Once Upon A Royal Christmas is the second Christmas Princess book I have read written by Teri Wilson. Published by Hallmark I hope that they will consider making this into one of their Christmas movies. One sweet woman who pretends to be a princess at children’s parties and what one snooty real life prince together for the holiday festivities what could possibly work between these two?
A sweet story with characters learning to see beyond the obvious to the magical. This is a sweet romance that will keep you reading with all the romantic and holiday feels. Terri Wilson and Hallmark give us readers a sweet magical hit to kick off the holiday season.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved it, it was like reading a hallmark movie at christmas the overly sweet and cute predictable storyline exactly what i was in the mood for. If you like cheesy christmas movies then this is the book for you. Guarenteed HEA.
Once Upon a Royal Christmas by Teri Wilson
Hallmark Christmas publication. Contemporary romance.
Princess Snowflake, aka Gracie Clark, needs a business loan but the bank doesn’t see the viability of party planning. So Gracie and Clara travel to San Glacera for the Royal Winter Wonderland event, with Gracie performing as Princess Snowflake to win a $30,000 prize. San Glacera has their own Prince and Royal Palace and hope Princess Snowflake will boost their tourism.
Adorable holiday story with the prince and princess falling in love, a charming King Charles spaniel named Mittens and a surprise puppy. Princess Snowflake charms all the kingdom’s children as well as it’s Prince. The love story is a bit bumpy and sweet and touching.
I read an ebook copy of the story first and appreciated the chapter titles and the sentimentality.
🎧 I listened (2nd reading) to an audiobook copy narrated by Brittany Pressley who performed with the drama, passion, and joy I expect from a Hallmark story. The audiobook narrator excelled at the humor and emotions of Gracie while also keeping pace with the worry of Nick for his homeland. I listened to the story at 1.3 which matched conversational speed.
Bonus: Royal Hot Chocolate recipe at the end after a short epilogue.
4.5
I received a copy of this from NetGalley, Hallmark Publishers and Dreamscape Media.
I am always happy and filled with joy and smiles on my face when I read a romance book from Hallmark. This book was just the perfect way to spend a few hours.
A romance with Prince Nickolas who falls for Gracie who pretends to be an ice Princess for children’s parties. The writing is perfect – the feelings of romance and wonder fill the pages. The romance was there, and it got better and better with each page I read.
When you need a warm hug from the pages of a romance book this is the one you need to pick up and read.
Thank you NetGalley, Teri Wilson and Hallmark Publishing for the copy of Once Upon A Royal Christmas. This is my personal review.
“She pretends to be a princess at children’s parties.
But can she melt a real prince’s frosty heart?“
I have a special place in my heart for Hallmark Christmas stories.
It’s not that I’m blind to their shortfalls, I’m just more likely to make allowances, because of The Christmas Spirit (read: spiked eggnog), or whatever.
For instance, while I know that there is zero percent chance reigning monarchs and the fruit of their royal loins, would walk, without the benefit of a security detail &/or Pope Mobile, amongst the people, I’ll allow it.
How else will they enjoy a carriage ride, and be able to give out candy canes to deserving street urchins?
I know that no one in their right mind would donate $30k to a dog rescue, particularly when the heir apparent is RIGHT THERE with all his INHERITED WEALTH, but how else will we know that the heroine is kind and generous and LOVES ALL THE PUPPIES?
All in all, the story was super-charming.
Grumpy Sunshine has always been a favourite trope. Throw in some Enemies to Lovers, and dashes each of Forced Proximity and Impossible Love, and I’m first in line.
7.5/10
Thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Hallmark Publishing for this holly jolly ARC.
A fun, sweet love story set in a lovely European Christmas setting with royalty, friendship, & family. A Hallmark Publishing gem. Once Upon A Royal Christmas has a nice, easy to follow storyline in this feel good love story. Do yourself & read it! It'll make you smile & want to enjoy a cup of that delicious royal hot chocolate.
I LOVED this book! It is a fun sweet read that leaves you with that warm cozy feeling. If you've never read a book by Teri Wilson, you are in for a treat. This book is absolutely fabulous!!
I received a complimentary copy from Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.
This is the perfect Hallmark movie in the form of a book 🥰
I just smiled through the story because I could see everything in front of me, like a movie. Sometimes a book finds you at the exact time you need it...
I'm actually a bit shocked that I enjoyed it so much...I requested the arc because I like Terri's books but I loved this one. I know, I'm a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies and books 😍
Once Upon a Royal Christmas by Teri Wilson. What a charming and sweet story.
We meet Gracie who owns and runs a Princess Party company in Colorado and she is, of all things, Princess Snowflake, friend of reindeer, daughter of Frost and Spring, granddaughter of Father Christmas!! Gracie works so hard and is trying to build her business but can’t get a bank to loan her any money to do so.
Far away in San Glacera, the Royal family consists of the King, the Queen, Prince Nicholas and Princess Emilie and their adorable dog Mittens. Princess Emilie has an idea to run a contest, bring the winner to the castle, to grow their beloved village with more tourism and truly enjoy the holiday traditions the kingdom has always had and she thinks she has just the right thing! Bring over a pretty pretend Princess so everyone will want to meet her, particularly the children, and this just might be the thing to restore the happy community Christmas they use to have.
I love the whole idea of bringing a pretend princess over, with her oversized gown and pretend snowflakes in her pocket that she spreads everywhere! When she wins the contest and makes her way to the Kingdom, she also wins the hearts of everyone especially the children and maybe also a REAL prince along the way!!!
It’s such a cute story with beloved characters and the author makes every scene believable. The dogs in the story add a lot of fun and puppy cuteness which I really liked!
There's fun banter and of course, cute Christmas decorating ideas and festive food ideas like hot cocoa with a surprise at the bottom!!!
I’m not one to tell the whole story, but I will say that if you read this book, you will want to wear a Princess Gown and try to visit a place as magical as San Glacera!!!
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! I LOVED this book. Some might call it cheesy and a little over the top, but it was just what I needed to escape reality for a little while and live in a fantasy world that every little girl dreams of when she is young. A real prince, snow covered alps, a beautifully decorated castle, a Christmas tree maze (think corn maze with Christmas trees), decadent hot chocolate, a snowball fight, cute and cuddly rescue puppies, glass slippers, a horse drawn carriage ride while giving out candy canes, all make this romantic book a grown woman's fairy tale dreams come true. Gracie has a business known as Perfect Party Princesses where she plays the part of the Snow Queen for parties of all types. When her business partner decides to enter Gracie into a contest to play her part as the Snow Queen in the lovely kingdom of San Glacera, she never dreams she will win the part. The royal family and their associates feel they need something to boost their economy at Christmas and bring more visitors to their city. Gracie reluctantly agrees to go, but only because of the large cash prize that she will bring back to her business. She gets a little more than she bargained for once she arrives. I loved the character of Gracie. She had a true heart of gold. She cared about those around her, and always stayed true to herself and her values. I could envision her floating around in her bodacious gown spreading joy to all she came in contact with. Then you have Prince Nicolas (the real prince) who has been named the Abominable Snow Prince due to his iciness. At first appearance, I was not sure whether I liked him or not, but I soon realized that there was a lot more depth to this character than first appearances showed. Call me a child, but I was completely immersed into this fairy tale romance with all the right touches of snow, a little humor and, of course, the Christmas season. It was a divine story to escape into for a few hours, and set the mood for my Christmas spirit. If you need a light, clean romance set at Christmas, you will enjoy this book. Teri Wilson has been pegged the queen of royal romance, and this book will help you realize why this title has been bestowed on her.
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I absolutely adore Teri Wilson. This is only the second book I've read by her but the Once Upon A Royal series is absolutely phenomenal.
Right away I could tell I was going to like Grump Nick. I also was hoping to get a lot of Jaron and Emilie in the story. I absolutely cannot put the book down. I've been so infatuated with it, I've almost forgot about my morning sickness. I'm not normally a fan of the grumpy sunshine trope. But Teri Wilson really knows how to write a story. I absolutely cannot stop smiling. Also, the food she describes is making me so hungry while also wanting to bake all the Christmas cookies. I loved this story so much I literally downloaded it, read it and then completed it. I cannot wait for her next book.
There may or may not have been tears running down my face towards the end, I'm just going to blame the hormones.
This is a lovely fairy tale romance ( a good fluffy and light book).
Gracie is a party princess that owns a small business, where she and her employees dress up as princesses or other characters for parties and such.
She is Princess Snowflake (love the name).
She is trying to get a loan to be able to hire more full-time employees. But unfortunately the bank keeps turning her down.
That is when her best friend signs her up for a contest. The winner needs to help the royal family a winter festival. But they win 30K as well.
The amount that Gracie needs to grow her business.
When she arrives, she meets the Prince, Prince Nikolas. But she does not know that he is the prince.
While he thinks she is a real princess. He escorts her to many events that are planned for the festival.
And feelings start to blossomed.
But Gracie has her business in the US but Nikolas has his duties at home.
This book is for the romantic at heart.
I loved Once Upon a Royal Summer and knew that this book was going to be a must read on my list.
I really loved the magical of Gracie and what she does for a living as a "Party Princess", but its really so much more once people truly understand. I could really relate to her and the way the others treated her because of her job. I enjoyed the world building of San Glacera and wish is was real, because I would definitely have it as a top place to visit.
The banter and chemistry between Gracie and Prince Nick jumped off the page. I loved the meet cute in the market and then again with the snowball fight in the maze. I need to see this as a movie! If you are looking for a cozy read that wraps you in a warm blanket on a cold winters night this it.
Thank you Hallmark so much for not only bringing happy Christmas stories to our tv’s every year but also giving us books to lighten up the holiday spirit. I had read one of Teri Wilson’s stories before and this one doesn’t disappoint. I love how Gracie can keep true to herself and truly believe in how magical her character truly is for those around her. For Gracie Princess Snowflake is so much more then just a fairytale princess, she is a model, a friend, and someone who shows that magic does exist in the world. I just love that someone can create something so powerful and feel so strongly about it that Princess Snowflake goes from being someone in a costume to being someone people can relate with. I also love that both Gracie and Nikolas both have personal issues that they can work out together and that learning to trust each other helps them complete the others half that was missing. This is just such a lovely story.
Thank you so much to Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.
I was always going to love this book.
Number one, who doesn't love a good hallmark romance?
Number two, it's a royal hallmark romance, which just happen to be my favorites.
Number three, there's the whole grumpy-sunshine trope.
That's all you need to know to love this book and read it.
If you’re looking for a fun, light read with all the Hallmark festive good vibes and a heavy touch of royal fairytale, then you’re in for a treat with this piece. It’s an easy, fluffy read to put you in a good mood. I enjoyed this new book in the “Once upon a Royal” series even better than the previous one because the stakes are higher and there’s actual conflict. It includes all the codes of the genre and the characters aren’t too caricatural. The style is easy and flowy. It’s corny and super sweet, but it delivers on its promise of a feel-good romance.
I’m a mega Hallmark movie fan - all year, not just the Christmas ones. The storylines adapted from Teri Wilson’s books are among my top favorites, so I truly cannot believe it’s taken me this long to actually read one of her books! I’ve eyed all of her titles for ages, but this is the first I’ve read. I’m super excited to see this one on-screen now!
The plot of this book is extremely cute - you can definitely see why Hallmark has picked up so many to adapt to their movies. It is pure bliss (lol, that’s the name of one of the dogs in Unleashing Mr. Darcy, my top fave of her stories that Hallmark adapted and that I certainly have to read, soon!!). The characters, while seeming a bit fantastical (which is always the charm in the movies), also seem real and like someone you want to be friends with, or strive to be like.
In this one, Gracie plays Princess Snowflake at childrens parties. She dresses up and brings magic into their lives. She runs an extremely successful business and employs several others doing the same thing, with her childhood best friend helping with the logistical side of things. Best friend Clara learns about a small European country running a contest to spend Christmas with their Royal family to drum up tourism, and enters Gracie to play the part of a fake Royal in their Christmas winter wonderland. When she wins, she heads off to play Princess Snowflake with a fake Prince Charming, but inadvertently bumps into the real, grumpy, crown Prince “Abominable Snow Prince” Nick - and of course he also mistakenly identifies her as the Princess from another country he’s supposed to be entertaining.
Many hijinx ensue and like all of the Hallmark movies I love, it was a brilliant time - easy to read in a single sitting and a great recommendation for one and all! Great, clean, Royal Hallmark Christmas fun!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing, and this Is my honest feedback.
I am posting an honest review after reading an advance reader copy of this story.
Teri Wilson has become my queen of royal romance. She knows just what I want to read, like she's in my mind. A handsome prince gets involved with a commoner, yes please. Gracie owns a party princess business, she's such a perfect princess, everyone loves her Princess Snowflake character. Such a sweet lady who wins a contest to be the main attraction in San Glaceras Christmas festival, a tiny country with a grim prince, Prince Nikolas. He's so serious but he really loves his family and his country. He's snobbish at first but Gracie worms her way into his heart & we get the HEA we always want.

Gracie pretends to be a princess at children’s parties. But can she melt a real prince’s frosty heart?
A perfect Hallmark story of buisness owner down on her luck getting an opportunity of a lifetime to go meet a real prince and possibly win some money to fund her struggling children's party business.
Typical Hallmark average small town girl falls in love with a majestic prince. Something that could happen to us all I’m sure! But Wilson does a great job of putting the love, humour and of course good old hallmark charm into a cute little romance that won’t disappoint any chick lit fans out there!
Once Upon A Royal by Christmas Teri Wilson is a cute fairy tale romance that is light and fluffy and perfect for anyone who enjoys Hallmark Christmas movies.
Story Recap:
Gracie is a party princess. She owns a small business, where she and her employees, dress up as princesses and other characters for parties, openings, etc. Her Princess name is Princess Snowflake. She’s trying to get a loan to hire more full-time employees, but the bank keeps turning her down. So her best friend enters her into a contest, and the winner helps the Royal Family of San Glacera host their winter festival and wins $30k, the exact amount Grace needs to help her business grow.
When Gracie arrives in San Glacera, she meets Prince Nikolas, she doesn’t realize he is the prince, and he thinks she’s a real princess. Prince Nikolas escorts her to many of the events planned for the winter festival, and feeling starts between them. But, Gracie has her business in the US, and Nikolas must stay in San Glacera.
My Thoughts:
Once upon a Christmas is escapism, pure and simple. It’s light, fluffy, and predictable, but also very comforting and entertaining. I enjoyed all the characters, especially her best friend Cara. I liked that the main character has the job of being a princess, it sounds like fun. Also, Nickolas has a sweet little dog named Mittens, a King Charles spaniel, who practically steals the show.
These characters are fun and interesting, and just a bit predictable. But, that’s what I love about a romance book like this one, where the predictability is so comforting.
One of my issues with books featuring royalty is the thought of a prince coming in and “saving” the poor commoner women, like Cinderella. But, in this book, you’ll find a spirited and self-sufficient heroine, who doesn’t really need saving.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend Once Upon a Christmas to anyone who enjoys romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
