In the very begging if this book i would have said it started off really good like i got into the plot right away and it gave very much “legally blonde” vibes which is two thumbs up for me but a bit after Seth was introduced into the story like we got info about him i didn’t really like the fact of how much he absolutely”hated” her like maybe he didn’t really but the things he said and the way he acted towards her however i think the list thing that they had to both complete was a really good part of the book like i was actually ready for some of those but it took so long and i felt like there was a lot of unnecessary details that just made the story go on forever though there were also a few scenes in this boom between them that literally just made my heart fluttered like the sunflower he got her when they had first been dating” if you know what i mean and when he confessed the things to her omfg also during the kiss scene when she had to kiss another guy <3 overall two stars i didn’t love this book but a lot of things made up for the unnecessary details in my opinion

It's no surprise that I absolutely loved Just My Type. I read Lease On Love early last year and loved it. I love how Fallon writes witty yet strong stories where the female main character grows because she wants to not because a man made her. All of the characters in this book were so solid and added to the story. Lana and Seth were swoon worthy. Even though they were pitted against each other, you still felt the attraction and pull they felt toward the other. Overall I loved this quick read and would easily suggest Fallon's book to all my friends, readers and non readers alike!!!

Last year, I loved Falon Ballard's debut, so I was SO excited for this one—and it did not disappoint! This was so much fun, yet emotional, which I absolutely loved. Will forever read anything Falon writes!

I really love Falon Ballard's work. It's just cute and fun and a nice time. I thought Lease on Love was fantastic and couldn't wait to get my hands on Just My Type.

What could be worse than having to compete against your ex (THE ex) to get the job of your dreams? Nothing, right? What if part of the competition was having to stay single and watch HIM find a forever relationship? Ugh, THE WORST. But somehow, Falon Ballard made this a super cute story that I really, really enjoyed. I just really LOVED this and thought it was an adorable story and loved the characters and UGH. Way to go, Falon.

Just my Type is exactly what it says it is. There are no punches just a predictable romance trope. It's an enjoyable read and is great for those that love a good romcom!

I loved this book so much. I blazed through it and read it in under a day.

The nod to How to Lose a Guys in 10 Days was a fun aspect of Lana and Seth's story. Add in the fact that they used to date and had a bumpy break-up just adds to the tension and drama between these two. I love their coworkers and the slack chats. They hyped up the competition and helped the exes realize & act on their true feelings.

Lana's journey through this book was well written. I loved that therapy was mentioned and shown to be something positive. While her growth wasn't linear, it was what the character needed.

I definitely recommend this to fans of romance, second-chance romance, workplace romance, and lovers to enemies to lovers.

This book was absolutely fantastic and will definitely be in my top romances for the year. This book had me laughing and crying and I just didn't want it to end. But also, that ending/epilogue was perfection. I love Fallon Ballard's books and I can't wait to read more from her.

Cute mix of romance novel tropes - second chance romance, competition, forced proximity, etc. I enjoyed the characters and the romance well enough. Cute vibes all around. Nothing really sticks out as life altering or anything, but an enjoyable way to pass the time.

The primary trope in this novel is probably my favorite in the romance genre: second chance romance. Lana and Seth are the novels couple whose past history adds to the plot as it reveals their feelings, and overall timeline identifying their time together and apart. Both are writers whose goal is to have a column for The Los Angeles Chronicle. They are presented with a competition at their place of work where each has to complete a series of prompts addressing aspects of themselves within relationships. Can they complete them without falling in love once more ? Check it out!! Overall I enjoyed this and highly recommend it. I gave this a strong four out of five stars on goodreads.

My Review: Just My Type by Falon Ballard was hands down a 5-star wofi-ro. In truth, I regret not having read it earlier than now. It was, without a doubt, a real tearjerker. I cannot begin to convey just how emotional I found this book to be.

About the Book: What would you do if your ex - your first and truest love - suddenly and unexpectedly returned into your life? Would you act mature and show yourself as being friendly and forgiving? Would you punch his lights out for hurting you? Would you read him the riot act? Would you shut down and push him away? The alternative to any of those scenarios was too much for Lana Parker to consider when it came to Seth Carson.

About the Characters: Lana and Seth were pitted against each other for a dream journalistic job.

Lana: Dysfunctional family life, broken heart that never fully healed, serial monogamist, competent yet insecure, dreamer who longed for more

My Final Say: While this story was light and humorous in some ways, it was also very revealing in terms of character relationships. Featured relationships included partner-partner, mother-daughter, employer-employee, and more. It did a great job of showing what healthy and toxic relationships look like. It also showed how characters can change for the better and fight for what they want, despite past wrongs.

I'm such a sucker for second chance romance, especially with high school sweethearts and Just My Type was just what I wanted. Though it started as an enemies-to-lovers, I felt like the progression was really well paced—which doesn't happen all that often. I also appreciated the growth with our main character Lana as she goes to therapy and discovers that she needs to stand up for herself and her work.

Serial Monogamist and relationship advice columnist, Lana finds herself newly single yet again but doesn’t get the chance to grieve another failed relationship, as her ex (the one that got away) Seth shows up as the new journalist at the site she works at. Not only is Seth joining her at work but when their boss finds out about their shared history she pits them against each other in a competition for an upcoming promotion. As the competition heats up Lana and Seth are forced together to complete certain tasks together, which helps them get to know each other again and to heal old wounds.
I was excited for this book as the premise of it reminded me of one of my favorite Rom-Com movies, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and it did have a lot of similarities that I enjoyed throughout the book. I enjoyed the idea of the book more the execution of it, because I felt like I had read these characters before and their relationship arc seemed like one you read about in every other romance novel. The competition was fun to read and all of the little tasks that they were doing together throughout the book made for some fun banter. Half way through I had a hard time finding the motivation to finish because their boss who forces them to do everything together was super uncomfortable to read about and it made Lana feel too much like she didn’t have a back bone and couldn’t see the toxicity. That angle took some of the enjoyment out of the story for me as it didn’t even wrap up nicely but kind of just glazed over that. Overall though it was an okay book that just fell a little flat for me personally.

- the opening scene had me scoffing out loud

- healthy discussion around therapy & learning to be okay on your own
- easy, witty dialogue that sucked me in

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- single-POV. I would loved to have seen Seth's thoughts throughout.
- a sprinkling of misunderstanding / miscommunication
- all the pop-culture Marvel references

I LOVED this one from Falon Ballard. Sunny, smart and sexy all the way through. The characters were laugh-out-loud hilarious in spots (and even though the staff at ATF felt a little inflated, I want more Tessa/Rob STAT). Lana's emotional arc from her relationship to her mother to her romantic life felt complete and the details sprinkled throughout made these characters feel real and lived in.

As a former reporter, I can be kind of picky about how local journalists are portrayed, as well as the assignments they're given. While it seems like this is going to be another unethical jaunt into "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" territory, Ballard took it into another level and showcased how these situations are problematic. Lana's open thoughts about therapy and the on-page sessions were also a highlight.

Okay considering this was an ARC, I’m really late to the game (oops). And I’m actually so upset about it because this book was so good, I wish I had read it months ago so I could tell everyone to read it when it came out!

This was a really perfect second chance romance between Lana and her high school sweetheart, Seth, that I absolutely loved.

I’m obsessed with our main characters. Lana’s definitely a reader (can I please have her whole room, all the bookshelves included?) and I feel like we would be really good friends because we have so much in common. Also Seth is literally so sweet! He’s a great book boyfriend and I just loved reading about the two of them fall back in love, especially after their heartbreaking past.

This book was a romance, but it also had a really fun competition aspect to it, where Lana and Seth had to complete relationship tasks each week in order to get a job writing on a better paper. I thought this was so fun and really helped move the story along!

I just fell in love with these characters and their story, and I will now start telling everyone I know to read this book! I honestly couldn’t get enough of the story and will definitely be rereading it in the future.

I loved, loved, LOVED this book!

Thank you to Putnam and NetGalley for this eARC. Admittedly I got it months ago and I wish I hadn't waited so long to read it. Once I started it, I finished it within 2 days. It hooked me and never let go!

Things I loved:
-Lana, Seth, and every single character except you know who. They were all so real and funny and I absolutely loved their friendships. I found Lana to be so relatable and Seth had my hand on my chest constantly.
-I didn't find the "is this f*cking play about us?" elements to be too much and actually really enjoyed feeling like Lana was one of us. :)
-The tropes -- childhood friends to high school sweethearts to enemies to lovers!!!! Not to mention second chance romance, found family, workplace romance (ish), rivalry/competitiveness, and a self care/healing journey. So much goodness!
-Falon's sense of humor! I laughed a ton.
-The writing workshop scene was one of the sweetest things I've ever read.

Overall, I loved it. It was cute and thought-provoking and had me smiling constantly. Just a really enjoyable read. I highly recommend it and can't wait for more books from Falon!

I had high expectations for this one after reading Lease on Love by Falon Ballard and this book did not disappoint! It had the same rom-com quality to it and was just as feel-good as well! I especially loved how the main character, Lana, not only focused on her love interest Seth. This book was also about her figuring out how her relationship with her mother and close friends factors into what direction her life it taking. Overall really liked it!

This book was really cute, but parts of it were too cheesy/cringy for me personally to give it a higher rating. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, but it was so obvious that they were so in love with each other that I was frustrated at parts that they weren’t saying that and being open. But that’s just my opinion! The spicy scenes were great, and I believe their emotions (once they admitted them) and their character development felt very real.

Just My Type combines second chance romance with enemies to lovers to create a cute romance filled with workplace banter.

I love Falon Ballards writing...Lease on Love was one of my favorite romances of 2022, so I couldn't wait for to get my hands on this one.

Starting with the pros--per usual, I love the dialogue in her books. It's witty and bad me laughing out loud multiple times. I also adored the friend group.
I usually have a hard time with second change romances. When I don't get to see the relationship developing, I often have a hard time connecting with it. The author did a FANTASTIC job creating a second chance romance, but still giving us all the feels of the beginning of a relationship. Great job there.

With that said. I really disliked the whole boss dynamic. From the get go, I had bad feelings. I understand it's a romance that we shouldn't take too seriously, but this entire thing was an HR nightmare lol. If the roles were reversed and she had a male supervisor, pretty sure we wouldn't be reading a comedy.

Mostly I think enemies to lovers just might not be for me. The constant arguing just isn't my thing.

With all of that said, Falon Ballard is still a fave of mine, and I will forever read anything she published. :)
