I love the Finlay Donovan series -it’s so ridiculous, over the top, & fun! I was so excited when I was sent an ARC of the newest installment, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun! I pretty much dropped all of my reading plans to binge this one back in November and I don’t regret it.
Finlay is back & while I thought the second book was a little tooo ridiculous, this one toned it back the perfect amount. After the events of the second book, Finlay finds herself with an impossible task. With the Russian mob watching her every move, Donovan is attempting to hunt down a contract killer. But the task is almost impossible especially since she suspects it might just be a cop.
I loved the setting of this installment. A citizen’s police academy, where Finlay and Vero learn how to use guns and get into all sorts of mischief is my idea of a fun read. I love that we got a bit more romance this go around as well, and finally we get movement on the one relationship I know we’ve all been waiting for!
This was the first book that made me really question who Vero is and while I like her, she seemed way shadier this go around. I’m anxious to see what the next book will entail as this story set us up nicely to dive more into Vero’s story next.
These books are so outlandish and just plain fun. If you like stories about women who can’t stay out of trouble or you need a good laugh, you have to pick this one up! Also the audio books are super fun to listen too as well!

I adore the Finlay Donovan series and was thrilled to jump back in with book three!
Author and single mom Finlay Donovan and her nanny/friend/partner-in-crime Vero attend a citizen’s police academy run by Finlay’s hot cop love interest Nick in the midst of Finlay’s looming book deadline and mounting pressure for Vero to pay back a debt — while Russian mob boss Feliks is putting the heat on them to identify a contract killer before the cops.
Another fun and entertaining cozy mystery in a favorite series!
Thanks to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is scheduled for release on January 31, 2023.
Thank you @minotaur_books and @netgalley for the #gifted eARC of FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN!
Finlay and Vero are back for more absurd hijinks in the third installment of the Finlay Donovan series. These books are so fun and I now look forward to the new releases each January (partially because she leaves us on a cliffhanger each book!).
This series falls into the potato chip book 🥔 category for me. Zero brain nutritional value but so addicting and fun. 😆You do have to suspend your critical thinking brain because some of the things that happen are a bit ridiculous but if you just go with it, it’s a good time.
I also relate to Finlay more this time around as I’m also the mother of a very busy (and wild) toddler boy! 😅
FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN comes out 1/31!

I really enjoyed this third installment in the Finlay Donovan series! The hijinks were crazy and hilarious, and Finlay and Vero continue to be one of my favorite dynamic duo's. I would love to have a little more recap at the beginning of the books. It's been a year since I read book two, and I was little lost for the first few chapters of this one. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the story. The police academy was fun and fresh, and the villain reveal at the end of the book was a surprise. I look forward to the next book!

I love this series and has continued to keep me so entertained with each book that comes out. As usual, there were so many laugh out loud moments!
Thank you to Netgalley, St Martin’s Press and Minotaur Books for my e-ARC and Macmillan Audio for my audiobook. It comes out 1/31/23!

Finlay owes the Russian mob boss Feliks, and in return he wants her to find out the identity of the contract killer easy clean. They are suspecting he’s a dirty cop and fortunately, his hot cop friend Nick is running a citizen’s police academy. The dynamic duo Finlay and Vero are up to no good yet again by sleuthing, all the while keeping everything on the down low.
𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫/5. I have to say that this book might have dragged a bit in the beginning. It wasn’t quite as captivating as the first two, but as i drew closer to the end, the action kept rolling and the crazy scenarios that Finlay and Vero found themselves in were just so entertaining. The mystery definitely kept me intrigued and interested in the story. I was satisfied with the twist and how unpredictable it was. If you’ve read the first two, definitely give this one a whirl. It’s still worth the read and the humor is still definitely fantastic!

I enjoyed this third entry in the Finlay Donovan series - it is funny, builds on the Finlay-Vero friendship, and is replete with humourous escapades that Finlay and Vero find themselves in. There is also the growing of the Finlay-Nick relationship (😍). I liked this one better than the second and it is clear there will be a fourth from the plot points left hanging at the end of this novel. Very entertaining and an easy, fast-paced read.
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
The third book in this series, it starts where the last left off (well kind of. This actually starts with a very funny bathroom scene). Finlay and Vero are back again trying to find EZ Clean before the cops do to keep mob boss Feliks from killing them. It’s another action packed book filled with humor with this duo.
I love the combination of unintentional hit woman and single mom/author trying to do the right thing and getting herself wrapped up in the worst possible scenarios. It’s a great series to read and pick up anytime you need something fun and fast. I look forward to the next installment (fingers crossed there will be another)!
Many thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for this early copy and also @macmillan.audio for an early audio. For those that listened to audio with the first and second books, it’s the same narrator and was well done once again. I was able to go back and forth with my kindle and audio and love doing that for books I don’t want to put down!
Be sure to grab this book next week— release day is 1.31.23!
A fantastic addition to this fun series! In Finlay Donovation Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano we’re immediately thrust back into Finlay and Vero's vivid, precarious world. I love the snark and light-hearted tone of this series and found this to be just as enjoyable as the two previous books. Though some of the antics are a little far-fetched, it's such a fun ride with action, mystery, and romance. The action and characters keep me intrigued as I listen. Angela Dawe is a pitch-perfect narrator for Finlay and other characters. The audiobooks for this series are so fun!
Thank you Minotaur Books / Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for providing this ebook / audiobook ARC. All thoughts are my own.
I adored this third installment to the Finlay series. #FinlayForever I will read anything by this author because her characters are so real to me. Definitely recommend if you love mysteries!
The biggest thank you to @minotaur_books for my ARC!
Finlay and Vero are back y'all and they are better than ever! I had an instant smile on my face from page one because I had no idea what these two would get into next, but I knew that I would be entertained the entire time.
Here's the thing with these books - know matter what they are doing and how unrealistic I know it to be it doesn't matter to me. I love these two characters so much. There is no better duo and no better friendship than what these two are and share!
And speaking of realistic, I actually felt this book was the most realistic of them all? I loved the police academy setting! We got more of Nick and Fin. We even got a glimpse at Mrs. Haggerty (which I actually loved).
This book was funny, kept me turning the pages, and has made me so excited for *hopefully* another installment where we get to know Vero more 🤞🏼
This one comes out 1/31, so go ahead and pre-order it now!
4 ⭐️
Finlay, Finlay, Finlay! This read was so much fun! For all you fans of Finlay, this is the 3rd in the series. I am not typically a lover of series books, but Finlay has quickly become my fav. While Finlay is forever finding herself in a mess, Jumps the Gun is highly unbelievable. This one was a little forced for me. Almost like that too tight pair of jeans you so desperately want to fit, but they won't button. Finlay is undoubtedly a superb character, but I'd stick with the first two in this series.
I loved this book from page 1. The opening scene had me cracking up. Finlay and Vero have a Thelma and Louis type relationship. They are so good together. And Nick, what can I say. It was left open at the end so I can't wait for the next adventure. This needs to be on the small screen.
Elle Cosimano does it again! I seriously cannot get enough of this series.
This book was just as fun as the first two. Finlay and Vero are the perfect duo. Vero is my spirit animal.
And that cliffhanger? Cannot wait til the 4th installment!
I have mixed feelings about this book. I was so excited to read it as I loved the first two, and the premise sounded fun, but 20% in, I didn't find it as engaging as the other two, and I didn't feel like picking it up :( Maybe it was the setting that restricted the action, but it didn't feel as exciting as the previous book, less action packed. Still, I love the humour in this series and this 3rd book doesn't disappoint there. Also, Vero is also growing on me and I cannot wait to see how her story arc will develop.
The third installment of Finlay and Vero’s hijinks is just as much fun as the previous ones. I think I have used the word “hijinks” in each of my reviews for this series - but it’s just the perfect word to describe the slightly over-the-top situations that the two women fall into! The first book, Finlay Donovan is Killing It, is still my favorite of the series, but this one is a close second. If you haven’t checked this series out yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for - unless you’re waiting for next Tuesday 1/31 when this one will be available! Thank you to Minotaur and NetGalley for the ARC - all opinions are my own.
This series goes farther into the camp-factor with each installment. I love the conceit of a romantic suspense author being trapped in a romantic suspense story, using her current circumstance to write her romantic suspense novel, and the ties between the side characters that becomes more absurd with each story. I'll keep coming back to see how Finlay is able to eventually get herself out of this mess, and how Vero's past indiscretions get resolved.
Finlay and Vero are back at it again. How these two find themselves in the situations they do is beyond me, but honestly I love it and I love the duo even more. They sure know how to make me laugh and keep me on my toes. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite of the series though, I still found it to be very entertaining. I mean that opening scene with a toddler and an occupied bathroom stall, freaking hilarious because if you're a mom like me I'm sure you've got a public bathroom story involving your toddler. My only qualm about the book is it felt repetitive, like we've been through it before, but again I didn't find myself bored at all. Just, felt like I almost knew what to expect. If you've read book two, you know about EasyClean, here in book three that person is back and Finlay and Vero are trying to determine who this person is but racing against the clock to do so. They think they may know, but Feliks, the Russian Mob Boss, aint playing. So to protect themselves, but also look for Easy Clean (who they think might be a cop) they join a civilian police academy, which happens to have been started by Nick (swoon). They gain all sorts of knowledge there that will come in handy eventually. What ensues is your typical Finlay and Vero shenanigans that we all know and love.
This is an easy read and based on the ending, I do believe we will be getting book four and because I am a fan of Finlay and Vero, I will be reading that one too.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the third book in the Finlay Donovan series.
This time, Finlay and Vero are off to a community police academy for a week - Finlay to hopefully determine who the dirty cop is and Vero to hide from someone in her past.
While I didn’t like it as much as the first two, I did enjoy. This installment gets off to a slower start than the previous two, and when there finally is some action it all seems to come at once.
This book did leave you with a set up to a fourth book. I will say that you do need to read these books in order as the cases build on one another.
Thank you to the publisher and author for the advanced audio and ebook copies in exchange for my honest review. Once again, the audio is wonderful.
Finlay is back!
Elle Cosimano has my heart...as do all of these characters. It is refreshing seeing their trademark antics show up on the page. The characters are what sell me on all of these books. Of course, I relate to Finlay in a few ways, but her best friend, Vero will be my forever favorite in this series. For many years, I devoured the Stephanie Plum books, and these remind me of that series as well. There's humor and antics with heart and...a hot cop.
The third installment is such a great time and I'm looking forward to more from these characters!
This is one of those books where you are really sad it ended and already looking for the next book. I love the two main characters and the ridiculous situations they end up in. I love the humor in the book and the sass. The whole series is great. I also really enjoy listening to the audio version. The narrator does a fantastic job.
