Sometimes you just need a juicy love story. For me, the Leslie North series don’t disappoint. I really enjoyed how Katie Knight brought a fresh style into Her Seal Protection. My one complaint about Leslie North books is that they all really follow the same plot line. Katie’s voice was fresh and brought something new to the series.
Chandler and Eden's story is an action packed, adrenaline fuelled tale of attempted murder, kidnapping and arson while falling in love and dodging the bad guys. Eden's amnesia means that her witness testimony is unreliable but someone is not taking any chances and is intent on making her permanently silent on the matter. Chandler is equally determined to keep his childhood crush safe.
A quick, exciting read with just enough romance and heat to satisfy .
This is a good book. The two main characters are Eden and Chandler. They have known each other all their lives. The story starts with Eden waking up in the hospital with part of memory gone. She was in the hospital because someone run her off the road. Eden is a dog groomer and Chandler is an ex-Navy Seal, now head of a security firm. Chandler helps Eden to figure out how to get her memory back because she witnessed a murder and the trial is coming up soon. Through a couple of murder attempts Eden gets her memory back and they realize they love another.
Eden wakes in the hospital being told that she is a witness in a murder trial. Having amnesia she remembers nothing at this point about the crime. Her brother asks a friend who is also a Seal, Chandler to look after her while she is going through everything. He agrees even though she does not want a babysitter. As with the other stories, they begin to find each other attractive. You must read the story to find out if it works for you.
This book was cute! It had a slow start but once I got into it was a good read. Probably a 2/5 on the spice scale.
A brother’s best friend bodyguard romance. The characters were like able if not a bit basic.
The suspense and romance was a good balance!
I’ll definitely keep an eye out on future books from this duo.
Another hit from Leslie North. A retired navy seal and a strong independent woman that doesn't want any help always creates a perfect short and sweet mystery read with the perfect amount of romance.
This story has it all. Unrequited love, murder and suspense. The heroine is independent even though someone is trying to kill her to stop her from testifying. The hero is a retired navy seal that came home to take over the family security business. Chandler is protecting Eden. Sparks have always been between them.
The story was well written and kept me on the edge of my seat until the last chapter.
What’s not to like! Fast paced, an independent woman, a former navy SEAL, will they won’t they moments and a great bunch of characters. Eden is a very independent person who is the youngest of seven. When she wakes up in hospital with absolutely no recollection of how she got there she has to rely on her brother Adam to fill her in. It turn out that she witnessed a murder and was her car accident that resulted in her hospitalisation really an accident? Enter Adam’s friend former navy SEAL Chandler. He becomes her fake boyfriend so that he can be there to protect her but how long can they deny their feelings for each other? This was a quick and easy read that had me hooked from page one. A great read!

Eden owns a pet grooming business and awakes in the hospital with partial amnesia. Eden has witnessed a murder and the culprits are out to kill her. Chandler is a former Navy SEAL and manager of his father’s security company. Chandler and Eden’s brother are best friends and he has been tasked as being Eden’s bodyguard. As Eden and Chandler work closely together to get to the bottom of who is after Eden there is an attraction and chemistry brewing between the two of them. Eden and Chandler forge into a fake relationship to keep Eden safe. As things continue to progress the two are secretly crushing on each other and then all of sudden danger is looming around them.
This is a great read that is action packed, definitely a page turner, suspenseful, romantic and kept me enthralled to the very end with an awesome plot.
Will Chandler be able keep Eden safe, will Eden regain the rest of her member, will the culprits who are after Eden be caught, will Eden and Chandler’s relationship go from fake to the real thing?
trope: fake dating, childhood friend to lovers, brother's best friend.
It is a fast-paced book and a very quick read (259 pages). I think the characters, Eden and Chandler have so little time to grow, thus it makes the story feel a little flat to me. I'm hoping for Eden's details on her family and her feeling about Chandler when they are little. Maybe some forbidden type of romance since Chandler is her brother's best friend. But in this book we got fake dating, so I am not complaining. I love the fake dating trope.
In my opinion, Chandler feels a lot more flat as a character compared to Eden. I don't think he's working 24/7 and his only personality trait is being an ex-Navy SEAL. The conflict is typical and cliche but I think it was okay. Eden getting kidnapped is so great. I like this scene a lot because as I've said, it gives some character to Chandler to be the hero y'know.
I gave this book 3.5 over 5. The summary is interesting. It has a solid and well-loved trope in it.
Her seal protection was, overall, pretty good. The suspense and mystery were entertaining, and I liked the easy feel of Chandler and Eden’s relationship. It was a good book, just not a home run for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
When Eden Dawson wakes up in the hospital, she has no idea what happened. She is told that she survived a car accident and may have retrograde amnesia. She can remember her past, but it is her last few months that she has trouble remembering. Her brother and his friend and boss, Chandler Ruthven, of Ruthven Security arrive to tell her that they believe her accident was an attempt to kill her. Months ago, she was a witness to a robbery and murder at a gas station, but now can’t remember what she saw. The murderer is in jail, so who is trying to kill her? She is attacked at her home and her business is targeted, but Chandler, a former SEAL, insists that he be her bodyguard. He has been attracted to Eden for years, but as his friend’s sister, it’s complicated. As they spend more time together, they realize they both want much more than friendship, but first they must find the person who is trying to kill her. An exciting romantic suspense as they move from friends to lovers. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I love a romance with a Navy seal love interest, it's something about the dominance and strength they have. I do think I've read slightly better navy seal romances but that's more to do with character development. I think if Chandler had more backstory to understand his reasoning of his protective instincts.
Some parts were slightly cringe, but they were enjoyable readers regardless. I did love the scene with Chandler and Eden in the salon and Chandler 'assists' Eden - that made me laugh. The storyline was really interesting and I felt there was definite chemistry between the pairing as well.
If you’re a fan of the bodyguard trope, this book is not what you’re looking for. Trust me, it’ll only leave you frustrated.
At first, I was really excited to read this, but I found myself getting more and more annoyed as the book went by. I am really disappointed because I was really excited and the reviews are all so positive, I thought it would be at least enjoyable, but I was just annoyed. The couple had no chemistry and everything was so fast and badly written that by 60% I just wanted it to end as soon as possible.
The great part about it is that it’s a quick read, even though I like to believe that if the book was longer, it would be better.
I received an advanced reader's copy of Her SEAL Protection by Katie Knight and Leslie North from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this novel. The main characters, Eden Dawson and Chandler Ruthven, were sweet together. I liked their banter, sizzling chemistry, and their story arc. This was a solid romance novel and I found it to be well written. The plot was engaging and the pacing moved swiftly.
A quick enjoyable romance story with not to much heat. Eden suffers from amnesia after a hit and run and then finds herself being targeted by someone trying to kill her, and as her memory returns so does her attacker. Chandler is the bodyguard who’s feelings develop into love, yet doubts his ability to keep her safe, until he can.
Eden is pretty unlucky lately. Wrong place kind of thing which is why she has someone out to make sure she doesn't live to testify for a murder she witnessed. Chandler is doing his best to find out who is trying to kill her before one of their attempts actually works. That means that he is close quarters with Eden and past wants from both of them come out and this time they act on them. I loved the closeness that they formed. It took some time so it felt real. I enjoyed reading, Her Seal Protection.
Personally I don't feel like giving five stars, it's a good book, but there is nothing that can make me stay awake
at night thinking about the book. The story includes several tropes that I appreciate (brother's friend and bodyguard). All in all I recommend it and think it can be a great non-difficult read.
I really liked this one! After watching Purple Hearts, I was in the mood for a military romance, and this was perfect. I had expected a bit more steam considering the cover (he is shirtless after all), but I appreciated this even more because it wasn't super spicy. We really got to know the characters and their romance without too many added distractions.
Also, I loved the way the main conflict didn't overwhelm the romance. I've read way too many romances recently where the plot devours the romance. This didn't do that, and it was great. The plot and the romance worked together to create an intricate and addicting read. I'd definitely recommend this!
I received an ARC for my honest opinion.
When Eden wakes up in the hospital with retrograde amnesia, she’s told she is a witness in a murder trial. With no memory of it she’s not sure how she can be of any help. But that’s if she even makes it to the trial since someone keeps trying to kill her. When her brothers best friend and Navy Seal, Chandler, shows up to be her bodyguard, she doesn’t expect the feelings she has for him to grow. Neither want a relationship but maybe they’re exactly what each other needs.
This was so cute! I love how strong Eden is no matter what has happened to her, she always gets back up. Chandler is a total alpha and I love how much es willing to do to keep her safe, even if he isn’t the one doing it. Happy he got his head out of his butt though.
