I enjoyed Cooper's story and wanted to read Evan's story. I am not sure how I feel about Evan and Gen's story. Their previous relationship sounds toxic despite being so physically connected. I enjoyed seeing Evan's growth in trying to be a better man.
Gen was a tough character to root for. I don't know why but she just annoyed me. I really enjoyed the supporting characters that brought life to the book.
The narrators did a good job depicting Gen and Evan.
Thank you to the publisher for a copy of ARC and ALC copy.
Bad Girl Reputation (audio𝐀𝐑𝐂) — 3.5 ⭐️
𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞: October 4, 2022
𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: When Genevieve returns home to Avalon Bay to assist with her father’s business after her mother’s death, Evan’s feelings are reminded of the past. It’s like gravity is pulling him to be near her every chance he gets, but will she explain why she left without a word? And will there be a chance for a relationship now that trust has been broken?
𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: When listening to the audiobook at any speed other than 1x, it sounded a little echoey, but I still enjoyed it. Plus, I’m always a fan of a Dual POV book being told by multiple narrators.
After reading Good Girl Complex, I knew I would read any other books in the series. It was my first book by the author, and it did not disappoint. Bad Girl Reputation was the perfect continuation of the Avalon Bay story, and it answered some questions I had while reading the first book in the series. I hope the author continues to write about the other characters as well.
After not knowing much about Genevieve from Good Girl Complex, it was nice to learn about her, and to see Evan pining over her was very swoon-worthy! It was easy to see why Evan was a mess after she disappeared.

Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, for providing me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Overall I thought this was a really cute book. The audiobook narrators did a fantastic job! High school "sweethearts" that have to over come their own faults to make life work! I wish it had been more diverse, but it was definitely cute!
Reformed Bad Girl Genevieve is forced to return home and right back into the path of her ex.
This second chance romance was absolutely everything I didn’t know I wanted in a book. Gen is so well developed, that you can relate to her struggle of falling back into old habits vs. Forging ahead with the new life she’s created for herself. The banter, the angst, the will they won’t they. Everything was spot on. I will say I was worried I wouldn’t love this because I didn’t love GGC but everything about this book hit all the right marks. The redemption for not only Gen as she comes to turns with her past but all the mending her relationship with her dad, her old friends and Evan. Pure perfection. This was done so well.
I loved how Mac and Cooper were still wrapped into Bad Girl Reputation while still giving all the limelight to Gen and Evan.
As always the duo narrators really add to the production of this audio book. I absolutely love the different voices for the different povs. It really transforms the production into a living picture inside me head.
I didn’t love Good Girl Complex but I liked Evan enough as a character to pick this one up. This one is fine I also didn’t love it. It was kinda boring tbh like what even was the plot. If you love a second chance romance and characters working to better themselves this might be up your alley.
Fun summer rom -com. Main characters were not developed well, but story line was intresting. I enjoyed a little twist at the end.
Trop- bad girl- bad boy, small town romance, second chance romance. HEAR ME OUT. I am vvvvvvv picky about my 5 star reviews. Like REALLY PICKY. But when i say this book deserves every star i choose to give it and more, i mean it. I have read a lot of book by Elle Kennedy. The entire off-campus and briar-u series and good girl complex (which is part of the same series as this book). but if you tell me to choose one book of her (please don't), it'll definitely be this. I was soooooo lucky to receive an ARC by NetGalley. It is a bad boy-bad girl trope. Something i have never read before. And I have read over 150 book. This book was so original and so perfect. These are the only words which are worthy enough to be compared with this book. PRE-ORDER NOW!!!!!
Gen (aka Fred aka Genevieve) returns to her hometown after the death of her mother. Although she tries, she cannot keep her distance from her ex-boyfriend Evan because the town is so small and their feeling are both so strong. She is a different person now, and no longer lives as the wild-child. Can they find common ground and move passed the path and their lives were so entangled?
This book started hot, and I am not much into books that start like that. I know Gen and Evan have a past, but they cannot keep their eyes, minds, or hands off each other. As the book progressed, they grew on me, but they have issues that need to be sorted out and I am not sure if their relationship will actually last with some of the deeper feelings they hold for each other - like Evan thinking things are his fault, then after trying to fight for Gen decide he’s not good enough for her even though she says that he is.
The narrators for the novel were good. I wouldn’t put them up there as my favorites, but decent.
Overall, I didn’t read the first book in this series and you don’t have too, but maybe knowing more about the characters before might have helped. I don’t think I’ll be reading another of this series, just a bit too much sex thought and talk for my liking.
Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this ARC. Although this book wasn’t for me, maybe some of my romance reading friends will like it.
Thanks NetGalley for the Arc!
Elle Kennedy writes with such ease that it’s a breeze to get through her books. It was fun to read Bad Girl Reputation after Good Girl Complex. I’d love to read more of her books!
Genevieve comes home for her mothers funeral. She has recently completely moved away to ditch all her old habits and old boyfriend, Evan. But of course seeing him at the funeral brings back old feelings. She’s determined not to slip back into her partying and troublesome ways. Evan can not give her up that easily. Can people change together? Are they meant to be if they both need to grow so much? Is it worth it to change for someone?
I give Gen so many props to do what is best for herself. Giving up drinking alone is such a challenge. I know it’s always harder when people return home after trying to break free of their habits/vices.
There was a ton of steam in this book. Some I could’ve done without. It was also suggested that Evan really got around. That part confused me a bit because it seemed like he & Gen were together for most of their lives. He really adores her though and works hard at changing himself to be better for her. I’m not sure we needed that bad boy layer to his character. It made him a bit of a hard sell for me if he’d slept around so much even though he swears they’re meant to be.
There was a lot going on in this story which was fun but sometimes chaotic. There were also some heavy themes (addiction, sexual assault, drugs). Kennedy does a nice job addressing both sides of these things.
I really enjoyed the narrator. It was a joy to listen to this book.
I really enjoyed this book about flawed humans trying really hard to grow. The narrators were perfect fits for each character and felt totally natural. Evan and Gen were an interesting combination and their devotion to eachother was nostalgic and beautiful.
Rom-Coms tend to be character driven stories that focus on a journey. There are stories about 2 people and how their quirks make them perfect for each other, and stories where the characters evolve into becoming the perfect fit!
This book focuses on two “bad” people and their journey alone into becoming better, and how they help each other to get where they want to be. The interesting thing is how they are perfect for each other all along (bad or good) and the passion and love is there from the beginning, but still they grow together in such a way that at the end they are even more perfect.
The book is titled BAD girl reputation and I have to say I never saw Gen as a bad girl but as a normal 20 something that lived her life to the fullest. There was nothing that made me see her or Evan as bad people. They never mean toward people, they were all heart and emotions. I liked the characters and I liked how they evolved without losing themselves.
The story touches important topics as abuse of power and dysfunctional families, the spice is very good! I would not categorize it under the “second chance” love trope but it’s pretty close to it!
Very enjoyable! Part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
Gen reminded me so much of myself. A recovering alcoholic with a HORRIBLE childhood. The same for Evan. Because of this, it left the both of them emotionally broken. Even through their own struggles, they were able to rekindle their paths love. This is definitely a book that I would recommend! Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to review this book. #NetGalley #BadGirlReputation
I immediately drew a personal connection with Gen within the first few pages. And then entered Evan. It took a little bit longer for me to enjoy him. You could tell they have a past that is still fresh and I like how they fall back into life(and not just good things, drama is there still!) I like how the book is set up from each of their point of views so you get to know the characters individually and then together as a whole. This was a book with some heavy topics, but also had the light hearted humor mixed with spicy romance! A story of forgiveness, second chances, and finding one’s true self.
I was excited to read this after finishing the first one! I thought Gen might be the next in the series as often as she was mentioned in the first. This book is actually much more interesting than the first one. It’s a good quick read or listen.
After reading Good Girl Complex and loving it earlier this year, I went on an Elle Kennedy binge and have now read 9 of her books! I’m happy to say Bad Girl Reputation was worth the wait! I flew to rough this one! I was excited for Evan’s story after seeing glimpses of him in Good Girl Complex. I’m not sure if I loved Evan and Gen quite as much as Cooper and Mac, but I still really liked this one! I loved their beach town and the second chance romance between Gen and Evan. Evan’s transformation was a little quick, but I liked seeing both of them work on themselves. I’m hoping there were hints at the end that this will be a longer series! I really enjoyed the narrators and thought they were perfect for their roles.
I loved this installment of the Avalon Bay series!! Getting to know Evan and Gen while also catching up with Cooper and Mac made for such a enjoyable read. From the friend group, family members, the villain, reinvention of oneself, reconnecting, still hilarious pup and introduction of some new characters - this book was a hit! I’m already counting down to the next release!
10/10 recommend this series in either print or audio format! Both have been fantastic!
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review!
I think my on and off again relationship with Elle Kennedy's books is officially off. I haven't liked either book in this series and while this installment wasn't problematic like the first one, there was almost no character or real relationship growth. Evan and "Fred" spend the whole book reminding us how toxic they are together and flashing back to old romantic memories, until they finally decide to get back together but with no real changes we have no proof that it will workout. The stereotypes and the characterization seems pretty dated, via 2010 Tumblr fanfictions and I'm just kinda over it all
Genevieve West returns home to her mother’s funeral. She was a former bad girl and left all she knew to start fresh. She knows her ex-boyfriend, Evan Hartley is there, and she wants to avoid him. They have tons of chemistry and passion however they are not good together. They both are like fireworks with each other, however seeing each other is inevitable.
Once they run into each other, clearly the attraction is still there. She wants to go to the funeral and run back to her life. Her dad needs help with his business, so she agrees to help temporarily.
Do they rekindle their romance? Evan knows he can change and be the person Genevieve could be proud off. He has to grow up sometime. Is she worth it? Can they have the kind of relationship they both want? This novel is a little graphic, so know that ahead of time. This book is written from both their POV, which makes this interesting.
4.5 stars. It wasn't quite as good as the first book in the series but still excellent. This is a second chance romance between the bad girl and bad boy of small beach town Avalon Bay. Both characters try to mature and be more responsible as the story goes on. I liked that aspect of the story and the romance was sweet, but I didn't feel the tension and the angst like I did the first book
This is a story about second chances, forgiveness and redemption. I will say that there is a lot of push-pull and toxicity between the two main characters that won’t be for everyone. Knowing Gen and Evan’s upbringings and teenage history, I thought their messy relationship was fitting for the story. It was special watching them grow and mature and each try to live a better life than their past. I also loved that Coop, Mac and the rest of the friends we met in Good Girl Complex played a big role in the story. At first I forgot all the small details but Elle Kennedy does a great job reintroducing the cast and reminding you of what happened.
Read if you like:
-second chance romance
-beach town setting
-tight friend groups
-mending relationships
-bad boy/ bad girl
