I laughed, I shouted, I had no idea this was not the end of the line for Finlay...I absolutely ate this book up.

Fin and Vero's shenanigans continue in a unique setting. Under the guise of attending a citizen's police academy for book research, Fin and Vero get to interview and mingle with the local cops, hoping to find out the information they need to get the Russian mob off Fin's back. All the while, Nick is nearby being all sexy and whatnot, which is perfect fodder for Fin's next book (at least according to Vero).

This one had it all: romance, suspense, action, thrills, mystery, toddler shenanigans, crime scenes, an absolutely obnoxious ex-husband (GO JUMP IN A HOLE, STEPHEN). You name it, it's there.

I loved the slow burn angst between Fin and Nick. That mess was palpable and I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what they would do. And the mock trial scene? I was laughing out loud in one second and screaming, "Nooooooooo!" in the next. Such a great scene.

I loved the new characters we met and explored in this volume, and I hope we get to see much more of them in the future. So many things are coming to a head for these characters, and I hope the momentum continues to build. Bring on book 4!

Another fun adventure in the Finlay Donovan saga! Finlay is a single mom, who mistakenly got involved with a Russian mafia boss. In this book she is trying to figure out who the cop informant contract killer is before she gets killed. Add into the mix a hot cop love interest, and her sidekick nanny, and you have a whole lot of fun. Who knew murder could be so funny? The Finlay Donovan series is a fresh addition to the cozy mystery whodunit books, with romance and humor too. I do recommend re-reading the first book, as it was a little hard to remember the original storyline. But overall a fun book to read.

I am a stan of Finlay Donovan. However, I feel like her story is stretching out a bit too much. Give her a different mob boss to deal with. Make her murder someone else, or put her in jail or something. She needs some spice in her life, and she is not going to get it by being chased by the same mob boss for the next four books. That being said, I really enjoyed the sleep away cop camp of this. It was an original idea that I really vibed with. Just feels like there are too many mobsters and their henchmen to keep track of.

Follow Finlay and Vero on another hilarious adventure. This time they find themselves hiding out at a citizen's police camp searching for easy clean. The antics will keep you laughing and the relationship between Nick and Finlay will keep you guessing. All the additional questions you now have will hopefully be answered in book 4! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this one, but it did take some time for me to get into it.

I read where someone called this more like a side quest novel than part of the overall story and I have to agree with that. Doesn’t make it bad though!

I am definitely desperate for the next book as this one totally ended on a cliffhanger #savejavi

Another action packed installment in the Finlay Donovan series. I have read the first 2 books and still had a little trouble keeping up with everything in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. This one did not quite resonate with me like the other books in the series did. But, that being said, I still enjoyed it and thought it was a good read. It just felt a little more forced than the first 2 books in the series.
I would like to thank Netgalley , the author and the publishers for an ARC of the book in exchange for my opinion.

I was so excited to get the arc for this one! Loved the first two books in this series. Finlay and Vero have such a fun connection and they always make me laugh. It pains me to say it though, I didn’t love this one as much as the other two…I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe because it was a little too far fetched for me? I couldn’t connect with the characters this time around 😥

Thanks to St.Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books and Netgalley for an advanced ecopy in exchange for an honest review.

Fast paced, funny, good mystery. I love Finley and her family. The author does a great job of including her children without making her careless. . I do think it’s time to move on to a new case.

I've read all the books in the Finlay Donovan series and they've all been fun and compelling, good reads that are hard to put down. However, this one felt slightly convoluted and like more of a stretch in terms of how things worked out. It wasn't predictable in the sense that I knew what would happen, but more in the sense that you knew when something dramatic would happen or when something was too good to be true. At a certain point in a series, it's often hard to keep things going at the same level, and perhaps this book was that point? I will probably read the next one as I like to see what happens to the different characters, but I hope it will be less of a stretch.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is a highly anticipated third novel in the series, I had recently finished the second novel and was thrilled to get my hands on this one to continue to follow Finlay's journey. In this book Finlay and Vero are trying to find the identity of Easy Clean, a contract killer that was getting their hits using one of Felik's websites disguised as a hidden women's forum. Felik's is one of the most dangerous mob bosses out there and Finlay and Vero have found themselves entangled in his chaos. Given a task to find out who this Easy Clean is the two come together to look to see if there is a corrupt member of the police force that it behind this identity. The two find themselves in a civilian police training camp that acts as a sleep away camp where regular citizens can get trained to do what police officers do. During their time there they try to talk to various police force to rule them out and find out who this contract killer is. Amongst it all Finlay has to revise her script for her upcoming book and add more spice to it to attract readers. With lack of action in her love life she finds herself at a stand still. That is until....NIck, attractive do good police officer, comes back into her life and ready to leave an impression on her.

This book includes so much action and I really found myself hooked at 70% of the book, They introduce new characters that play a large role and bring back characters from past books that has the reader surprised. This book is very minimal spice and is more focused on the action and the comedy of Finlay and Vero as they continue to find themselves in unfortunate situations.

I give this book a 4/5 stars and recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries and comedy, I'm excited to see if a fourth book comes out in this series since there was a cliffhanger at the end that could lead to one.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC!

I really, really love this series and will continue to read anything this author writes. However, I had a hard time with the slow pace of this book. I didn’t really get into it until close to the end, which closes on a cliffhanger. That said, it’s still a great series with lovable (if maddening) characters, and I will keep on reading them. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Finlay Donovan is at it again. This time, Finlay owes the Russian mob. How will she and Vero manage to escape this debacle? With humor and suspense intertwined, this book will certainly keep you entertained. I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy.

Thank you all for this early gifted copy of Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun!

Finlay has been a favorite story and character in my home for the last year. Funny, quirky and different. This book is my least favorite of the stories so far, and I think that’s because it felt a little dull. The story felt like a filler for the most part, and almost like it was more about Vero than Finlay. There were also so many new characters to keep track of on top of previous ones.

I still really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others to read. And I will definitely be continuing to read Finlay’s story as it comes!

One of my favorite detective duos is back!

This one answers a few of our burning questions from the first two books, and sets us up for more questions in the next in the series! You definitely need to read this series in order and this cannot be read as a standalone.

I love the banter and relationship between Finlay and Vero, but just didn't love this book overall. Almost the whole story takes place at a police academy training for citizens while the two are in hiding and researching for Finlay's next book.

This book moves quickly but I found myself putting this down a lot and it just didn't have the same spark as the first two for me. It definitely felt like a filler book to answer some questions, move things along. Many subplots tied things up neatly but really just added to reading like filler.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun
by Elle Cosimano

Overall 5
Spice 3

• Comedic and Cute
• Less Mom Humor
• Slow Burn
• Third Book in an Unfinished Series
• Cliffhanger
• Found Family
• Consequences and choices
• Mystery
• Pop culture references (more than in any book but I didn’t hate it too much)
• Must Read in Order

Thanks to St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books and Netgalley for ARC of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, by Elle Cosimano. This book is the third in a series and this is a must read in order series. No skipping around.
I expected this to be the end of the line for Fin and Vero but it’s nowhere close. This book plays with the possibility of ending things smoothly however… the course of love (and lies) never did run smooth.
Without any spoilers …another great mystery and comedy of errors await you in book 3. Again, Elle manages to avoid the sophomore slump and tedious trio and keeps things engaging entertaining and with a twist I somehow didn’t see coming. Leaving us on another semi cliffhanger I have questions… so many questions…. But I can’t wait for book 4.
I’m watching you Steven.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun

I’ll love Finlay forever. I’ll never forget being absolutely obsessed with the first one! It will always be my favorite. Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun is the third in the series, and I liked it. At first, I was bored/confused by the storyline, but it got better in the last half.

I’m 10000% team Nick + Finlay. I love them together. The fact that Finlay’s writing mirrors her real life is so fun, and I feel like she’s going to have a lot of material moving forward. 👀

I thought the book was going to wrap up everything in a nice + tidy bow, but no… there has to be a fourth one now. I need answers! 😳

bookish things:
🔫series (not stand alone - read in order)
🔫slow burn
🔫 mystery + rom com
🔫 A CLIFFHANGER ending!!!

Listen, between my library holds, the physical stack of unread books in my house, and the hidden stack of books on my Kindle, I have a lot of books and waiting for me to acknowledge their presence and read them. I try not to browse NetGalley too often, because it only makes the problem worse. So know when I shoved all of them aside for an uncorrected digital galley of Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun it was for a good reason.

This is the third installment of the Finlay Donovan series and will be released on January 31. And let me tell you, this was exactly the right book for me at this point in time. I think it’s hard to capture the magic of the first book. I mean, it was such a fresh and original idea—how do you top that? The answer is that you don’t, but you do give fans exactly what they want. And that’s what Elle Cosimano does here.

You want more Finlay and Vero content? You got it. You want mystery plus a healthy dose of humor? Absolutely. You want more scenes between Finlay and Nick? Done. You want to be nervous because everything could come crashing down around our female leads? That’s here too. The bonus for me was that this book is set at a “citizen’s police academy.” This sounds very much like what Cosimano once described at an author event—although the camp she attended wasn’t for mere citizens, but rather for authors so that when they wrote about police investigations they did so with some knowledge. It was fun to kind of see behind the scenes.

In any case, I think this book was a blast and if you have liked the previous installments of this series you’ll like this one too.

This was a fun and fast read. I enjoyed catching up with Finlay and crew on their latest mis-adventures. I loved the action and antics that Vero and Finlay unwittingly find themselves in. I especially enjoyed the police training aspect of this storyline. Also, the chemistry between Finlay and Nick really heats up in this instrument. I’m not always a fan of books with cliffhangers-but I am excited to read what’s next for Finlay Donovan.

Reviewed for NetGalley:

I really, really enjoy the sage of Finlay, her happenstance into crime, her friendship with the full of life, off the pages Vero, and of course, the hot cop, Nick.

Finlay's story continues with the need to uncover the identity of Mr. Clean....under the eyes of basically all the suspects...in a Police Academy for citizens. No loss of hijinks to be had.

Cosimano does a wonderful job of unfolding the story, just enough, to want the reader to beg for the next chapter, the next book.

Already cannot wait to see where the story goes....again.
