And I Think About You written by Rosanne L. Kurstedt with art by Ya-Ling Huang is a lovely and heartwarming picture book about a loving mother-child relationship. The sweet storyline is easy-to-follow and I absolutely love the beautiful watercolour art!

This easy-to-read book follows a day in the life of a working mother bear and her school child as they go about their separate experiences. Mom spends her workday completing various activities: she has lunch with a friend, sends emails, presents a project, and waters her plants. Her tasks remind her of her child and she imagines activities with the little bear. Meanwhile, the bear cub engages in relatable kid activities like engaging in story time, having a grand messy time in art class, and playing with friends in the sandbox. At the end, there is a lovely surprise for mom and us readers!

Kurstedt’s writing is simple, straightforward, and child-friendly. This is a real, positive, and relatable story that will surely resonate with working mothers as well as children experiencing school for the first time. I love the sweet and comforting repetition of the phrase “And I Think About You” which will make this book a great treat to read out loud. The repetition will help to comfort preschoolers who may be experiencing separation anxiety from their parents during the day. I like that the narration also includes lots of fun sound effects to replicate. This will really appeal to children and will make their reading experience even more enjoyable!

I could spend all day gushing about Huang’s beautiful artwork! You can feel the love and warmth on every single page. The full-page and full-colour illustrations wonderfully support the written story. The soft and gentle watercolours are so lovely to look at! The adorable animal characters have happy and friendly faces. I especially love that Mom and Baby Bear are both so cute and fuzzy. I love that the school is as wonderfully and carefully rendered as Mom’s office. I also love the movement and life of the children’s outdoor play scenes.

🧸🧸🧸🧸🧸 out of 5 bears!

A cute book to share with your young readers. What do our kids think about when they are separated from their parents? What do parents think about when they are separated from their kids. Parents are wondering what their children are doing. In all the things a parent as to do, they are thinking about you. A great book to read to remind children that they are valued and loved.

A special thank you to Kids Can Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

Sometimes, when I drop my daughter off at school, she's screaming and crying for me to stay. I wonder if she knows that I think about her throughout my work day. This book is about a mom going through her work day and thinking about her child, and it also shows her child enjoying their day.

This is a great book to read to your child who just wants to be with you.

I also loved the art style and color choices.

The text in this book was simple enough for young readers.

This book is so so sweet. The way this working mom is portrayed will totally melt your heart and makes you want to read this story over and over again.
The story starts with a mamma bear and her child preparing for their day. After saying goodbye to her kid at school, her workday starts. No matter if she is reading her emails, watering the plants, or tidying her desk, she always thinks of her little bear and the joy they bring her. On the other page, we see her child having fun in kindergarten, doing an activity that matches his mom, such as reading a book, playing with water or pretend cook for his friends. As a surprise at the end, the kid made a drawing for his mom, as he thought of her too.
Absolutely adorable and based on the authors family tradition. The illustrator is originally from Taiwan and did an fantastic job bringing this story to life. I love how the child’s experiences mirror their moms and the soft colors bring a smile to your face. Even when the mom was a little overwhelmed with work or stained her clothes, she has happy memories to make her days brighter.

This is one of the sweetest, best books I have ever read for children. Every child should read this one, especially children with working parents. This is the perfect reminder that no matter where your day takes you, or where it takes your mom or dad, that they are always "thinking about you". This one had tearing me up. So, so good.

I could not love a kids book more! The first and only book that I have read that addresses my inner thoughts of being a working mother. A way to express to my daughter just what the day looks like for me. How I wish I could spend more time with her, but glad that she is learning how to use her wings. It made me cry, and made me happy. This book is beautiful! Simple, and full of true meaning.

Thank you NetGalley and Kids Can Press for the advanced copy! I can’t wait to add it to our shelves!

This is a story of a mother who works full time, but still spends all of her downtime thinking of her child while they attend their new school. While the mother is consistently thinking of their memories together, we see the child making new memories of their own.

I really enjoyed And I Think About You by Rosanne L. Kurstedt. Well illustrated, and easy for younger readers to understand, it teaches them that while their parents may have to spend so much of their time working, they still think of their children above all else.

This is a really good book about what parents go through during the day when they have children. They think of them all day during the smallest tasks, doing work and even having lunch with friends. They think about what your doing, what your having for lunch, what you’re playing with at school.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Such a positive spin on the tale of a working mother and her kid. Daydreaming about the right things in life just feels so nice sometimes, you know?

A sweet and simple tale of a working bear and her school-aged cub going about their days separately, but frequently thinking of each other. A perfect tale for any child who's ever wondered what mom or dad does all day. With lovely illustrations by Ya-Ling Huang.

I was doing so well until the last page...and now I'm crying...

This is such an adorable book. Mama Bear drops Little Bear at daycare, goes to work, and shows all the ways she thinks about Little Bear throughout the day. Sweet illustrations show the parallels between their days and the little ways they're connected (her desktop background, humming the same tune, etc.). It's great to see a representation of a competent working mother with friends, projects, accomplishments, AND a deep bond with her child. I adored the positive, loving tone and could see this being an oft-repeated favorite for bedtime or snuggle time.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

It's like a love letter from a mum to her child, which is really sweet and beautifully written. In the modern world, it's common that a mother cannot be around the child because of work or any other reason. This book can be a comforting book for children to read when they are apart from their parents, so it reminds them how much their parents are thinking about them.
The illustration gave the book a warming and loving atmosphere that plays a curial part for a picture book. The details in the illustrations are beautiful, I think children will enjoy looking into every page. The bear characters are adorable as well.

This is such a sweet tender story about a mother and her darling little boy. She is a busy working mom and all through her day she never stops thinking about him and what he may be doing while at school. She dreams what he may be up to time and time again and repeats the phrase..."And I think about you!"

As she proceeds through her intense workday the reader gets a glimpse of what she imagines her little boy may be engaged in doing. The fun part is when you turn the page you see her child in a parallel activity at school similar to what she is up to at her work. I really love the comparisons.

No matter what the two are doing while apart it's their love that connects them together every moment of the day. That beautiful bond can never be broken as they are strongly joined heart-to-heart.

The illustrations are wonderful and we can visually see and feel the love between the parent and child. This heartwarming book is a perfect bedtime... or anytime one to share. I highly recommend it.

This sweet picture book tells the story of a parent and child. The parent is at work and doing errands/chores while the child is at a daycare or early elementary school playing and learning with friends. The parent is thinking about the child all day and picturing the things they do together, while the child is doing similar things at school. It is a lovely story for parents to read with their child to reaffirm the love and attachment they have for the child. It would probably be especially helpful for families of young children who feel anxiety about being away from a parent while at school or if they parent is away for a period of time. The animals in the pictures eat a variety of foods, including using chopsticks so it is also a really nice way to give children from many different backgrounds the opportunity to see familiar elements of their lives in this text. As a grade 3 teacher, I would recommend this book to parents of children in the age 3-7 range. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!

This book is perfect for parents who are helping their little one adjust to not seeing them all day. The art style was cozy and inviting, the writing was simple and flowed flawlessly. There is nothing I’d change about this book.
