Like the other books in this series, this book was hilarious! I enjoyed it just as much as the two that came before it, and I couldn’t put it down. As always, the end left me wanting more. I’m so glad that I had an opportunity to read this one early.

Minivan mom turns accidental hitwoman. This series is *chef’s kiss* 🤌. Cosimano had me cackling out loud from the opening scene in this one 😂. The laughs kept on coming while buddy reading with @daniallreads 🥰!

After the antics in book 2, Finlay and Vero are in debt to Russian mob boss, Feliks. Now it’s time to pay up. Feliks wants Finlay to find a contract killer named EasyClean. The killer might even be a dirty cop. Finlay and Vero sign up for the citizen’s police academy, where they get firearm and forensic training while trying to find said dirty cop. It just so happens that Finlay’s love interest, hot cop Nick, is running the academy. Will Finlay be able to escape the clutches of the Russian mob? Will she finally follow her heart and get together with Nick?

This book has hilarity and shenanigans paired with danger and twists just like the first two. There’s also lots of will-they-won’t-they chemistry. While the storyline has closure, there are plenty of loose ends that I’m sure will be tied up in another Finlay installment!

Elle Cosimano has done it again! Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is fast paced and very enjoyable. The friendship between Finlay and Vero is one of my favorite parts of this series. They are always getting in a little over their heads and it makes for a suspenseful read. I can not wait for the hard copies to be released so I can add this book to my library. Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this advanced copy

Elle Cosimano does it again!

I loved this installment of Finlay even more than the second. We got more Nick which I'm definitely not mad about, and the setting of the police academy was fun and fresh.

All the fun of Finlay and Vero was there in spades and it was fun to finally have a love interest for Vero!

I don't think I'll ever want to stop reading these novels, they are compulsively readable and always leave me wanting more. A must read!

This book was an amazing read that I enjoyed from beginning to end. It moves along at a pace that makes for a relaxing read, has interesting characters that you cannot help but love and a story that will not disappoint and keep you reading until the end. This book needs to be read and on your TBR list, you will not be sorry that you did.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC

This series is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. Every year I look forward to a new Finlay Donovan adventure and Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun does not disappoint. Taking place right after the previous book, we once again join Finlay and Vero as they try to get their lives back on track. But when you have annoying ex-husbands, blackmailing mafioso, and sexy detectives swirling around, it is difficult to stay on the straight and narrow. I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants a quirky mystery with lots of humor. I give this book 5/5 stars.

Finlay and Vero are back at it again- and by at it I mean being mistaken for contract killers. Mob boss Feliks has asked them to find out who the contract killer targeting Finlay’s ex-husband is… and they have reason to suspect that the person they’re looking for is a police officer. Finlay and Vero attend a citizen training camp put on by the police force to investigate the trainers.

This was sadly not my favourite Finlay Donovan book. I was missing the humour and hilarious escapades from the previous two books. However, I did really enjoy the character development of Mrs Haggerty in this book.

This was still an enjoyable read and I would recommend if you liked the first two books but I’m hoping the humour from the first two books shows back up in the fourth!

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the advanced reading copy!

I have a love hate relationship with this series. I LOVED the first one. I didn’t really like the second one. But I liked this one. Do I like Elle Cosimano’s writing a lot. I hope that this is the last book in the series though. I felt like it tied everything up. And honestly if there are more books in the series I don’t think I will read them. But I liked this one. Do you need to read the other two before reading this one. But overall I thought this was a solid series.

Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan is one of my absolute favorites! This is the third in the series and was just as good as the others. FInlay and Veros are the modern day Thelma and Louise and their time at the academy was just as entertaining. What better way to "research for her next novel" than at a citizens police academy. Finlay's over the top antics were as entertaining as ever.

The third installment in the Finlay Donovan series. A hilarious ride of criminal mishaps, that all together seem unrealistic but the read can't help but suspend their disbelief. That is the charm and likability of Finlay Donovan.

Finally and her reliable nanny/accountant,Vero, are still trying to tie up the loose ends from book 2. In an effort to suss out who the contract killer who attempted to take down Finlay's ex-husband, while also seeing where her romance with Nick might go, Finlay agrees to spend a week at a citizens police academy. Vero has her own reasons for hiding out at the weeklong event. Amidst all the chaos, the underlying theme of friendship between Finlay and Vero remains strong, and this is one of my favorite parts of these books.

Will there be a book 4? I've got my money on Atlantic City.

I was so checked out while reading this... I just couldn't connect with it at all.

I just adored the first book in this series and didn't love the second book as much, but sadly, I just could not connect with FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN at all. I listened to the audiobook (thank you to Macmillan audio for the Netgalley approval!) and this book just scrolled past my ears. I tried so hard to get into it but I feel like nothing really happened to capture my attention in this one.

I started to lose just a touch of interest in the last book but I feel like FDJTG just really didn't have much development to really grab me. I felt like it was starting to push into Stephanie Plum territory where there's just a lot of hijinks, some romance, and very little character or plot development. We're starting to push into things being silly and funny for the sake of comedy and it's losing its hold in the real world, causing me to start suspending (even more) disbelief which I wasn't really ready to do with this series.

The whole thing with the civilian's police academy was... boring? Forced? Unrealistic? All of the above? No idea if a thing like this really exists but it felt way too forced and I just couldn't find myself caring about what happened there because it felt like it didn't matter. I felt like there was not enough going on in some parts and too much going on in others. There were too many characters that meant nothing to the book that I just wasn't even paying attention when it came to the important ones and the ending was a little chaotic for me.

I was so excited to read this, thinking it would be a nice, cute, easy post-holiday read but instead I just felt knocked around by it. Finlay Donovan fans may still love it! I just didn't connect with the writing style and choices in this one. Not sure yet if I'll continue on and read the 4th book. After feeling like this, it may be doubtful. I'm already invested in 29 Stephanie Plum novels and probably don't need another series like it if it's going to keep being silly.

Thanks NetGalley and Minotaur books for the ARC!

FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN was just as entertaining as the first two in this series.. I’m a huge fan of this series. I absolutely love the silliness of these books— it’s so much less about the mystery for me and more the banter and antics of Finlay and Vero. I love them so much. 😂 This book had more action in the mystery department and less attempts at romance, which I was glad about. I liked this better than book 2, but I’m not sure any subsequent book could take the number one spot from book 1. The ending set us up perfectly for the next book in the series and I can’t wait to read it!

Dare I say but this must be the best Finlay story to date! Just when you think Finlay and Vero can’t get into any more trouble they go and get themselves deeper into the hole they’ve dug for themselves. With a few people out looking for them where’s the best place to hide? How about citizens police academy surrounded by a bunch of cop and one who might be EasyClean. While Finlay is trying to work out who EasyClean is, she’s also trying to figure out what Steven is up too, rewrite some scenes in her new book, and figure out where she and Hot Cop aka Detective Nick stand after Christmas.

I read this book in a day because I couldn’t put it down and I just had to know what Finlay and Vero were up too. I can’t wait to see what happens next especially after their ride home from citizens police academy.

Thank you @minotaurbooks and @ellecosimano for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

What more can I say then you absolutely have to read this one and the rest in the series! I Love Finlay and the books always make me laugh but are also so engrossing at the same time. Pick it up - you won't regret it. Cannot wait for the next one (I hope there is one!!)

Finlay & Vero’s adventures continue in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun! Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur Books for my advanced digital copy!

This book picks up where Knocks ‘Em Dead left off, with Finlay and Vero trying to repay a favor to Feliks, the Russian mob boss. From behind bars, he gives them two weeks to figure out EasyClean’s identity. Since EasyClean is likely an undercover cop, they jump on an opportunity to attend police academy “camp” where they can get closer to and maybe even question their suspects. The rest of the book is full of Finlay and Vero's shenanigans as they try to solve the mystery and per usual, find themselves in even more trouble than when they started.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun was action-packed and hilarious! Once again, we’re left with a cliff-hanger, suggesting there will be a 4th book. My only complaint is that I wish this book would have wrapped it up. I have LOVED this series, but it’s starting to feel like Finlay’s story is getting dragged out too long. There’s only so much trouble these two can get into, right?!

That being said, this series is so much fun and I highly recommend it, but go into this one knowing that you won’t have all the answers yet!

3.5/5 Finlay Donovan and her sidekick Vero are back in the third installment of this series. I have read the other two books in this series, and though you don't have to, I recommend it. The duo are attempting to find the identity of EasyClean, who everyone thinks is a police officer. They head to civilian police academy with characters we have gotten to know in the previous book like Nick and Georgia. Of course, hijinks ensues and there are some swoon worthy Finlay and Nick moments.

I enjoyed the antics in this book, as usual. Vero and Finlay are up to mischief and there is a lot of drama. The characters continue to be well developed and are people that we root for, even when they are making questionable choices. I also love the bit of romance that happened and hope that Finlay's choice isn't a waffling back and forth. I really liked Finlay's vulnerability in this book too. She talked a lot about her feelings of worth and desirability.

I did find that some of the book dragged out, but enjoyed myself none-the-less. It wasn't my favourite so far in the series, but it has me looking forward to the next book in this series. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun
(Finlay Donovan #3)
By: Elle Cosimano

Book & eARC Review
Publish Date: January 31, 2023

In book 3 of the Finlay Donovan series, Finlay and Vero are back in action working against (and for - iykyk) the Russian mob.

On the hunt for contract killer EasyClean, the duo are off to civilian police academy, suspecting that he or she might be part of the police force. At the academy, the two learn about firearms, evading pursuers, and finding suspects. And yes, this training does end up coming in handy!

——
This was another fun installment in the FD series! Book #1 is still my favorite, but I am continuing to love this series. They are not your typical mysteries, and each book has had its own fun and games.

I do hope to see more of Nick and Finlay in the coming book(s)!

Thank you St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

You guys know I am a sucker for Elle Cosimano's "Finlay Donovan" series.

I hate to be the one who hypes a book up but this one is the best Finlay adventure yet.

Hands down, this is my favorite book in the series.

The plot. The setting. The twists. The adventure. The unlikely partnerships. The laughs.

It has all the hijinks that Finlay and Vero stumble into with the added hilarious antidotes.

Speaking of tensions. No spoils but the sexual tension. It burns DEEP in this one.

I cannot wait for you guys to experience the romance! You guys won't look at biscuits the same way again!

Elle Cosimano makes reading fun and relaxing for me. Her "Finlay Donovan" series truly gives me a sense of home when I dive into them.

I can't wait for everyone to read this next book in the series. "Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun" comes out on January 31st! Be sure to run to your local bookstore to pick up your copy immediately!

Thank you Elle Cosimano, NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the advanced reader copy!

The author has created characters that are wonderful and entertaining. Each turn of the page is a delight to the senses. The reader will find plenty of opportunities to laugh out loud as well as be surprised by their antics. It is a feast for the mind from start to finish.
