We finally got book 4 in the Miles High series and it was just what I needed during a crazy month at work!
The Do-Over
Author: TL Swan
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh Christopher Miles, I sure did love you! This book was a bit different than the others. Why? Because Christopher went on a journey to find himself and they took us to Europe. And while there, he met Hayden. And I loved Hayden. She was perfect for Christopher. I loved watching them slowly move from friends to lovers.
However, there was one thing that bugged me- Christopher lying about who he really was and how rich he was. I just had when that ends up being the conflict. I know why it was written that way but it stresses me out.
Want to know what didn’t stress me out? Eddie. I didn’t pick up on the little twist that happened but the ending made me so happy.
Highly recommend reading this series if you are looking for an interconnected steamy billionaire romance series!
TL Swan can do no wrong. I was really sad that this was the conclusion to the Miles High Series until she announced an extended epilogue with all the brothers. I love the Miles brothers so much.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, & author for the ARC of this book!!
I need someone to tell me how this is over 500 pages? It doesn't feel an ounce over 350! So impressed already by that, but let's get into the goodies! Christopher... what a man! So fucking hilarious, like legit one of the funniest heroes in a book. He was funny without even knowing it - like praise to TL Swan for that writing. Impeccable.
This book is 5/5 for love, smut, adventure, found family, all of it! HOWEVER I was never that over the moon for Hayden. She's good, she's great, but she ain't all that - just my opinion. Didn't take away from anything obviously, but needed to be said.
This was so much more than I imagined it would be. It has so much in it beyond backpacking and Chris finding himself.
I mean... Eddie... come on... shoot me dead! I was literally dying of adoration.
Now I need to backtrack and meet all the brothers properly!
4.5 stars rounded to 5!
Ok, so first things first - Tristan is still my favorite. But…a Christopher is a close second!
He took a little while to grow on me, but as the book went on he matured (emotionally) and surprised me in the best ways!
Like the rest of the series, the steam was excellent and mixed in with some laugh-out-loud moments that I really enjoyed. In that way it reminded me a lot of The Takeover; Tristan and Christopher are described as being a lot alike, so this felt natural.
I loved Hayden! She challenged Christopher in ways he wasn’t used to and made him a better man. My heart broke for her a little later in the book, but the fact that she stayed true to her feelings and was honest about them made me love her even more.
And Eddie? One of my favorite side characters ever! I love that kid!
Special thanks to @addie.yoder who first suggested The Stopover to me for one of my 12 friends/12 recs choices! I might not have picked these up without her and I’m so glad I did!!
Technically, this series isn’t over…we’re getting an extended epilogue for each brother in February! I cannot wait!
Definitely check this series out! You’re going to love all the Miles brothers!
I did not love or hate The Do Over, it was just ok for me. I have loved all the Mile’s High Club series and was looking forward to Christophers book and I just did not love him. The banter between Christopher and Hayden was good. I just wanted more from them. I love T.L Swan books, this one just was not for me.
TL Swan's mastery of the 26-letters of the alphabet has done it again! The Do-Over certainly lived up to its title - in that I wish I could read it for the first time again.
I loved the feistiness between Christopher and Hayden. The push & pull in their connection which ultimately led to an undeniable love.
TL Swan has a wicked sense of humor, and there were quite a few moments which has kept me laughing, every time I think about them. And the steamy romance... don't even get me started!
She's my favorite author, and any book of hers is an automatic must-grab for me.
5 top notch stars, TL Swan. I love living in your world.
Do over
I just love the Miles men & Christopher was no exception to this and among all the brothers I think he had the biggest growth and development.
When Christopher realizes that his life is very shallow and that he doesn’t truly know who he is. He’s the youngest and during the book we find out how that’s impacted him, all the way back to when he was young.
He decides to take a year off and go backpacking through Europe, with none of his money to help.
During his stay in a hostel he meets a a girl named Hayden, she doesn’t know who he is. She thinks knows the kind of guy he is after seeing how he behaves the first few nights in a hostel. Somehow they wind-up, cuddling at night together. I wouldn’t throw him out of my bed.
Their relationship turns into more, until he has to go home and back to reality. Her reality is a lot different than his. We’ve seen in the other books the Miles’ world is a lot to take in!
I did love getting to see his brothers and their wives at a dinner and hear what’s been going on with them. I’m not good with the timing, so I couldn’t figure out how much time had elapsed since The Stopover. I will miss this family and I was thrilled hear that there will be 1 more book that will bring us up-to-date on each couple!
The Do Over was absolutely a 5 star read for me! The writing & humor that I love about TL’s writing was so on point in this one.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange my honest review.
This fourth installment in the Miles High Club from T.L. Swan was a much highly anticipated novel and ultimately was just an alright read. I neither fully loved or hated this novel, their were moments I enjoyed, moments I felt like things were lacking and I over all just wanted a better growth and understanding of how these two people really decided to stay in love with each other and work things out. Swan's writing is still very good, the read was mostly engaging, and even though this novel is long it still read quickly, yes the pacing was influenced by time jumps which really played into how much time we actually progress through the novel.
Christopher is the youngest Miles brother, he is a player, he is privileged, and he is unaware of how easy is life truly in in the grand scheme of things. After feeling humiliated by his brothers he makes the rash decision to take a year backpacking across Europe, taking only $2000 with him, knowing he is going to have to find work to sustain himself. Hayden is a country girl, a teacher, and she is taking a year for herself. These two end up as roommates in a hostel, and Christopher is interested and Hayden is unaffected by his charms. How will he be able to convince her that maybe they can be something more than friends.
The premise of this novel is super promising and interesting, and while there are lots of fun moments that deal with the trials and tribulations around Christopher being out of his element, Swan does rely a lot on body function humor, which comes across as juvenile. Christopher is meant to be on a journey of discovery and change, and while there are moments of this he still feels like he has a lot to learn, or I feel like because of the time jumps we lacked seeing true growth of character. Ultimately this book is broken into two parts, one part where Christopher is outside his comfort zone and then one part where Hayden is the fish out of water. I really think this is an interesting concept and I think there were moments where this worked really well, I feel like seeing how these two actually learn to meet in the middle is must more glossed over than I would have preferred. I think I would rather have seen more time focused on Christopher and Hayden actually talking to each other, them both learning to understand each other and their true feelings and learning how to meet in the middle, be selfless and aware of their true partners needs.
This novel while lacking a better exploration of communication between Christopher and Hayden, does explore the physical side of their relationship beautifully. These two do not lack in chemistry and Swan definitely knows how to build up physical chemistry and sensuality. Overall, I feel like I was missing a true growth from Christopher, yes he had moments of understanding towards other people, but I do feel like he was controlling and manipulative of Hayden in many moments and I never feel like they both truly reconciled that, so I am left feel like their relationship still has a lot of work that needs to happen before I will truly believe their happily ever after.
Do I recommend that you read this novel, sure, especially if you love the Miles Brothers and T.L. Swan's works, this is not a bad novel. This is just a hero that did not fully work for me. I am still a fan of Swan's works and am looking forward to an epilogue to bring all the brothers and their families together.
3-3.5 Stars.
T L Swan
Such a nice surprise to see another book to the Miles Series.
I had enjoyed the first trio so was looking forward to this but I don’t know if my expectations were so high that I was hugely disappointed.
This one was written in such a different style.
The youngest brother Christopher Miles, who is a “sex god” and irresponsible at age 32 seeks to find himself by going cross country and camping out in hostels and work to survive.
Personally, not what I had in mind, instead I imagined wilderness camping and roughing it by surviving in the wild. Instead the 30 year olds all stay at a hostel (hotel) and hang out, party, and have a good time, no different then college dorm life. I could not understand how he fit in coming from a different socioeconomic level. It felt very unbelievable, the characters and their lives to take them seriously.
The heroine in this story is a farm girl who gets away from her ranch to mend her broken heart. The two are as different as night and day yet the author wants us to believe that she tames him or is able to see his compassionate side despite being a sex maniac. I couldn’t feel the chemistry and definitely felt like the relationship was juvenile where they would sleep and cuddle together but not engage in anything more and in a shared room with others.
The love relationship felt forced. It felt overly dramatic coming from two walks of life. I felt it was farfetched how there seems to be a conflict but it gets easily blown over. I really didn’t like him as the main character and didn’t feel he became a responsible soul. The storyline fell flat where for the first three months he is wooing the heroine and then the last 6 months just fly by and they face reality and he meets her parents. Too fast unrealistic. The turning point of the relationship is where she gives up her life for him which feels very old fashioned and did he not learn anything on this journey , being the same selfish immature guy?
The story was too long winded and didn’t feel climactic at any point. The issues seemed to be overlooked and unaddressed. I really hoped this story would turn out to be as amazing as her first two in this Miles trilogy but the characters are just awful.
💭I’ve been a fan of the author's books for a few years now. The do over is way better than my expectations for Christopher.
We know the four brothers and their own stories, the love interest and children and life they build. But Christopher was always the one left behind, the younger brother that can do whatever he wants because his family will allow it.
The story starts off with him being the bachelor everyone wants. But his life is boring and traveling to Europe seems a great idea. Especially since he only packs a backpack and just a small amount of money to keep him going for a few days.
It's interesting to see how he handles all the daily activities and challenges that for most people are something normal, but for a billionaire is a struggle.
Hayden is from the states but she is traveling to Europe to get away from her past and maybe starting all over.
Their interactions are hilarious and while I had a smile on my face most times, I also felt the incertitude they both felt throughout their friendship.
What I probably loved the most was the support of his parents and brothers, and that ending was perfect.
It’s emotional and romantic,a heartwarming romance.
🆓📖Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy
Wow! Just wow! Just when I thought I had my favorite Miles and along came Christopher! It had everything I needed to sworn my heart! Love it!
TL Swan never disappoints, The Do Over was the book I was looking forward to the most out of The Miles brothers I just knew Christopher was going to be my favourite and he didn’t disappoint.
I find it hard to laugh out loud when reading but Christopher was hilarious, I loved everything about him and Hayden was a perfect match for him. She didn’t take his crap but she understood him so completely and she always believed in him. So sad that this is the final book but so looking forward to reading the extended epilogues for the brothers next year. I could real about the Miles brothers all day long.
This didn’t start out great, got a bit better around 30-50% then I dnf’d around 60%. I just wanted invested in the story or the characters. I found Christopher quite annoying and immature. Hayden was better but still not my fav FMC. I just didn’t enjoy the plot as much as the previous books. I do enjoy the scenes between all the brothers but friends to lovers is a tricky trope to do right and for me this wasn’t a hit or a miss. It was very middle of the road but there wasn’t enough of a connection to get me to finish it.
Roughing it can be so much fun The Do Over is another wonderful read from TL Swan. I love how strong the female lead Hayden is and how in touch she is with others feelings. She takes no nonsense but still carrie’s her heart on her sleeve. Christopher Miles will make you laugh out loud, make you want to punch him in the face and want to hug him close to you. This book has all the feels . As always, TL Swan brings out all the emotions you want to experience when reading her books. Another brilliant read. I couldn’t put it down.
“I’ve made a lot of bad decisions in my life, done things that I regret. But there is one thing in life that I do know for certain . . . I am utterly and irrevocably in love with the beautiful Christopher Miles. We were meant to meet.”
Let me start by saying that I love this series and T L Swan’s writing. So when I heard about Christopher’s book, I couldn’t wait to read it. But after reading the book, I’ve struggled on how to rate this book because there were things that I really loved about this book and things that didn’t work for me. Maybe it’s a case of it’s just me and not the book. Overall I really enjoyed Christopher and Hayden’s story. I loved their funny banter and the sexual tension between them. I also loved that this story was set in some beautiful destinations. Not to mention, seeing Christopher try to search for himself and survive backpacking around Europe was entertaining and hilarious!
On the other hand, the one thing that I had trouble with was Christopher’s behavior towards the second half of the book. I would’ve wished that he had more growth towards the end and constant push and pull between him and Hayden became a bit too much after a while. I also would’ve loved to have seen more of their relationship in the epilogue. For me, it just left me craving for more of their story. The one redeeming part that saved this book for me was the relationship between Christopher and Eddie. The moments between them were so adorable and heartwarming. Moreover, I was very happy to hear that the author announced that she would be releasing another book with extended epilogues for this series. And I can’t wait to see more of these characters!
At the end of the day, I enjoyed this book. Yes it's over the top and a little ridiculous at some points, but it was a fun journey and the overarching story was well done.
The Do-Over is the final book in The Miles High Club companion series where we follow the last and youngest Miles brother, Christopher and Hayden, a woman looking for something new.
I loved that Christopher and Hayden built a strong friendship before anything else happened. There was no instant attraction on either side and that made it all feel a little more real. I enjoyed the interactions with the group of people they met living in the hostile with them and the relationships developed with Eduardo, a teen working at the hostile.
There were definitely some points throughout that felt a little misogynistic. Though I also think that was intentional to show how far Christopher needed to grow, which I think he did. The characters growth for both Christopher and Hayden was great and very well done.
It was a chaotic story at points, but it was a really fun experience with a great story. And getting to see everyone from the previous books was a perfect addition. I think this was a great conclusion to the series.
Sadly this was a DNF for me. I got to 17%, and that felt like a chore. I so badly wanted to love this book, because I really enjoyed the first 3 in this series. But in the first 17% we had many instances of slut shaming and body shaming, and in 2022, I really just expect more from authors in this regard. We deal with enough of this in real life, I don't need it in my fictional worlds as well. The main male character, Christopher, also didn't exhibit 1 redeeming quality. He was spoiled, rude, and so childish. I've heard from other readers that this gets better throughout the book, but honestly just getting to 17% in this book felt like pulling teeth.
4.5 ⭐️
Okay, for the record, let me just get this out of the way.. Christopher Miles was great, but he did not beat out Tristan for the top Miles brother spot. It is forever Tristan’s. Don’t come for me 🙃
After all of his brother’s have found their true loves and have begun the next chapter of their lives, Christopher finds himself confused as to what he wants out of life and who he is. He decides he is going to have a “do-over” and take a sabbatical, leave behind his fame/money, and go backpacking around the world for a year. Hayden has not been living her best life, and her mom/bff convince her to take this trip she booked. Christopher & Hayden find themself at the same hostile in Barcelona and begin to explore the world together, and themselves. Christopher is a classic Miles brother, he is so likeable but at times you do kind of want to smack him upside the head too 😂 Hayden is super relatable and just a good ole country girl from a farm who finds herself exploring a new side of herself alongside of Christopher. I loved that they were friends and had such a sweet relationship together that organically grew into more. I loved that each Miles brother had a girl bring out a different side of them, and I felt like Hayden was a mix of all of the previous FMCS. Some things I need to say: This was the least spicy out of all of the books in the series, and that was quite shocking to me. Also, I felt as if SO much happened the last quarter of the book, and then abruptly ended. Personally, I just didn’t feel quite as strongly about their story as I did the other three. I still liked this story, read it in like a day, had a great time reading it (the cameos sprinkled throughout really made my heart full) but it just didn’t quite hit that 5 ⭐️ for me.
Although this is the end of the Miles brothers, I am SO excited TL announced an extended epilogue releasing on 2/14/23. One last go around with my beloved Miles brothers 🥹
Unfortunately, I didn’t feel comfortable continuing. I DNF’d at 15%. First and foremost, a side character was described as having dreadlocks (it should be locs). Then it went on to refer to him as “dreadlocks guy” as if he doesn’t have a name. Then the male protagonist proceeds to tell him he smells to his face, which feeds into a larger stereotype and the stigma surrounding dreadlocks/locs.
WOW! I don't even know where to begin with this review. I started reading TL Swan's books starting with book one in The Miles High Club. I was so excited for Christopher's book and while it was so not what I was expecting, it ended up being so much more. Christopher gets a rude awakening when his brothers all tell him how spoiled and entitled, he is. He does not see it; he's worked his whole life at the family company and it's not his fault he has money. Hayden has lived on her family's farm her whole life and after being deceived by her high school sweetheart, she is looking for a change. Backpacking through Europe is the answer for both! Christopher has a much harder adjustment, but this trip is eye opening for both. I absolutely loved watching the transformation of both characters into a more maturity and grown-up self. Unfortunately, one of the biggest adjustments is Christopher did not tell the truth of having money. Working through something so critical is a pivoting point in the story and their lives together. I absolutely loved watching them grow together. The story in this book was so much more than just the love story of Christopher & Hayden, but also the friendships formed between everyone, most notably, Christo & Eddie. The bond between this teen and Christo is such a pivotal part of the story and absolutely melted my heart. I am so sad to be leaving the world of the Miles brothers.
