I enjoyed listening to this audiobook at a time when I felt that I did not have much work/life balance in my life and was unsure of what to do. The advice that Sommerville gives is helpful though there were certain sections that I felt that I could not connect with. Overall, I enjoyed this book and felt that the advice was helpful, and I look forward to reading or “listening” to more books by Sommerville!
Thank you to the publisher, Storyfire Ltd, and NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions are unbiased and my own.
A very insightful and inspiring listen. The listening experience was pleasant due to the narrator, who I enjoyed.
I thought this book would be more universal but I felt a bit left out as it was targeted specifically towards mothers. I did finish listening to it, because the synopsis did originally interest me, but I never got to a point where I felt I could relate to the content.
I related a lot to this audiobook as I used to have a very toxic and awful job. I wish that I had been able to listen to it back then because I think it would have empowered me further. However, that said I still feel like I got a lot from this. It's really helped me to better understand the signs of burnout and how to hopefully take better care of myself as I move forward in my new position. Looking forward to more from this author in the future.
I’m so grateful that I got to read this text. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to making some videos for my TIkTok and other social media channels to recommend it to my friends and followers. It was an excellent read! 5/5 stars. I’m going to write a longer and more detailed review on my Goodreads and TikTok and I will link back once I’ve posted.
I really enjoyed this as an audiobook. It relates to me a lot right now and where I'm at in life with my job choices. I feel empowered by this and it relaxes me when I've had a really bad day at work on my drive home. I think this is entertaining, informational, and very honest with how life and work go and how to change it. Highly recommend for those that are not happy in their current job/lifestyle.
**Thank you to NetGalley for sending me this early on audiobook to write an honest review!**
I listened to The Big Quit on audio. I really liked the narrator and I found many of the stories Anniki shared relatable and helpful. If you read the blurb and think “ooh this might be for me”, I would check this book out. My main reservation is that most of the examples of aspirational woman and some of the techniques assume that you are a white middle class woman. There were a number of times where I felt that the advice was not applicable to women like me of other demographics. I was also sad that women who were not relatively wealthy, thin, and with white were not presented as desirable. There’s lots to recommend this book but I felt like I was not the audience for it.
**Listened to the audio book**
I really enjoyed this book. It was so much more that I originally thought it would be. It really looked in depth at women in the workplace and had lots of research that I found fascinating.
I got a lot from this book, and as I say, it's so much more than just 'quitting a job'- definitely recommend.
Could really relate to the author and her story, so many great strategies and solutions to be able to plan the big quit form work. The book is written from the heart and experiences lived and I felt it wasn't just me and felt very reassured. The narration was good and will go back and re read some of the chapters again. Ideal for any women in the corporate world and trying to make sense of it all and understand the benefit. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.
