Falon Ballard is becoming one of my favorites! This is a great lighthearted contemporary second-chance romance. Who doesn’t love love disguised as negative banter? These two characters were a pleasure to root for.

Last year I read Lease on Love and I LOVED IT SO MUCH! I was dyinggg to get my hands on a copy of Just My Type ~ and it was everything I hoped it would be. Thank you so much Putnam Books!!

This book is definitely a #romcom, because so many parts had me laughing and smiling! It is also very sweet and I loved the slow burn friendship/relationship that blossoms between Seth and Lana. I really annoyed Lana's journey as she finds her voice and finds herself. This book is fast paced, funny, sweet and romantic!

Read if you enjoy:
• second chance romance
• enemies to lovers
• workplace romance
• tons of chemistry
• slow burn
• rom coms

"When I decided to relocate and settle in one place, I didn’t even have to think about where to go. I’m the spinning needle of a compass and you’ve always been my true north.”

This book is due for publication 2/7/23 and I definitely recommend it!

Second chance romance isn’t my favorite trope, but this book was so interesting, I crushed through it in a day. It kept my attention the whole time and I didn’t once feel bored while reading it. The ending was perfect, and I don’t feel like it was rushed. I feel like it built up to the ending and they didn’t just abruptly decide they still loved each other.

I loved the slow burn in this and that it had a bit on enemies to lovers in it. The jealousy was also to die for.
I’d definitely recommend to romance and second chance romance fans.

Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is adorable and I had so much fun w it. Second chance romance, workplace enemies - and as usual Falon's amazing at writing an ensemble cast. Like what else could you want?

Just My Type is a second chance romance about high school sweethearts brought into a workplace rivalry.

All I have to say is, start a book by name dropping Elle Woods, and I’m yours.

Just My Type is both heartwarming and emotional. It was beautiful to unravel the stories of then and now and see how both characters have changed - and stayed the same - since they were last together. It is fun, hopeful, and loving. With her sophomore novel, Falon Ballard has solidified her voice and her status as an instant buy.

*Endless thanks to Netgalley, Penguin Group Putnam/G. P. Putnam’s Sons, and Falon Ballard for this wonderful ARC!

If I could sum this book into one single word, I would say adorable. I really loved and enjoyed it!!

This book was such a delightful take on workplace enemies to lovers, and it was just as good as one would expect from Falon Ballard. Witty, sharp, very deep. The focus isn’t entirely on the romance, though there is plenty, but instead focuses on the growth of the FMC. She really gets to know herself, and she doesn’t truly need the romance to get there. Beautiful.

This book was just alright for me. The obstacles between the leads were so surmountable - I just wanted them to communicate clearly and get together starting about halfway through the book!

Just My Type was a fun story of exes, always-in-a-relationship Lana and serial-bachelor Seth. The book starts with Lana getting dumped on the night that she thought she'd be getting engaged. To make matters worse, the next day her ex starts working as a writer at the same website as her. Soon the two are pitted against each other to see who will get a promotion. Lana must learn to be single and Seth must learn to be a boyfriend with each getting to make a list of tasks for the other. I enjoyed the interactions between the two characters as they worked through their lists and seeing how both Lana and Seth grew as the book progressed. If you enjoy enemies to lovers and second chance romances, then this is the book for you! Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the eARC.

okay THIS BOOK! y’all miss falon writes some of the most relatable characters ever 🤍 i adored lease on love and let me just say falon’s second novel did not disappoint! i wish this was a movie because i’d watch it all the time. it was serving how to lose a guy in 10 days, which is one of my faves. i loved this read so much! 🤭 thank you @emil.yslibrary for buddy reading with me 🤍 ily you are my found family 🥲

lana as a main character is so relatable pls. an R2-D2 text tone, say less. she had me giggling, i adore her internal monologue a lot. she felt so genuine, i always love the pop culture references in falon’s writing bc same. star wars, marvel, bravo. her characters are written for me 🤍seth 😮‍💨🔥 omg pls he is soooo swoony! this man was saying some things that had me 👀🥵 he comes off as quite protective which i always love seeing. their banter was top tier!! 🥰 for real the competition aspect of the story really gave them an opportunity to sass each other and i was eating it up. they clearly had such a connection from before, i enjoyed watching them both squirm a bit 😂 and seeing them grow was so cute 🥹🥲

falon always finds a way to incorporate found family, and she did not miss in this book at all. the friendships are always my favorite parts of her stories 🥲 i adored the group chat moments and clips of their articles they had written, it added more to the reading experience ☺️ i highly recommend this book! i can see falon becoming an auto-buy author for me, she does rom-coms perfectly and i’m always smiling while i read her books 🥰

thank you netgalley for the arc of this book!

a fun, feel good romance that i found myself being unable to put down. i'm a sucker for second chance romances, so this book truly was right up my alley! i loved both main characters, and their dynamic together along with the inclusion of the side friends built such a fun environment to read about.

some things i wish were different would be the use of pop culture references (i just think they age the book–it won't hold up in a few years' time), and the way some of the subplots were wrapped up, notably lana's personal life. i feel like she didn't grow the way i wanted her to, but i had fun regardless!

I was so excited to be approved for this book and it did not let me down. Dare I say Just My Type was even better than Lease on Love? While reminiscent of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, it is a charming story in its own right. I loved Seth and Lana and the second (third) chance. They had great chemistry and though it was fairly obvious where it was going to end up, the journey was fun to be along for.

What happens when the only thing that stands in the way of your dream job is your ex? A whole line of comedic events that lead the two former lovers into a whirlwind of love, hate, intrigue and imbalance. Pitted against each other by Lana’s boss, Lana and Seth must complete a list to prove they are no longer a playboy or serial monogamist, oh and did I mention write about it for the whole world to see? Thrust together for most of the competition, our heroes toe the line between love and hate, only to find maybe they didn’t lose feelings for each other after all. Falon Ballard will get you swept up in the lives of Lana and Seth as they navigate through their lists of challenges and their past feelings.

Its hard not to get caught up in the hurt of Lana and feel completely justified in her pain, until Seth reveals his side of the story. I was completely thrown into a tizzy during the one night stand challenge when a secret tattoo is revealed and practically wept with joy and sorrow at the meaning. It was such a beautiful way for the characters to come together in their past while moving forward towards a future. It was so aggravating being the reader at some points because as much as the characters communicate their feelings to their larger audience, they stubbornly refused to directly confront each other with their feelings. This love/hate will they/wont they trope does so well in this story and doesn’t feel like something you have read before. Its an honest take on how every story has two sides and how they come together to paint a whole picture. I really enjoyed the lightheartedness of “Just My Type”, and getting pulled along on the LA tour that is Lana and Seth. I would recommend this story the next time you want to get lost in a romance, and also enjoy some good nerd refences.

I received an advance copy of this book on NetGalley, in exchange for my honest opinion.

4.5 Rounded to 5!
Such a great read!
The first pages of the book had me hooked! I had to see what was around the corner. While some pieces I found predictable rom-com, a few spots had me surprised and not ready! I loved the self reflect of our main character and how she was able to find herself - or really see herself for the person she had become.

Plus, the epilogue, while short, was just what the story needed to wrap it up.

I was given a ARC copy on Netgalley and in return gave my honest feedback.

Nooo why did I I have to FINISH IT SO FAST!!!! Dammit I want more UGH

Okay but for real I fucking love Falon’s writing like a whole lot. She writes the funniest lines, the best FMC and the slow burn always hits just right. I will forever be jealous of her talent and hope she writes 800 more books so I can read them all

4.5 out of 5. Such a good rom com. This had a how to loose a guy in 10 days vibe and that is always a good thing. I loved all the characters and I love how wonderfully the characters developed through the tasks, the book and their interactions. Their self awareness was cute and genuine and i fell right with them. A must read romance for me. Also how could I not love a book when one of the characters states: I've taken solace in pop culture since I was young and this blog has become the place where I get to show my appreciation. - yup felt seen.

Just My Type was one of those books that had me racing the “time remaining” section on my kindle, it was that good. I loved the concept of the opposite dating competition, the banter, the text/Slack conversations, all of it. This book was so enjoyable and fun, but even with being a fun read, it didn’t feel surface level. The connection between Lana and her friends and Lana and Seth was palpable, and that is hard to get right, but I think the author nailed it. She even handled the often poorly done miscommunication trope very well, without being heavy handed or obtuse, and the characters GREW. It was wonderful. 5/5 👏🏻👏🏻

Just My Type by Falon Ballard is absolutely one of best rom-coms I’ve read this year! It is adorable and pulled at my heart strings from the first few chapters. Seth and Lana are high school sweethearts who break up when they leave for college. Twelve years later, Seth shows up in LA as Lana’s coworker. Both Seth and Lana are relatable and likeable. The banter between them was filled with so much feeling it made my heart ache. I couldn’t put the book down!

This is the second book by Falon Ballard and she has become and absolute must read author. Her stories come to life and are so enjoyable to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
