Finlay is, once again, in a pickle, when her and Vero, her accomplice, destroy a luxury car and the Russian mob pays to replace it: now she owes them. Feliks asks her to find who EasyClean, a contract killer, is, before the cops.
This mystery on the cozy side is book 3 in the Finlay Donovan series. It's a fun read, with lol moments. I loved to see Finlay's adventures with Vero. You truly have to suspend disbelief, as it is sometimes way over the top, and there are a lot of coincidences, but I gladly did for this one. I loved the side characters, there is a lot of action, and beware that it ends with a cliffhanger. I liked this one, but the first book of the series was still my favorite.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thanks, NetGalley,

I don't know what it is about Finlay and Vero but I can't get enough of them. Their relationship is really what makes this series work. We all have a ride-or-die/partner-in-crime best friend that would literally help you hide a body and that is what makes this book so great...Also because the bodies keep piling up. I love how they are trying to constantly get out of trouble and end up in more bad situations. I had no clue who EasyClean which is always a bonus when reading a mystery. I tagged this as a cozy novel because there are discussions of intimacy but it is never described in detail just hinted at in funny ways such as having dessert. If you haven't read this book do it!

When Finlay and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero accidentally destroyed a luxury car that they had "borrowed" in the process of saving the life of Finlay's ex-husband, the Russian mob did her a favor and bought the car for her. And now Finlay owes them.

Mob boss Feliks is still running the show from behind bars, and he has a task for Finlay: find and identify a contract killer before the cops do. The problem is, the killer might be an officer themself.

Luckily, hot cop Nick has just been tasked with starting up a citizen's police academy, and combined pressure from Finlay's looming book deadline and Feliks is enough to convince Finlay and Vero to get involved. Through firearm training and forensic classes (and some hands-on research with a tempting detective), Finlay and Vero use their time in the police academy to sleuth out the real contract killer to free themselves from the mob's clutches―all the while dodging spies, confronting Vero's past, and juggling the daily trials of parenthood.

Another fabulous, fun, and unputdownable book in the Finlay series. The second I finished this one I wanted to read the next! I can't wait!

Unfortunately, "Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" doesn't meet with standard set by its predecessors. The plot dragged, Finlay and Vero's usual hijinks were contrived and inconsistent, and subplots were added leaving lots of loose ends.

I anxiously await the fourth edition.

I am a big fan of the Finlay Donovan series! This third installment of the series seemed to bog down a little for me in the middle. Maybe I was a little tired of some of the characters. I’m happy that it picked up toward the end, and I am looking forward to reading more about the adventures of Finlay and Vero.

Finlay is back in action! She's still trying to figure out exactly who tried to kill her husband while dodging the Russian mob. She and Vero go "undercover" to a civilian cop academy to try and locate EasyClean, who they are sure is part of their local police force. But while at the academy, can Findlay juggle investigating, her ex, her kids, AND the hot cop?

I can't lie, the first Findlay book was just amazing--I lived in the Fairfax county area in 2008-2009, so recognizing some of the landmarks was a lot of fun. Add in dabbling in writing and 2 kids of my own, and I could practically *be* Findlay...well, except my husband isn't a cheating slime. Anyway, enter the Russian mob. And I just...don't like this aspect of the Findlay Donovan books. I keep hoping that the next book will wrap up her involvement with them, but no, she just keeps getting in deeper and deeper. It's just not for me. I thought this series was going to be lighthearted capers (Findlay literally kills no one in book 1 yet everyone keeps dying in strange turns of events and I was just LIVING for it), ex drama, new relationship drama, roommate drama. You know, fun cozy mystery hijinks. But the Russian mob just...isn't lighthearted fun.

Will I keep reading the series? Probably, Findlay and Vero as characters are a lot of fun to read about. I'll just continue to be salty about the Russian mob..

I love this series! This book was just as good as the first two. Finlay's life is, of course, chaotic. But I believe she loves her life that way and doesn't want to change it. The triangle, or quad if you count Stephen, has been put to rest! I can't wait for the next book.

First, thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book! Finlay and Vero are at it again on another adventure in this hilarious 3rd installment in this series. I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series and I really liked this one as well! The unique setting at the citizen’s police academy in this one was a fun change of pace where they are trying to look for a contract killer who could very well be a cop!

Fin and Vero are still getting themselves into messes and I just love their friendship. I also really enjoyed the introduction to new characters in this one. The chaos was there along with more of the tension and slowburn with Nick the cop and I love that each book leaves you with a cliffhanger for the next one. I’m curious to see how this series continues and I was definitely surprised how this one played out in the end! The twists were surprising and there were so many suspicious characters.

This one was full of adventure, crazy shenanigans, and is laugh-out-loud funny! Finlay is such a fun character and the humor is a breath of fresh air for the reading world! I really enjoyed reading it.

I love Finlay and Vero, and I am firmly invested in both of their adventures. Still mostly improbable and ridiculous at times, but fun and fast-paced. I loved the setting for most of the book and all my favorite characters were back. This book is the third in the series, and I"m not ready for it to end, so please keep giving us more Finlay. I still need many more answers, and much more resolution for Finlay's love life.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced reader's copy.

WOW! This is was such a fun read! I loved it as I do the entire series. The friendships are adorable, the love stories are relatable and romantic and the mystery will keep you on your toes. Just when you think you know what's going to happened, the plot twist, suspense and the unexpected pop up. This hilarious read was so funny and clever, I could not help but fall in love with this novel. Recommend 100%.

Just when you think this series can't get any better, Elle Cosimano proves you wrong!

If I ever found myself in a tricky situation there is truly no one l would trust more to handle it than Finlay and Vero. I find my stress levels over the possibility of the two of them getting caught rises more and more as their story progresses. I'm so excited to see where the rest of their story takes us! I've never laughed so hard reading a murder mystery before!

Can't wait for this book to come out so l can stop gatekeeping it from my mom who loves these books more than me... If that's possible.

The third in the Finlay Donovan series and it was quite enjoyable for a escape read. We have our same characters (and yes, Steven is still his annoying self) and their shenanigans- many of them unbelievable. However, this is meant to be a funny read with a bit of stooge type antics. This did not disappoint in both realms. Thanks to NetGalley for the advance read.

Another five star Finlay Donovan in my book! Elle Cosimano, you are a genius😍I absolutely love this series and devoured this book. Finlay Donovan is back again with another hilarious and wild adventure. This time, at a citizen’s police academy. Cannot wait for the next book!

Finlay and Vero take on another adventure and get caught up in crime, passion, and ridiculousness.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and while I liked this one, it didn’t blow me away like the others. It was still a fun and enjoyable read, but was missing some of the kick that the first two brought – it was a bit slower paced and didn’t engage me quite as much. I suggest you read the first two in the series before this one, as you will miss some context if you read as a standalone.

Thanks to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Elle Cosimano does it again! I always think there’s no way Finlay can get herself into the same type of predicament and she does. And in a believable way too. These books are fun, hysterical, and gripping. I hope for more in this series in the future.

It was a cool concept Finlay and Vero at the police academy doing a training with the public but it just felt so drawn out and a little much. The plot just felt like it took forever to find out who “easyclean” was and felt dragged to me. There were some funny parts sprinkled in that made me laugh and the beginning before they both went into the academy training I enjoyed a lot. The book ended on a cliff hanger which definitely indicates they’ll be a fourth but this was probably my least favorite of the series! A fun mystery but just felt like it missed its mark a little.

Jumps the Gun is exactly what I would expect from a Finlay Donovan novel. It’s funny, cozy and quirky. The characters I’ve come to know and love are still around getting into trouble in the most ridiculous way but what kept this from being a five star read is that the characters felt stagnant. They’re there but they’re not developing and I thought the author could have gone further with them. The concept of the Citizens Academy was a little too easy but it got the job done. I really enjoyed the progress Finlay and Nick made and look forward to see how that progresses in the next book.

Overall I liked the book because I like the series and I am emotionally connected with the characters. If this is someone’s first Finlay novel I think there will be struggle.

The book left with a cliffhanger so I’ll definitely be looking for the fourth installment from Atlantic City!

Thank you to NetGalley, Minotaur Books & Macmillan Audio for access to both the physical and audiobook arcs!

Elle Cosimano does it again! I just love this series so much - she manages to make Finlay and Vero’s exploits continue to feel fresh, interesting and surprising even still at three books in. (And it was fun to watch the “cop” storyline - ahem - continue to progress in the background of this installment!) As always, the audio is spectacular, and it was just so fun to be back in this world. Five stars for pure enjoyment and how much I love this series.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for both an e-galley and an ALC to listen and review!

Oh. My. God. Cosimano has once again started my year off right with the third installment in my favorite cozy series. No matter what the year brings, I know if there’s a new Finlay book it’s going to be a good one. The pacing of this one was absolute fantastic, the characters were hilarious as always, and I loved the romance subplot starting to grow!

This is the third in the series and another winner. I wouldn’t have minded a little more chaos and steam. This series is a fun way to read suspenseful mystery. I loved that the author left it on a cliffhanger making the reader believe there will be a 4th book. I’m so happy I got the arc!

Finlay and Vero are back! This is a continuation of the 2nd book. Finlay has limited to find the Cleaner or a mob boss is going to end her. Vero is trying to figure out how to repay a massive debt. Both leads them to a police academy civilian retreat where Finlay tries to hold back her feelings for hot cop Nick, get research for her book, and try to find the dirty cop that is the Cleaner. Vero is along for the ride always having Finlays back and encouraging trouble to get answers. All while fighting her feelings for childhood friend Javi.
Read this to find out if they find the Cleaner! What kind of trouble do Finlay and Vero get into?
