Guessed the twist at 36% into the book. I think the narrator did a good job but it got a bit confusing to keep up with who was who towards the end. I think the epilogue really clarified some things and explained the title a lot better than most of the book did. Over all I gave it a 3/5 star.
Naomi is a psychologist specialized in domestic abuse who is finding it hard to remain detached from her client's lives. After helping Jacob to decide to leave his wife, she wonders if she took things too far. Then, he goes missing and her files for his case disappear.
This psychological thriller could sadly not hold my attention. I found it quite far fetched and implausible. I listened to the audio version, and the narration was good, the plot was intriguing, and it was a quick read, but I couldn't relate the the characters. I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a very suspenseful tale of Naomi, a psychologist, who tends to get very emotionally invested in her patients.
Jacob is one such patient who is in an abusive relationship and true to form, Naomi goes above board trying to provide succour, against her husband Leon's wishes.
Then there is Anna, another patient in a bad relationship, who gets close to Naomi.
Naomi herself has secrets from her past that she is trying to outrun.
Bizarre things start happening, leading to a rising sense of paranoia, culminating in violence and murder.
Who is responsible? Will Naomi find out before it is too late?
It was an entertaining listen.
Karissa Vacker narrates with an authentic voice.
I enjoyed this ALC.
The Blame Game by Sandie Jones is a great thriller! I was absolutely sucked into this book and finished it in two days! I was so eager to listen to the audiobook narrated by Karissa Vacker. I really enjoyed some of her previous audiobooks and she did a fantastic job narrating this one too. It’s about a psychologist, Naomi, who gets caught in a web of secrets and lies when one of her clients goes missing. I really enjoyed the fast pace and all the twists although at times it could get a little confusing who’s who. I was kept intrigued right until the end. I’d definitely be interested to read more by this author.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio via NetGalley for my ALC!
This book was just ok for me. The writing was entertaining enough but I don't feel like everything came together at the end. There were characters added in order to wrap up the story that seemed to serve no other purpose. While I was entertained while reading (listening to) it, I came away with too many questions. Definitely not her best.
I loved this book. I felt so bad for Naomi because she was so nice and people kept taking advantage of her. Her husband also could have been kinder to her, things were coming up that did not match her character. I loved the last line in the epilogue, It was amazing for me.
The Blame Game started off strong for me. It would grab me, suck me in, and then there would be a lot of unnecessary narrative. Throughout the book the reader is given a lot of information; i.e background, thoughts, internal reasoning and ideas, and in the end, most of it was just a good old fashioned red herring. Naomi and Leon had no chemistry and it was hard to root for either of them as they didn't seem married, just two ancillary characters within the same story. In the last third of the book, it started coming together and while I did figure out part of this twist, the epilogue filled in what no one could have really known. After all was said and done, it was great at being a psychological thriller, but the execution of some of the characters actions just did not mesh.
After one exciting read, I rate this book 5/5 stars.
An American psychologist in England uncovers a crime. The characters give this book depth and nerve-blasting suspense. It had me guessing the entire way through. An excellent and exciting read.
This one kept me interested! It reminds me a lot of the Golden Couple, so if you liked that, you will like this one too!
The person who did the audiobook did a very good job and fit the story and the characters.
This book is a good thriller about a therapist and her patient and her inability to separate work and personal relationship.
Her client comes in claiming to be trying to get away from an abusive wife. She tries to help him and strange things start to happen. Things that seems she’s being set up but can’t seem to find a reason. Her other client seeks help but she’s not as she appears. Now who’s lying and who is telling the truth?
Thank you to Nick Galley for the advance copy of the audiobook.
I love the narrator of this audiobook. As for the story it was predictable from the beginning but it was an average read.
Great mystery! This was my second book by Sandie Jones and it did not disappoint! It definitely kept me guessing and I loved the big twist! Definitely recommend!
But my favorite of the author's. The main character just kept making so many poor decisions!
I guessed the big twist and found this to be overall underwhelming and forgettable.
This is my first book by Sandie Jones, but it won’t be my last. This book has so many twists and turns I felt like I was on a roller coaster! Naomi is a psychologist but she gets a little too involved in her clients’ lives.
I had a hard time putting this down. I spent extra time in the car so I could hear more. The narrator was pleasant. I want to thank Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Naomi is an American therapist living in England with a tragic past. Her father murdered her mother, so she is an advocate for domestic abuse. But she becomes too involved with her patients. And this time, a patient she was helping, has disappeared. She finds herself in the middle of a police investigation and her passion for helping looks quite different when viewed from another lens.
Two stars is kind of generous with this one. If I am honest, it is a bit of a hot mess. Naomi isn't even remotely likeable. And her actions are so ridiculous and far fetched, I spent the majority of the book annoyed. Also, if the climax and ending where intended to be a shocking twist, it failed miserably. I had everything figured out early on. Well, except for one detail disclosed in the epilogue.
I normally Sandie Jones's books, but this one fell short for me. It has two redeeming qualities- it is fairly short and Karissa Vacker does a great job narrating the audiobook.

I was apprehensive about this one since there are mixed reviews and while some aspects require you to suspend disbelief, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller. It was gripping, fast-paced and I didn’t predict the ending at all. I recommend you go in blind and let the twisty story unfold.

The Blame Game is a twisty ride of lies, poor choices, misdirections, and shady characters — with more than enough tension to keep the pages turning. Naomi, a therapist who specializes in domestic violence, has decidedly weak personal boundaries, sometimes going too far in her effort to help clients in need. This instinct quickly puts her in hot water when she takes in Jacob without her husband's permission, allowing Jacob to rent their empty flat to escape his wife's abuse. Naomi continues to see — and bend the rules for — other clients in her practice, while her own past begins to rise up to confront her as well. All of these characters come together in an increasingly complex jumble, and while I can't say I didn't guess the ending that was coming, Sandie Jones had enough balls in the air that I couldn't yawn and put my finger on the answer at any given point. Naomi made so many bad decisions that she was a character I came to love to hate, but I enjoyed the book nonetheless.
For those who enjoy audiobooks, I recommend that format, as Karissa Vacker did an excellent job of creating tension and suspense. This was my first Sandie Jones novel, and I will definitely look for more any time I need a quick and compelling read.

I'm a big Sandie Jones fan so I was excited to read this one and it did not disappoint me. This was the perfect popcorn thriller and it hooked me from the beginning. I found myself going back and forth throughout the novel trying to figure out who the heck was the puppet/puppet master in the different relationships. I also seem to really enjoy thrillers that feature therapists so that was another added bonus for me. As always, I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!
The narrator did a fantastic job bringing this story to life and painting such a vivid picture in my head as I listened along.
I recommend this quick read to any thriller lover and it is available today (8/16/22)!!

Naomi is a psychologist and specializes in domestic abuse. Trauma in her own past has lead her to this career.
A patient, Jacob, is being abused by his wife and becomes very dependent on Naomi. She tends to get very personally involved in the lives of her clients, doing all she can to help them. Her husband tries to discourage her involvement. When Jacob turns up missing, Naomi becomes the chief suspect!
Things get intense. Her husband doubts her. The police doubt her. Even as a reader, I began to doubt her. How can she prove she is innocent? Did she cross boundaries as a psychologist? And where could Jacob be?
I enjoyed the twist and turns and wasn't sure what to expect next.
Is Naomi guilty or innocent? You'll have to read to find out!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advance audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
