I loved being back with Finlay and Vero! This last installment was just so fun and I loved how everything came together at the end. As much as I love the series, I had to wait for audio for myself to listen to this one with the advanced copy. We finally get the resolution with Nick that I have been hoping for since book 1! I also love how the novel Finlay was writing played alongside this one - it was the perfect kind of inception for this reader. Overall, I liked this one better than the second and am so glad I got a chance to read an advanced copy.

Thank you St. Martin's Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I still need to read this. But I've heard it's good!

Finlay Donovan is at it again! Finlay is getting pressure from everyone: her nanny is dealing with financial issues, her editor is pressuring her into a new ending on her book, and the local mob boss is pushing her to find the name of another contract killer in the area...who just might be a cop. She'll have to go undercover again - this time at a citizen's police academy - to clean all of this up.

I love this book series and am so grateful to Netgalley and Minotaur for the e-ARC. While this wasn't my favorite of the bunch, I still found myself swept up in the craziness of Finlay and Vero's life. I thought the setting of this one was really interesting and fun and would have loved more about everything they were learning...because maybe it would come in handy in future books! As always, so much of the plot is over-the-top and I never know how the heck everyone gets away with everything, but that is what makes these books so fun.

I wish Steven would have been less present in this novel. Every character in these is a caricature, but he seems particularly annoying and unrealistic. I also found myself struggling to keep all the characters straight because so many people were introduced for only short periods of time. I'm sure it was to throw us off as readers, but I wish each character was more memorable so I could remember who was who!

I'll definitely keep reading this series though. It's too much fun to skip!

Finlay Donovan us still the hot mess that we've come to know and love. Finlay Donovan and Vero are a unique force unto themselves. I always think these books are utterly ridiculous and so unbelievable going in, but author Elle Cosimano creates a story that I get sucked right into. I roll my eyes, I sit on the edge of my seat, I laugh out loud, I read past my bedtime, and I love almost every second of it.

My take? It was another fun look into Finlay's disfunction, and I haven't given up on her yet.

This is the third book in the series and I have enjoyed each one. Lots of adventures and laugh out loud moments in this book. This would be a great summer beach read.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano was the third book in this series. I have been lucky enough to have read all three books and have enjoyed each one. Finlay and Vero along with many of the characters from the previous books were back and involved in multiple adventures, close calls and laugh out loud moments in this newest book. Elle Cosimano, brilliantly served up another twisty mystery that was both funny and thrilling. Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun was fast paced and so well written. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out how Finlay and Vero would get out of their messy situations or to find out what clues they would discover next as they tried to tie up loose ends as their allotted time was coming to an end. Join Finlay and Vero on this newest adventure as they barely escaped from the clutches of the mob, managed Felik’s orders he continued to dictate from jail, juggled the ever growing chemistry between Finlay and Nick, worked on revising Finlay’s newest book and hiding the murders Finlay and Vero were trying so desperately to hide. Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun was about family, loyalty, love, trust, ingenuity and toddler escapades that were absolutely hilarious. I can’t wait until Elle Cosimano writes the next book in this series. Finlay, Vero and all the characters were so relatable and believable. I really enjoyed reading Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun and recommend it very highly.

Thank you to Minotaur Books for allowing me to read Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano through Netgalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I just didn't love this. The first installment was so fun, but the subsequent books were not for me. I do think that part of my issue is that there were so many carry-over characters and I felt like I needed a guide to remember. Books in a series that come out a year apart should include a little more background as a refresher!

This is the third book in the adventurous mishaps of Finlay and her sidekick Vero. These women remind me so much of Lucy and Ethel. I’d love to see this as a series on TV.

Finley and Vero are trying to hide from the bad guys, and they end up in a police academy civilian training for a week. Only problem is they know there is a bad cop in their midst. Their mission is to find out who it is so they can break another case they are working on.

In the midst of their adventures, Finlay is dealing with her ex-husband who is anxious for a reconciliation and Vero is fighting (both literally and figuratively) romantic advances from her childhood friend Javi.

This is a fast-moving story with lots of action. I’ll admit, some of the antics are a bit outrageous, but this is a fun book to read that offers some thrills along the way.

Readers who enjoy this series will be pleased to know there is another book on the horizon.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books for allowing me to read an advance copy. I’m happy to offer my honest review and recommend this to other readers.

Finlay Donovan is at it again!

One of the things I love about Elle’s writing is that she manages to bring mystery and intrigue with a comedic edge that doesn’t seem too cliche or predictable.

I absolutely loved watching the classic antics between Finlay and Vero! The opening scene with Mo, and the whole scene with the, ahem… men’s appendage drawn on the stolen cop car? I was in stitches!

The lightheartedness was well balanced with the mystery, as I was introduced to red herring after red herring. When Easy Clean was finally revealed, my jaw was on the floor!

The twists! The turns! Just when you think all is finally well, something else happens which makes this book totally bingeable.

What a terrific third instalment to this hilarious and addictive series!

I love the world that Elle Cosimano has created with Finlay Donovan. This book series is just a fun read and so ridiculous that I end up reading with a smile on my face. You get funny moments, a few mysterious moments, a hair suspenseful and just enough real life to really connect with the characters. I will state that you do have to read the other books in order to fully understand the storyline. I always look forward to the situations that Finlay finds herself in every novel. It is really unbelievable that Finlay and Vero have not been arrested throughout these novels but the possibilities along the way help add to the fun of these books. I really liked the setting of this book and thought it was so hilarious that they were going undercover at the police academy as citizens to do a little research for her next novel, but really for a whole other reason. The additional characters we met added to the progress of the book. Honestly I think that Finlay and Vero are my favourite “criminal pair.” If you are looking for a fun light read I totally suggest you pick up this book series. I cannot wait to know what happens next with these two.

Thanks Netgalley and St. Martin's Press, for my ARC of Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun.

After reading all 3 Finlay Donovan books in the series, I can easily say how enjoyable it is! The dialogue between characters is great and I really feel like I’m visualizing everything that’s happening!

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano is a continuing comedy(?) series about a mystery writer and her roommate who keep getting in trouble with the mob, the police, a loan shark, and who knows who else. If a person this incompetent really existed, I wouldn’t want o be their next door neighbor, that’s for sure. Instead of just fessing up she goes from one extreme to the next, like instead of reporting a dead body to the police, she and her friend take and bury it, missing parts, of course, which she gives to her ex-husband to take care of for her. It all started with him, with someone trying to kill him, and now she and her friend, Vero (Veronica) are at a week-long citizen police academy because they are convinced the bad guy is a police officer and this is a good way to get close. Can they behave, even here? Even when she might be falling in love with one of the police officers? Not a chance.

Finlay is a good character, very well written and appealing. She is such a good character; she is endearing, as are Vero and her family and friends. Nick, the boyfriend-to-be, is hot as all get out, even limping around from a gunshot wound. Yep, you got it: Finlay. The plot is decent and it is amazing that Cosimano can continue to think up new scrapes for Finlay and Vero. Even the police officers have divergent personalities and parts of the story. It is entertaining. That’s for sure.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by St Martin’s Press, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #StMartinsPress #ElleCosimano #FinlayDonovanJumpsTheGun

3.5 stars rounded up

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced audio and ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I think this might be my last spin with Finlay and Vero. The first book was fun and new, book 2 was fine, now I feel like we are just dragging it on. The book was still entertaining but kind of felt like a lot of filler to get to the next part of the saga.

I LOVE the Finlay Donovan series, and decided to do a reread of the first two books leading up to the release of book 3.
If you’ve read the first two, book 3 picks up right where book 2 left off and continues the same outlandish and wild storylines. If you haven’t read the first two books, without giving too much away, this hilarious series follows Finlay Donovan, a romantic suspense author and divorced suburban mom who has somehow accidentally continued to be mistaken for an assassin for hire. She, along with her nanny/friend/”accountant” Vero, find themselves at the center of some pretty big mysteries and in the middle of some hilarious and dangerous situations. This book has it all - drama, mystery, suspense, laugh out loud moments, and even a bit of romance. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it.
Book 3 continues to live up to the hype and has all the things I adore about the first two books with the added bonus of giving us a bit more background into Vero’s life. I flew through this book in just one day because I needed to know what would happen next. The ending appears to set up book 4 and I cannot wait!
Thanks to Minotaur books and NetGalley for the advance copy!

"Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" is the latest addition to the popular Finlay Donovan series by Elle Cosimano. The series follows Finlay, an author and single mother, who along with her helper Vero, gets involved with the Russian mob. In this third installment, the Russian mob boss calls in his favor, asking Finlay and Vero to find a killer-for-hire named EasyClean before the police do.

To uncover the truth, Finlay and Vero enroll in a citizen's police academy led by Finlay's crush Nick. The duo tries to balance this task with Finlay's obligation to write a spicy novel for her editor. The story is filled with humorous twists and turns that keep the reader engaged from beginning to end.

Cosimano does an excellent job in creating over-the-top scenarios that are so much fun to read. The series is a perfect escape for those looking for a light-hearted, action-packed, and humorous read. The reader will find themselves rooting for Finlay and Vero in their journey to find EasyClean and to succeed in their personal endeavors.

The series has been so popular that there is already plans for a fourth book, and fans of the series will not be disappointed. If you're looking for a fun, cozy thriller, give the Finlay Donovan series a try.

Elle Cosimano does it again.

Finlay Donovan just can’t help but find herself in the middle of chaos…this time at a week long police department training workshop. As she’s trying to dodge the Russian mafia, find the assassin for hire, decide how she feels about a certain “hot cop”, her biggest challenge is writers block.

As usual a fun campy murder mystery with humor, irony, and a cast of characters that propel the story. Love this series and hope there will be more!!

My thanks to Minotaur books and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book.

Finlay and Vero are back in the third installment of this series, as Finlay figures out how to shake off her unwanted association with a Russian mob boss and Vero faces the trouble she left behind in Maryland. Their antics take them to the last place either of them should be - surrounded by law enforcement in a citizens police academy for the week.

Fans of the series will be happy to see our favorite duo in compromising circumstances yet again, complete with their quick wit and fierce loyalty to one another. Finlay also finds herself in close quarters with Nick, forcing her to confront what their relationship is.

Another fun ride with Finlay and Vero! Started off a little slow for me but really picked up in the middle. The citizens police academy idea was really unique and a fun setting for this book. Glad we got some answers but that it left it open for another book!

You will need to read the first 2 books in this series (Finlay Donovan is Killing it & Finlay Donovan Knocks' Em Dead) to understand the plot and relationships presented in this book.

Elle Cosimino is back with in Finlay Donovan book and this time it's time to take Finlay to school; Police Academy in fact:

Finlay seems to have even more on the line before. Felik, The mobster, is determined to use Finlay's pervious actions (or what her actions look like) against her and has told her she has to find out who Easy Clean and make sure they are silent. Finlay is convinced that Easy Clean is a dirty cop on Nick's team and what better way to figure it out than some one on one time with people on Nick's team at a Police Academy. But the more that Finlay and Vero get to know the officers on Nick's team there seems to be more than one possibility for who Easy Clean could be. They need to not only figure out who Easy Clean and "take care" of them, keep the bookies away from Vero, but Finlay needs to finish her latest book by deadline and one steamy scene seems to beyond her ability to write, oh and keep all her secrets intact from her sister and Nick. It's going to be one Hell of a week at the Police Academy.

This was a good book, but I do not think that this was as good as the previous two. As this is the third book in the series, things can get a bit stale as certain jokes or formula or scenarios that were once fresh and funny then to fall a bit flat. I also felt that the overall plot was muddied along the way, in that Cosimano was trying to do a bit too much in this book.

This book really had two things going for it, the Setting (Policy Academy) and Vera. Am I the only one who thinks that Vero needs to start having some chapters from her POV? Vera is just a fantastic character, I find most of the funny parts come from her and I just love her and the things that she ends up talking Finlay into.

I think the mob aspect has played itself out by now, I mean how long can Felik hold everything over her head and the amount of lies that Finlay continues to tell in order to keep her head above water. Everything has to come to a head sooner rather than later, though how the book ends (cliffhanger) I'm not sure that we are going to get there in the next book.
I'm happy that Finlay finally chooses which guy she wants to be with in this book, but part of me wonders how long that will last, I hope till the end, but for some reason I don't think so.

Although this was my least favourite book in the series, I still found the book enjoyable and some laugh out loud moments and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Enjoy!!!

This was my first Finlay Donovan book. I plan on going back and reading the others, but I think the author did a great job of giving small recaps of previous books so I didn't feel totally lost reading this book as my first foray into the series. I really enjoyed the relationship of Finlay and Vero, they were really funny and endearing together, and if you're going to do crimes might as well have a bestie doing them with you. The relationship between Nick and Finlay was nice, even with no prior knowledge from the other books, there was some really good chemistry between them. I thought the mystery portion of the book was good, although I will say that even though I didn't want to be able to just know who EasyClean was, I wish there had been a few more fingers pointed slightly at Stu so that it didn't come as such a shock that that's who it was. It felt kind of rushed there at the end when he gave his speech as to why he was doing it. Overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the entire series.
