 3 stars - I loved book two, but this one didn’t have as much focus and it needs to wrap up. It didn’t … there will still be a book four and i think it’s too much.

Ever since I read the first Finlay Donovan, I have been obsessed with this world. The characters, the comedy, and the mystery (plus a side of romance) all pull me in and keeps me turning the pages. The third installment, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, is no different.

Reading this book felt like coming back to a family. You haven't seen them in awhile, but you always want to know what everyone is up to and what messes they've been cooking up. And let's be honest...we know Finaly and Vero are always in some trouble.

We find Finlay in debt to mob boss Feliks, even though he's behind bars. Her task? Identify a contract killer before the cops do. The only problem? The killer might be an officer themself.

Most of the book takes place at a citizen's police academy and I found myself cackling while reading so many of the scenes. I loved that we kept all the characters we love, but added some new ones in the mix. I usually don't read a ton of connected series where the timeline continues with the same characters, but this is one series that I will always pick up.

Now let me start off by saying zelle Cosimano is one of my absolute favorite authors… The Finlay Donovan series is one of my favs but this book didn’t do it for me. I missed all the outlandish chaos. I didn’t much care for the police training either.

Finlay Donovan is back and causing more trouble than ever. I will start by saying this is not a series where you can just pick up one out of order and understand what is going on. These are written more like a TV series with cliffhangers and weaving of story lines.

In the third book, Finlay and Vero go to a police boot camp run by Nick and the local police department in order to find out the contract killer who was using the Russian mob's chat room to scope out kills. Misunderstandings ensue, sexual tension is everywhere, and secrets are revealed.

I highly recommend this series to anyone. They are fast reads that you will enjoy and keep you guessing just as much as Finlay is.

I never expected a thriller series with as gimmicky a premise as “mother being mistaken as hitman” would have the longevity for a three book and counting series but here we are with Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. This feels like a return to form for the series because the shakiness of relationship between Finlay and Vero was resolved in the second book and they’re back to being a true chaotic duo.

Finlay and Vero’s banter is always going to be the selling point of this series, and with Vero’s backstory out of the way in the last book, this third one really just lets her be the ridiculous yet ride-or-die friend to Finlay that is so fun to watch. Throw in a healthy dose of Finlay’s elderly neighbor into the mix and I’m kind of sold on any kind of plot here.

The majority of this book taking place at a police academy training camp was a bit of an odd setup but it was an effective one for plenty of shenanigans. This series is always going to be one that demands setting aside any semblance of plausibility to enjoy. But it’s not one that does it in a blatantly obnoxious way and always recognizes the absurdity of Finlay’s accidental hitwoman antics and amateur sleuthing.

This third book is for fans of the series (obviously) but it’s especially going to resonant with fans of the tone of the first book in the series. I loved it, and am looking forward to whatever antics ensue in the next installment.

Thank you to the publisher Macmillan Audio for providing an audiobook ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

Amazing third installment! Please tell me there will be book four?! I need it BAD.

The adventures of Finlay and Vero are my favorite pastimes. The amount of danger and trouble these two always seem to wind up in leaves me in stitches from laughter. I was slightly disappointed that this one didn't give it's main focus on Vero's story like the second book led us to believe, but I was still thoroughly entertained.

I cannot get enough of this series, the author, and the laugh out loud writing that comes with it.

I normally do not read series. I find it just too hard to keep up with all the characters and to also wait for the next book to be published. That is not the case with Finlay Donovan. The characters are so well written and so funny.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano

Always a fun and fast read with this series! I look forward to seeing where Finlay goes from here. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this and leave my opinion.

This book was more interesting than the last one but a lot of the secrets felt too forced. I think this series could maybe have benefitted from one less book. As always the tension and the silliness were both on point and the location of this book added something that I haven't encountered before.

I love Finlay and Vero and will always be entertained by their antics. Unfortunately, this feels like it is dragging the series on a bit. I’ll keep reading, but I doesn’t feel as new and exciting as the first two.

Finlay and her escapades are back! Elle Cosimano's third foray into Finlay's world keeps getting better and better.

Finlay is still dealing with the repercussions of being confused as a hitman-for-hire, the accidental deaths of a few people, and avoiding the attentions of a Russian mobster all while juggling single motherhood, a sexy cop's interest, and a clueless ex-husband.

With the help from Vero - nanny, self-appointed accountant, and best friend -Finlay needs to find out who exactly put the hit out on her husband, and their suspicions lead them to a civilian police training camp.

What makes this formula work is Finlay and Vero's bond. Their friendship is more fleshed out, and they are each other's true ride-or-dies. Finlay's financial struggles are relatable as well as the amount of pressure that single motherhood places on her.

The story and scenarios are so preposterous, but seeing Finlay and Vero's affinity for sleuthing is a true highlight and worth the suspension of disbelief.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Finlay and Vero are getting into trouble, as always. This time they are at a citizen's police academy doing "research" for her upcoming novel while also dealing with the Russian mob. This book started off slow, but still entertaining as always. It's hard to believe how Finlay gets herself into these situations, but she does! Her and Vero's relationship is still going strong in this one and I love seeing them together!

I have loved the Finlay Donovan series and was so excited for this next book but instead I found this one a bit tricky to get through.

I don't want to say that nothing happened but it really felt like almost nothing. It felt like a filler book to be honest. Nothing was really resolved or opened.

I received this book as an ARC and this is my review. This story is hilarious and made me laugh-out-loud! This is the second book I have read by the author and she continues to hit the ball out of the ballpark! The situations are ridiculous but oh so funny! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good book full of comedy and colorful characters!

This is the sequel to Finlay Donovan is Killing It. Finlay is struggling to work on her next book-shocker there. Thankfully, the only dead body she is currently dealing with is just her daughter’s pet goldfish. However, someone want to kill her ex-husband. Will she be able to save him?

These books are definitely fun. They are hilarious and make you so engaged in the books since they are hilarious and mysterious. I really love the quirkiness of Finlay and I enjoy the personality of her live-in Nanny as well. Finlay’s ex-husband is definitely annoying and I hate that he was so stubborn to not want to heed Finlay’s warning about someone being out to get him and thinking it was Finlay just wanting to keep their children away from him. The ending to this book is satisfying. The mystery was hard to guess, which is something I like because I tend to guess them and it ruins books for me, but this didn’t. I totally recommend these books and they totally live up to the hype.

Elle Cosimano does it again. This series is so addictive. Finlay and Vero keep getting themselves in these crazy instances and they keep getting more ridiculous and you'd think after awhile the books would get ridiculous, but no, they suck you right in and you're on the edge of your seat wondering what insane thing will happen next. I hope this series never ends.

Finlay and Vero are back at it and this time they are signed up for a civilian police academy. That should keep them out of trouble, yeah right. It has them teamed up with Nick as one of their instructors and it should have them out of way of the mob and give Finlay time to sleuth and write at night but these two cannot stay out of trouble. I love this series and cannot wait for more! I have be thrilled to both read and listen to this edition and love the narrator and still have her in my head as I write this review.

Another satisfyingly hilarious installment in the Finlay Donovan series.

Finlay continues to find herself in a pickle, and this time it takes her to the citizen's police academy (which sounds super fun and I would love to do one like this!). Obviously things aren't going according to plan. Her ex-husband is still being sketchy, her dad has kidney stones so the kids end up at the academy, the car is giving them trouble and they are struggling to identify who Easyclean is.

More of Vero's secrets come out, which add to the mystery a bit as well. Finlay and Vero find themselves sneaking around (and out of) the police academy compound to attempt to identify all the players in this dangerous game they're playing.

If you like fun mysteries I highly recommend this series.

I always love the Finlay Donovan books. This one was no different. I like that they include humor in it along with the storyline.
