I absolutely fell in love with the whole Finlay Donovan series and read all 3 in only a few days. They remind me a bit of the Shopaholic series mixed with the Stephanie Plum series. They're funny, but also have serious themes running throughout. I can't wait for the next installment in this series!
Finlay Donovan has found her and her friend/nanny/"accountant" at a civilian police camp. One week where they will train and act like cops. This would be great, if they didn't have to keep a low profile so nobody could pin their previous crimes on them. While they're at the retreat, chaos ensues. From the mafia kingpin trying to track them down to some possible romantic entanglements, not to mention still trying to deal with her ex-husband and children.
Laugh out loud funny. Would totally recommend.
Love this series and all of the shenanigans Finlay gets into. Set at a police training camp, this has the right amount of fun, romance, and mystery to keep you entertained.
I really enjoyed the third installment in the Finlay Donovan series! I love the character dynamics between Finlay and her nanny Vero, they are like Thelma and Louise (without the cliff). Super fun, I also enjoyed the bulk of the novel being set at a police training academy, there were lots of opportunities for near-misses and double-crossing. The ending was a surprise too, and made me excited for Book 4! There was a little bit of spice, closed-door.
FINLAY DONOVAN I love you, and I love Elle Cosimono for creating this hilarious, lovable series. These books are so much fun to read! I loved how much of Vero we got in this one - I love her and I love this dynamic duo. I definitely recommend this series!!!
Finlay Donovan might be one of my favorite fictional heroines. The story continues with book three in this series and the plot is just a ridiculous in the best ways. I laughed out loud so much while reading this one. The first book in the series was my favorite but number 3 lived up to my expectations. Love the authors writing style and how fast and easy her books are too read.
Thank you for the gifted book Macmillan Audio. All opinions are my own.
Finlay and Vero are in deep with the mob after they did her a favor in saving her ex-husband from the hit out on his life. Seeking safety and a way to do some sleuthing, they enroll in a citizen's police academy run by hot cop Nick. Finlay is just trying to keep her head above water as she wades through all her responsibilities of managing her kids, a book deadline, and her less than legal after dark activities. This 3rd book in the series takes you on a whole new adventure.
I love how Cosimano throws a new setting into the series in this book with the police academy. It added a closed room mystery vibe while also not excluding the circumstances and characters of the previous two books. I loved the summer campy vibe and how it continued the plot of the drama of the other books. It once again wrapped up the story enough to satisfy us, but also left me salivating for book 4!
Every book in this series so far is amazing. There isn't anything I don't love. It's funny, saucy and just brightens my day each time I dive in. The way this one ended??!! I need the next book ASAP.
If you haven't tried this series yet what are you waiting for? I swear I hear Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph in my head when I'm reading these books. 😂😂
I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is Elle Cosimano's third book in her Finlay Donovan series. I found this book to be just okay - I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the first two - but with that being said - I typically lose interest in series over time (not just this one) I do enjoy Finlay and Vero - they make for a fun book - and these books are great for when you need a fun, light read. I read a lot of mystery, thriller, etc and some of them can be a bit dark but sometimes you just want a quick read with quirky fun characters and this series fits that bill! Thank you for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review - I did end up purchasing the audiobook and it is very well narrated,
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the third book in this series and I can honestly say, I have enjoyed each one! Finlay is a perfectly realistic character, filled with equal parts determination, humor and flaws. The 'just a touch' hint of romance and humorous antics Finlay gets into is a PERFECT mix for the thrilling mystery Finlay tries to figure out. Vero is the perfect side character and probably my favorite character period, to be honest. I loved learning more about Vero's history in this book. Overall word for Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun - PERFECT.
I absolutely love this series! Finlay is hilarious and I can’t get enough of her shenanigans! This is the perfect balance of mystery, comedy, and romance. I got my parents to read this series and they also love it.
I have been loving the Finlay Donovan series and this book was no exception. The story is both hilarious and tense, sexy and heartwarming, ridiculous while keeping me on the edge of my seat.
My only qualms about this one is that, at this point, the twists and turns and unlikely events are feeling excessive and sometimes drawn out. One book was fun, two was a good story, three is starting to feel a bit much, and there’s a 4th on the way! I’m shocked by that but also excited, because I’m invested in the story and i want to see where it ends. I’m just starting to feel like it needs to end before this becomes too dragged out.
Finlay and Vero are back!! I honestly think they are my favourite duo, what can’t they accomplish together?
“Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun” is the third book in the series and a great continuation of the story. I was sucked in and had a hard time putting it down. I truly love this world that Elle Cosimano has created and I am so excited that there is more to come! 🩵
I don’t want to talk too much about the plot so I don’t give anything away for anyone who hasn’t started the series, but I would happily bet that if you haven’t read it yet, you must and you will LOVE it! These books are fun murder mysteries with such likeable characters and unique plots!
This is probably my least favorite in the series just because it is so unrealistic. Finlay had unrealistic moments in the other novels, but this one was just over the top. I had to take a break from reading this and read another book before trying again. After I got back into Finlay, it did become more engaging. However, I think Feliks needs to be done with and Finlay should have a new “accidental murder” plot line to follow. I did like the ending of this book, and I really enjoyed Nick this time. This book also really explores a lot of the cop characters more in depth. I still give it a 4 because I liked the character development and the ending at the police academy. I am excited for the next book in the series.
This series really started out strong! Unfortunately, my interest and the entertainment level waned with each book. The characters just didn't feel as interesting, and the story fell flat with this one.
And we are back for the third installment of outlandish adventures of Finlay and Vero!!! This duo cracks me up as they cannot seem to keep their noses clean no matter how hard they try!! Be sure to enjoy this one before #4 comes out!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED the first finlay-- liked the second one a lot less and this one was just a little bit of a bummer. I think I've burned myself out on it. I'm sure everyone else will love this one but it's not for me.
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the next installment (#3) in the Finlay Donovan series. I enjoyed reading this book as Finlay tracks down the identity of a killer who goes by EasyClean. It's a "light" book with lots of laughs thrown in the mix. Definitely check it out if you've read the previous two books!
I love this series and huge fan of Fi Kay as a character. Each book is outlandish but super entertaining.
This third installment of the Finlay Donovan series was my favorite so far. I absolutely love this series and all the characters.
I’m pretty sure Vero is my favorite as she has such a great personality and her humor is on point with mine. I loved how this one dealt deeper into her past and exposed a softer side to her that hasn’t completely been seen in the other two books.
This time Finlay and Vero find themselves at a newly developed Citizens Police Academy all under the ruse of more book research. Tensions are high and plenty of action and hijinks ensue as these two just try and make it thru the week.
Thank you to netgalley and Minotaur books for this gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
"Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" is the third in Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan series. I've enjoyed each book in this series, and the third was no exception. Like the previous books, this one had a lot of hijinks, adventure, humor, and romance. It requires a lot of suspension of disbelief, but for me, the characters are engaging enough that I don't mind going on a wild (sometimes unrealistically whacky) ride with Finlay, Vero, Nick, Georgia, and other returning characters.
