Christmas at the Amish Market by Shelley Shepard Gray. We are introduced to Wesley and Liesl who have been together for years and are close, it seems, to getting engaged. But, do they even really like each other very much?
When Wesley has to take over the family market because of his dad’s health, he is ready and willing. He enjoys helping people find what they need. As Christmas approaches the market is beginning to get really busy. Liesl feels isolated and lonely, so she enlists the help of her Aunt Jennie to help at the market. And Wesley is surprised by his feelings for Jennie.
Things shortly begin to unravel. As Liesl has been helping handsome widower Roland and his little daughter Lilly more often now. It seems like things are happening fast and Lilly may just fall for Liesl as well.
The scenes at The Pinery tree maze were described so well, I wanted to break out the hot cocoa and put Christmas lights everywhere!!
This story is so charming and sweet. It was an easy read and swept me away to their world. I really enjoyed it.
And thank you Hallmark, for the Cincinnati-Style Chili recipe!! Wow!!!
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.
, I always look forward Shelley Shephard Gray books, this was a very sweet Christmas story, enjoyed it very much
I really liked this book. Amish romance is one of my favorite genres. When Wesley has to take over the family market because of his dad’s health, he does it happily. He loves helping people find what they need. As Christmas approaches things get really busy. So busy in fact, Wesley’s long time girlfriend Liesl is frustrated with always being in second place.
Liesl convinces her Aunt Jenny to help out at the store so she can have more time with Wesley. Things begin to unravel from there. Especially when Liesl decides her widowed neighbor Roland needs help with his daughter Lily.
I loved watching the growth of the characters and their reliance on God. They were sure to ask for directions before jumping into a decision.
Shelley Shepard Gray’s Christmas at the Amish Market is a great way to get myself into the upcoming Holiday season. I thought it was a sweet and heartwarming Amish tale. I loved it. Five stars.
I'm a sucker for a sweet Christmas love story and that's exactly what you'll get when you read Shelley Shepard Gray's Christmas at the Amish Market!
When Wesley meets his girlfriend Liesl's Aunt Jenny he's surprised by the feelings he has for her. And Liesl has been helping handsome widower Roland and his little daughter Lily more and more. It may seem like a fast romance but I know people who have had similar stories. This is a fun book to read at Christmastime!
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

When Wesley's father experiences a heart attack and goes to stay with family in another state, Wesley is left to manage the family market on his own during the busy Christmas season. The task proves to be overwhelming, so his girlfriend Liesl suggests that her aunt Jenny step in to help at the market. Jenny proves to be a welcome helper in more ways than business, and soon Wesley and Jenny cannot deny their growing attraction to each other. But what about Liesl, whom Wesley has been courting for a long time?
Meanwhile, Liesl has been helping her friend Roland and his little girl, as they try to navigate through the death of Roland's wife. Soon Liesl becomes an indispensable part of their household. But how will Liesl tell Wesley, when everyone expects a forthcoming proposal of marriage?
While the plot may seem predictable for some readers, there are enough twists and turns to maintain interest. The characters are realistically portrayed and experience the same troubles and frustrations most people find in life. I only wish the story had gone on to tell the reader more about the two couples after Christmas and in the future.
This novel is a clean and sweet read about Amish people at Christmas time, with no violence, strong language, or descriptive intimacy. Readers who enjoy a satisfying Christmas story set in an Amish community will treasure this addition to their Christmas reading list. The author is a skilled and experienced writer of Amish fiction, and has again produced a delightful story for her many fans.
I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
This book has all of my favourites: Christmas, Amish, and romance, and I was eager to read it. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near as good as I had hoped it would be, especially after reading an earlier novel by this same author.
The positives: Set at Christmastime, the story focuses on one couple at a crossroads in their relationship, a character who is broken-hearted, and a single father raising his daughter. The plot is interspersed with all the good Christmas trimmings and feelings.
The negatives: There is a lot of emotional cheating that takes place in this book which I found very hard to connect to the Amish characters. It seemed very out of place and disjointed. To me, emotional cheating is still cheating and it is not something that I expect to read within the pages of a clean and wholesome romance book. It is for this reason alone that my rating was lowered.
The verdict: This book is a very light read, and if you can look past the emotional cheating aspect, it is a lovely way to spend an hour or two.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in return for my honest review.
I received this book from netgalley for a review. I liked this book alot. Not quite 5 stars. 4.5 from me. It is well written but the characters are a little quirky. I love Shelley Shepard Gray books. I have always loved amish books as well. This books flowed well most of the time. I did have trouble connecting with Liesl. The images it made in my mind was just like watching a Hallmark movie. Especially the Piney tree maze.
Liesl and Wesley have been courting for years. But no proposal has been made and they don’t seem very much in love, which is obvious to everyone – except them. When Wesley hires Liesl’s aunt to work at his Amish Market, and Liesl starts spending a lot of time helping a local widower with his young daughter, things between them can’t help but change. Through the ups and downs of their relationship, they finally realize the plans God has for them may be different from what they first anticipated, but also better than anything they could try to do on their own.
Reading this book was like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie in my head. Even though I knew how it was going to end in general, it was all about the journey, not the destination. Getting there was the fun part, with its twists and turns. It was a very enjoyable, clean read. I will be looking for more books by this author. If you read Amish fiction by authors such as Beverly Lewis, Tracy Fredrychowski, and Wanda Brunstetter, you will like this book.

This novel was full of the Christmas Spirit. Everything drew me in from the beautiful cover, the delightful Amish Christmas story that graced the pages to the recipe for Cincinnati Chili at the end of the book. I felt like the characters embraced me as I read the book. I thought the book was romantic, Christmassy, entertaining, original and easy to read. The Author has long been a favorite and I’m never disappointed with any of her books that I’ve read.
Liesl Fisher and Wesley Raber are an Amish couple that have been dating for years. Something keeps Wesley from proposing to Liesl although he loves her. They don’t get to spend a lot of time together because Wesley is busy managing his parents market store and Liesl is a busy seamstress. The Christmas season is very busy at the market and Wesley needs to hire a new assistant to help out during the holidays. Liesl’s Aunt is available to help at the market but Wesley is expecting an older woman. Aunt Jenny Kurtz isn’t an older woman and she’s beautiful and the two will be spending a lot of time together. What was Liesl thinking when she arranged for her Aunt to help her boyfriend at his Amish Market during the Christmas shopping rush?
I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction. If you enjoy Hallmark movies you will love this book. It’s release date is 11/8/22.

Another great book by Shelley Shepard Gray. Gets you ready for Christmas. This is the story of Wesley who his parents and him run a Amish Marketplace. When Wesley's father becomes ill and they move away so he can be cared for Wesley is left to run the business. The holiday's are the busiest time for the store. Wesley has a girlfriend Liesl who thinks they will get engaged at Christmas. When Wesley has no time for Liesl do to the store she gets him help her Aunt Jenny. Will Liesl and Wesley get engaged or does God have other plans for them? Cute story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book. Enclosed is my own opinion of it.
I received a free copy of, Christmas at the Amish Market, by Shelley Shepard Gray, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The Amish have always fascinated me, they way they live, so very differently then the rest of us. Christmas is such a special time, for the Amish and for us. I really enjoyed this story. Liesl is such a sweet soul, always willing to help others out. Roland, Wesley, Jenny, and little Lilly, round the cast of characters in this book. I really enjoyed this read, and the recipe in the back of the book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book was like reading a Hallmark movie. It is a wonderful book that can be read at any time, it’s so delightful. It’s a sweet closed door romance book that deals with family, forgiveness faith and match making.
Shelley Shepard Gray brings us Liesl and Wesley. Wesley is in charge of the family store during the busy Christmas time while his family has gone to take care of his father after his health scare. This leaves little time for Wesley to court Liesl. In order to help him out, Liesl brings over her aunt Jenny who is only a few years older than herself. Meanwhile, Liesl is enjoying her time with widow Roland and his daughter. What will the fates have in store for this foursome?
Shelley Shepard Gray brings us a story of love and obligation. Will obligation trump over love, or will love conquer all? Shelley brings you along as we get to see what these four characters do and how they feel. As we learn more about them, we want to know what they are going to do next. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this privilege.
I always enjoy reading Shelley Shepard Gray books. This was a very enjoyable book and I highly recommend it.
Wesley, Liesl, and her aunt Jenny each have life issues they are trying to overcome. Wesley is in charge of running his family’s market while his dad recovers from heart problems. Liesl, Wesley’s girlfriend is upset because he has to spend so much time work, so she gets her aunt Jenny to come to help Wesley at the store. Jenny is recovering from a hard breakup and only wants to throw herself into working to try to get over the heartbreak.
Romance, humor, difficulty with family, forgiveness, faith, and matchmaking lend to making this so enjoyable.
Thanks to Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.
A very nice read from one of my favorite authors.
I really like the name Liesel. So different and one you don't hear very often.
The plot was written well and I loved Wesley and Liesel, Jenny and Aunt Laura.
I didn't really think it was fair for Wesley's parents to drop all that responsibility on him all at once but all in all I'm glad he finally woke up lol! Some things can't be helped I guess .
Jenny reminds me of my husband. If she's not constantly busy she doesn't know what to do with herself. I don't blame Jenny's mom for trying at least.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year and I enjoyed reading the Amish version of it.
So very different than our own.
I highly recommend this sweet novel for anyone who loves Amish fiction.
It's a can't put down book!
5 stars for a well written story and for keeping me engaged!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I always enjoy Shelley Shepard Gray’s book and this one did not disappoint.Wesley and Liesl are dating. Wesley is very busy with his family’s market because of his father’s heart attack. After Wesley forgets about a special date, Liesl asks her Aunt Jenny to help Wesley out. She hopes now to have more time for courting and maybe a marriage proposal. In the meantime, Liesl has been going over to Roland’s house. He is a widower with a four year old daughter. She loves hanging out with them. This is a feel good romance book with a lot of feel good moments. Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing. This is my own opinion.
I am such a fan of Hallmark novels and movies. I was really excited to read this novel and was very thankful to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC. This novel is everything I love about Hallmark. It is clean, sweet, and very light. It's a romance set within an Amish town and has several Amish characters. One couple is at a crossroad, one character is broken hearted and trying to move on and there is a single father trying his best to raise his young daughter. This is filled with the Christmas spirit and all that Christmas is centered around. I would definitely recommend this and would read it again.
No matter what culture or background the course of true love is a challenge, but so worth it when it is sorted. Shelley Shepard Gray's 'Christmas at the Amish Market' is a delightful tale of an aunt and her niece realizing what and who are important in their lives. I was entranced by the look into an Amish community and can recommend this book to anyone who wants to be exposed to a tender, loving story of family.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Thank you hallmark publishing for allowing me to read Shelly Shepherd Gray upcoming Christmas book, Christmas at the Amish market.
Wesley and Liesl had been dating for years, but for some reason Wesley could not seem to ask her to marry him. He was always much too busy running his family’s market especially during the holidays.
When Wesley‘s father had a heart attack and he had to take over the business while his dad healed, liesl suggested that her aunt Jenny could come and help Wesley out at the market. Wesley had no idea that Jenny was young, he just assumed that she was an older lady. Boy was that a surprise.
As always Shelley was able to tie the whole well-written story together with humor, faith in God, and love.
Don’t miss the opportunity to read this beautiful 5-star story which will be released November 8, 2022.
