A chance encounter with Logan Hunter has Amanda Steele going home with him; however, the discovery of a dead woman ruins the night. Amanda fights the sergeant to work the case and discovers the dead woman has a past well hidden.
As Amanda and her partner Trent Stenson piece together the investigation, they link it to a murder/robbery from over 10 years ago. Amanda is threatened by someone, can she figure out who it is before it's too late?
I enjoyed this story. The dynamic between Trent and Amanda holds steady and the investigation takes them through so many questions before finally getting answers.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Carolyn Arnold
Was well written, well paced , and not once did I want to put it down that how much I was enjoying the story as well as the characters, And each time I pick up one of these books I keep saying this is my favorite, but now I'm going to just say it hard to decide which is my favorite, so over all their all my favorites. Especially the characters, one of the main reasons I love reading this series the friendship and working rapport between Steele and Trent and seeing how their characters are developing as well as keeping my fingers cross that they're get together as a couple.
Last Seen Alive is book 6 in the Detective Amanda Steele series, and I loved the fact I didn't need to have read the previous five to be able to enjoy it!
This was a very enjoyable crime thriller, and the writing was brilliant! The characters are fleshed out, and have enough about them to feel familiar - even of you've not met them before. I absolutely love Amanda's partner, Trent, and find that she's not too bad either, which is really quite refreshing as I often find female police procedural protagonists extremely frustrating. I was pleasantly surprised to find Amanda believable, for the most part. Logan isn't too bad either.
I don't usually like the whole "partner love interest" theme, because I don't find it realistic in most cases, but it didn't bother me here, as Carolyn Arnold successfully negotiates the path between 'close colleagues' and 'possibly more' with tact and realism.
The plot, I have to say, was a bit confusing because once the case (which involves Logan, Amanda's sort-of-ex boyfriend) takes off there are so many extra layers that are revealed that it was a bit awkward to follow. I also felt that some parts - including Amanda getting the case, and the reason why - were a tad implausible; but not having read the previous books in the series, which may or may not (although I'm guessing the former) reveal why she did, probably plays a large part in that.
Overall, this was a well written, well paced and plotted story, and an enjoyable read. I'm sure fans of the series will love it, and I'm more than happy to add Carolyn Arnold to my "watch" list!

Last Seen Alive, had me hooked from the first sentence till the last. This was another great read in the Amanda Steele series, I couldn’t put it down till I finished it in two days. This series keeps getting better with each book, can’t wait for the next. Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for this wonderful arc.
A good book is when you are sad to say goodbye to the characters when you reach the end of the story. This is how I feel after reading Last Seen Alive (Detective Amanda Steele Book 6) by Carolyn Arnold. I have read several Carolyn Arnold books. She writes engaging and believable stories with likable characters.
In Last Seen Alive, I am still loving Amanda and Zoe. I wanted the story to continue to be immersed in Amanda's and Trent's lives. I like these characters and their chemistry. I wish Amanda and Trent would get together, but I understand this keeps the tension of their working relationship going and makes it more intense for readers.
The ending felt a bit rushed after all the build-up of the storyline, but overall, a great addition to the Amanda Steele series. I would rate this a 4 out of 5 stars (just for the rushed ending).
I would recommend this series and this book. I would also recommend the other books and series by Carolyn Arnold.

Detective Amanda Steele decides to throw caution to the wind and join her friend for a girls night out that leads to her going home with an ex-boyfriend. As they romantically work their way to the bedroom, the couple are shocked to find the boyfriend's estranged wife dead on his bed. The woman disappeared several years ago for reasons nobody knows. Why is she now dead in his bed? Despite her boss' quick judgement that the guy is guilting, Amanda argues to investigate the case with her partner. As they seek answers, the case has more twists and turns than a good rollercoaster. In the midst of that, Amanda and Trent are struggling with developing romantic feelings between the two of them. Will they solve the murder? Will they pursue a relationship at the risk of their jobs? I look forward to the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.
Wow, this book is a great addition to Carolyn Arnold’s Detective Amanda Steele series. It got off to a great start, I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page with the return of an old character and a murder that Steele wants to investigate but can’t. I love reading of the friendship and working rapport between Steele and Trent and seeing how their characters are developing. This is a book that had everything I love - great writing, a very good plot line, twist after twist and I enjoyed the little snippets from the victims perspective which added to the story. There is such a lot going on in the story to keep me entertained and I found this to be a very absorbing read which held my attention all the way through. I’m not to sure if I like the new Sargeant or not though, maybe she’ll grow on me over time. Carolyn Arnold has a wonderful way of connecting with her readers through her writing and characters and I look forward to the next book. If you like police procedurals then you’ll likely enjoy this series although I’d recommend you read the books in order to know the characters from the beginning.
I was so excited to get this book as an ARC from Netgalley as I absolutely love the Amanda Steele series! This book was no exception, it was interesting to see Logan back and having a familiar character as a suspect definitely gave the book a bit more urgency. I liked the bits written from the victims perspective, it made it more personal to hear her story in her own voice rather than just as detectives piecing things together. I’m not sure about the new boss yet, I’m hoping that she becomes more of an ally for Amanda and Trent but that probably doesn’t make for exciting story writing. I can’t wait for the next installment, can’t wait to see what’s next for Amanda and Trent!
Amanda's previous boyfriend, Logan, is back... and not in a good way. His wife's body (yes, they were still married) was found on his bed... murdered. Initially removed from the case by her "hopefully temporary" Sarge, Amanda and Trent lobby for the case as previous detectives determined it was open and shut. Logan! As they further investigate Logan's wife, they learn there's much more to her than meets the eye - or that Logan even knew... and then others around are being eliminated. It's a race against the clock for Amanda and Trent - whose partnership is realistic and honest. And, where Ms. Arnold left off - I cannot wait to see where she goes next! Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed here are my own.
Detective Amanda Steele book 6! Such a great read. Amanda finds herself hooking up with her ex Logan’s and they arrive back at his house. Nothing ends a steamy night like a body in Logan’s bed. Did Logan murder her? Amanda is determined to solve this case. These books have it all, non-stop action, an ever growing body count, and a bit of romance. Team Logan or Team Trent… the answer to that one remains to be seen.
Enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see where this story goes next.
Last Seen Alive by Carolyn Arnold was an amazing page turning story.
Detective Amanda Steele is back with another story to tell. Book 6 in this compelling series was just as amazing as the first five I read and loved.
I absolutely love this series, each book just keeps getting better.
Last Seen Alive had so many twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down till the last page.
Great plot and character dynamics. Arnold can grab your attention and keeps you flipping the pages til you can no longer hold your eyes open. She did me anyhow. A stunningly written, fast paced, addictive read.
So addictive it kept me up all night and I did not want it to end.
This is the best book in this series so far. Looking forward to the next book.

Last seen alive was gripping from the first page to the last. Fast paced, unpredictable and original with a twist that made me gasp out loud. Dramatic, atmospheric and fast paced.
This is action packed and offers a mystery which will keep you guessing. The tension as you wonder why these things are happening is incredible and makes the reveal really satisfying.
Great book! I definitely enjoyed reading this one! This book and series is awesome! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, a great who done it and great police work! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book and series! They're well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! And thank you for introducing me to a new to me author! I'm loving her books!
Thanks to Carolyn and NetGalley for allowing me to read Last Seen Alive before the publication date.
This is the 6th in the Detective Amanda Steele series.
Following the death of her husband and daughter 7 years ago, Amanda’s personal life has been a rollercoaster. Now Amanda’s life revolves around 6 year old Zoe, who she adopted after her parents were murdered.
After a friend set Amanda up on a dating app, she dated Logan Hunter for a few months before they drifted apart.
On a night when Zoe has a sleepover, Amanda headed for a local bar where she bumped into Logan again.
Amanda’s instincts kick in as they enter Logan’s home where she finds a woman’s dead body on the bed.
Logan says that she is his wife, Claire who he has not seen since she walked out on him years ago.
The OIC on the night is Sgt Graves who has recently moved from NYPD. Determined to make an impression, she seems more interested in charging Logan with the murder on what to Amanda, seems like flimsy circumstantial evidence.
Despite being micro-managed by Graves, can Amanda and her partner Trent uncover the secrets surrounding Claire?
As the body count rises, there are plenty of twists, turns and red herrings as the layers of secrets are peeled back to reveal the truth.
Detective Madison Steele finds the dead body of a woman in the bedroom of her friend, Logan; his estranged wife, Claire. All of the evidence points to Logan as the murderer, but it doesn’t feel right to Amanda. After being told by the new boss to not investigate the case, Amanda gets herself and her partner assigned to work it. Did something from Claire’s past come back to get her killed; and why frame Logan? It won’t be easy to solve but they are determined to do just that.
This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy. Family and friends...love and romance...children...sadness...happiness...murder and intrigue...this could be a series for television or a movie. It is fiction that reads like nonfiction. This is a character driven novel that cannot be put down until the last page. There are so many red herrings that discovering the ending is not easily accomplished. I liked this book. I have not read all of the books in this series with the protagonist, Amanda, but I enjoyed the novel anyway. I look forward to more about this group of characters who come alive on the pages. Don't miss this...I really liked this book...I said it again...
Great book! Lots of twists and turns. Definitely a page turned that i couldn't put down! Compelling characters, great plot. The prologue didn't end up working into the book but since this is part of a series I expect it to come to fruition in the next book. Overall a great read!
