In her newest thriller, Gretchen McNeil is more focused on the psychology of murder than the bloody logistics of the crime. Kate is a young, freshly emancipated actress who is looking for work when her television series is unexpectedly canceled. Keeping her days free for auditions, she accepts a job working as an after hours file clerk at the law firm of her best friend’s father. The security measures set up by the firm ensure that there are few external distractions for Kate barring one small window facing the courtyard of the office complex. One evening while enduring the boring work, her eye catches a steamy tryst between a boss and her assistant in an office across the way. When their next encounter ends in murder, Kate is the sole witness to the crime and investigates to the best of her limited abilities. The pacing is excellent and the plot never lags, but the resolutions of the different storylines feel somewhat rushed and unrewarding.
This was such a fun read! Rear Window vibes meets the actresses of Pretty Little Liars in the mysterious dungeon of Ty and Ro’s father’s law firm. When their friend Kate, an out of work actress, finds herself needing to make money to pay rent to her parents, she will jump at nearly any job. But snooping through the office window into a women’s office gets Kate much more than she bargained for. Thank you, Disney Publishing Worldwide, for allowing me to read Three Drops of Blood early!
Gretchen McNeil knows how to do thrillers. I was involved from the beginning and I couldn't put the book down until I discovered who did it.
It's been a hot minute since I've read a Gretchen McNeil book and boy does she deliver! Great, quick read.
Wow, what a roller coaster ride!
This book has it all: growing up, changing friendships, unrequited (?) love, MURDER...
I don't want to give away the juicy details, but this was a fun, fast paced murder mystery.
Gretchen McNeil knows how to spin a story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Disney publishing for an early copy for review.
