This is a detailed and well-organized guide to how each Sun experiences love and relationships. It covers the positive and negative aspects of each personality, along with what they need from a partner, what they absolutely won't tolerate, and how they express themselves sexually. There is then a section that further details how each sun signs interacts with other sun signs in a relationship. This author is careful to keep the tone very positive and encouraging--no matter how much a pairing may seem to be at cross purposes, the focus seems to be on how it could work.
Obviously there's lot more than sun signs that go into a relationship, but it's still a worthwhile thing to learn about. I particularly enjoyed the section explaining the mythology behind each sun sign--it was interesting reading! This would be a great pick for anyone looking for insight into themselves and how they interact with other people.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and revIew!
With Sun Signs in Love Desiree Roby Antila portrays an accessible introduction to astrology, more precisely to love and relationships between the signs. I wanted to read this book as my interest was peaked by how astrology and literature interacted. To my surprise, this book is not a manual or guide of any sort on how to tackle romantic relationships, the book focused more on how each individual sign interacts with others. Additionally, it does not preach any type of believe or preconceived notion on any sign.
I enjoyed Sun Signs in Love, it was a fun read about a topic I am not an expert by any means!
“Astrology is not meant to predict a storm, it is meant to tell you to bring an umbrella.”
I enjoyed reading the author's interpretations on how the sun signs act when in love and I just appreciate the level of detail included in here with the inclusion of mythologies and different information about each signs. My only kind of questionable and side-eye worthy things in here is the normalization and romantization of gaslighting. A specific example I'm going to include here is the part when the author is talking about the gemini and pisces sun signs in love, and I just gonna put the direct quotation here:
"When Gemini’s sarcasm hurts Pisces’s heart, the fish must remember that they have a gem of a partner that can change color with the blink of an eye and that their sprite contains a personality that makes life more vivid than it ever was before . Every time Pisces feels a need to swim away, Gemini will say to them, in the sweetest childlike voice, “Honestly, love, what would I do without you in my life?” Pisces will then forget what they did to hurt them in the first place."
That passage just didn't sit with me right, alongside the other indirect quotes and passage similar to that.
