Box’s latest entry in the Cassie Dewell series involves two of her cases which have a twisty Robin Hood theme. Enjoyable mystery and the audiobook is very well done.

Well plotted episode in the Cassie Dewell thriller series, with good character development and some repeat performances by characters seen earlier in this series, particularly Kyle Westergaard last seen in "Badlands," A crossover has April Pickett, Joe Pickett's daughter, joining Cassie's staff--hope to see more of her! Cassie has her hands full as she juggles family issues and a couple of cases simultaneously, Plenty of action kept me glued to my audio player. Well performed and a terrific listen

I've read all of C. J. Box's books but this will definitely be my last. I found his use of characters to make fun of people wearing masks and ridiculing people who are afraid of getting covid intolerable and I was so angered by this insensitivity that it overshadowed the plot. For the many who've lost loved ones to covid or are suffering from long term effects, his writing is insulting and hurtful. Our country is incredibly divided right now thanks to the likes of Mr. Box and his rhetoric. This is a shame because otherwise he is not a bad writer. I am certainly open to the opinions of others but not when it is portrayed in such a condescending manner. There are ways that Box could've conveyed his opinion without being insulting.

In an effort to get the money back, Cassie trails him to Montana, all the while engaging in a race to find buried treasure that’s already killed five other would be treasure hunters. But Cassie isn’t looking for the treasure, her client claims to be the one who’s hidden it – he wants Cassie to find him. The best Box series to date
